I bought another 2003 Mitsubishi montero sight unseen in California and road tripped it back 1,000 miles! We did some fun things along the way and the car is better than I expected

You want stock adventure, come drive my beast. 2001 Pajero RHD, I4 diesel, 5 speed, manual everything (windows, seats, etc.). Had the cool folding side seats (facing inward) in the rear that I have since taken out for bed space. Still new to the Montero / Pajero world, but this one has a button-push locking rear differential and is an absolute tractor going uphill. Need to sort a few things out, but am so far impressed. But, I'm in Mozambique......

We did that 2 years ago. Flew up to Ohio and drove a 2002 Limited back 980 miles. Never worried a bit. Love that Blue!!! Up to now we've bought multiple sight unseen.

Nice rig! I am impressed by the state of the Montero being such cleaned! By the way, maybe going through Montana in June with my Montero 😅

Love your content. I have owned my Gen 3 for close to 20 years. It’s a 2003 Limited and I’m about to hit 250,000 miles. All original with exception of new radiator. It runs better than my 2018 4Runner 😂 Can’t beat the Gen 3 Montero ergonomic!

You did something I really wanted to do when I bought my Gen 2.5. Unfortunately it was leaking ATF after I paid someone to test drive it. I got an awesome deal for it, but the trade off was no cross country trip from Washington State to Florida. Love the video man!

What a rad video! Great job editing and getting all that footage. 1. Love that blue color, then again, I love all the solid Montero colors. The two tones just don’t do it for me. 2. Bummer about the sunroof visor, I love that accessory and they go for like $300 on the used market now since they’re so rare. 3. Amazing adventure. I did the same thing when I bought my very first Montero (97 SR). Rented a car with a buddy and drove to San Diego to get it and we were super worried the seller would ghost us because i had been trying to get this car for over a month from him but he would never get back to me. Turned out he was a tweaker with face tats and his life was kinda chaotic to say the least. But we got it and it all worked out and here we are today many years later. Thanks for the shoutout and #vivamontero

What bothered you about that sunroof deflector? There's some crazy harmonics having a large sunroof on a large box at 70 mph, if you play with that deflector you get a whole different vibrational disruption. I think one of mine had your wind deflector but it just added a different dimension of noise as opposed to eliminating it

i only run my sunroof open when i'm going slow. so it doesn't really matter to me and it blocked my view when i was looking out

Would you happen to know the torque specs for the rocker arms on the 3.8? I need to do my valve stems and can’t find a service manual anywhere. Any help would be great, thank you.

My NM NP Digital Information Instrument Display Unit does not calculate my miles, do you have any idea how to fix it? Is it some tank sensor? or is it better to change part?

do you have an OBD2 tool plugged in by any chance? i hear that can mess with that info system

If there is no OBD2 sensor plugged in then another common issue is the screen was replaced by a different part number screen. If I remember right, there are 3 screen units: 01-02, 03, 04-06. If you try putting an 01-02 screen in an 04-06, everything will work except the miles til empty display.

Wow, i didn’t know that. I had the same problem with miles till empty. Ive had a bluedriver always connected. I removed it and now it works. Thanks for the tip!
