Nice vid, all pajs look great. Interested to know what the cream colored paj had done to the rear bumper. Looks like it was shortened with the lights moved to the side lights, wonder how much more cleqrqnce it gets. Seems you guys dont run bash plates, that was the first part to fail for me, a peice of wood punctured mine and made a hole in my intercooler.

That's exactly why you're having a hard time starting the montero, the backpressure in the tank wouldn't let the fuel go to the injectors . The purge solenoid must be bad or the vent valve on the charcoal canister

@LeoTheRussian
@LeoTheRussian Жыл бұрын
2.5 are the most coveted especially winter package (has a locker). As far as 2 vs 2.5 vs 3 - if you mostly want hiking/overlanding and fairly straightforward trails - gen3 will be beyond capable. It's nuts what they can do especially if equipped with rear LSD or thr 2003-06 traction control. 2 and 2.5 are body on frame with solid rear axle and IFS vs fully independent gen3 so are better for more serious offroad/crawling. Gen3s are bigger inside I believe and behave better/more comfortable on longer roadtrips

@@LeoTheRussian It’s a 2003 Montero Limited. Sadly when I got it, it was probably the lowest trim you could get it. No sunroof, no rear AC, no fog lamps, no center compass (instead it’s just a digital clock, no extra controls), no power/heated seats, etc. I did add in OEM fog lamps, it’s really just as simple as getting the wiring harness, a relay, the physical switch and the lamps and it’s plug and play from there. I’d love to add more oem equipment, however I don’t believe everything will be as simple as the fog lamps were. As for the skid plates, the ones that came with the car when I got it were worn down (plastic ones, most likely from the factory?). I’m wanting to get some Boo Bash Plates, but they are out of stock and if my memory serves right won’t be restocked until spring
@LeoTheRussian
@LeoTheRussian 2 жыл бұрын
@@mtheoverlord7840 it's not a bad thing tbh that it's a simple one especially if you're missing the rear AC (you can check on passenger side under the rear bumper - of its a void - then you don't have it). That is one of the more vulnerable spots. The rest is just less stuff to break. Mine is xls so cloth seats etc but did have sun roof and fog lights. Pretty sure you can just plug the trip computer from limited in. I'll likely remove mine anyways and put a dedicated navigation unit in that spot instead (have a dual screen setup in my Infiniti with top always being navi and love it)

@@LeoTheRussian Some of the times I thought someone was going to flip and when I saw the person sitting on the ground with a camera, the car tilted in that direction! So Montero's are built like Jeeps?
@LeoTheRussian
@LeoTheRussian 2 жыл бұрын
@@graphicsdesignedforyou haha allegedly a much higher quality build than Jeeps but due to age and neglect they can be a bit janky and require some initial invetsment to catch up on maintenance etc since they're at least 15 years old by now. They do have 4x4, low range, locking central and sometimes rear differential. Very capable offroad indeed. Everything in the video was fairly low key however. I just came back from a much harder offroad event with nothing breaking and no issues, but didn't really shoot any video (cold day plus too many trucks and tight course).
