Yes, that was Kings Island. Eifel Tower reflection in the "restaurant" door was the giveaway. Kings Island was built by Taft Broadcasting, who owned Hanna Barbera at the time. The kid's area was called "The Happy Land of Hanna Barbera" It's Planet Snoopy now under Cedar Fair.

Yeah, that makes sense. Taft Broadcasting also built Canada's Wonderland. We had a section of the park called Hanna Barbera Land which is now Planet Snoopy.

I ate at that restaurant a few times around the time the photo was taken. It was on the second floor. I think most people didn't notice it. I had a season pass and went to the park many times. It was easy to miss, the windows were heavily tinted.

Hey Jacob, Can I suggest something? Talk to your Mom about removing the pictures from the acidic pages. If she doesn't, the pages will eat through the pictures. She can get some acid free paper and acid free page protectors to create new albums in binders and label the binders. I am a Genealogist and I do this all the time. It would be sad to lose pictures to the acid from the pages. What wonderful pictures and memories :)

i just bought a big plastic bin full of little bins. It was touted in the store as a photo organizing system. No paper, acidic or otherwise. Did I do good, or should I return it? Thanks!
@vikinggenie
@vikinggenie 6 ай бұрын
@@maryblaufuss7533 I always put my photos on acid free cardstock paper which comes in various colors in size 8.5x11. I get acid free photo corners/tabs and acid free page protectors. Put the photos on the pages using the photo corners and then you can write on the pages around the pictures, etc. and slip the page into the page protector and into a binder. Then I go to WORD and I type (family name) photos or whatever you want to name it, print it and slip it into the front cover of the binder. This helps save the pictures from being eaten by acid. Storing them in containers is a temporary solution but that can even damage them eventually because the acid starts coming out of the pictures and they will start sticking to one another.

Jacob's mom (as well as some other family members) was a guest star in a Carpetbagger video last summer. Wasn't that the park with the ride that swings you out over a canyon? The one that anyone would have to be a masochist to actually go on? But, I digress. Jacob's mom is still a beauty. A lot of people pointed that out.

I am the same age so a lot of this feels nostalgic! The fiberglass elephant is at Kings Island, it was in a fountain and sprayed water out of its trunk. The Scooby and Fred Flintstone stuff was from there too, in Hanna Barbera Land. The Smurf dark ride was a favorite as we always went in July the few times we went and it was cool inside. I also remember the blue spinning ride at McDonald's (which I thought looked like a blue hamburger) and I remember spinning it and spinning it with my brother inside and he tossed cookies in my Grandma's Cadillac, which made both of us unpopular that day. Some of the carousel pics could have been Indianapolis Children's museum as they have an indoor carousel.

I was born in '92 and have my own photos with my mom in front of that blue elephant fountain! (I see other commenters confirmed for you that it was at Kings Island). I also remember riding the tiny cars and Flintstones bumper cars. Between the time of the Smurfs dark ride and Boo Blasters, there was an excellent dark ride in that building called Phantom Theatre. It operated from 1992-2002 and is one of my favorite memories of the park. I think it's exactly the kind of dark ride you would have loved! There is video footage on KZfaq. Anyway, thanks for showing us these wonderful memories. I especially love all of your Halloween costumes! I think the 80's and 90's were probably the best decades for kids to grow up in.

Jacob, you talked about social anxiety and being scared to call people. That is me my whole life. I'm still scared to call places. I don't like contact sometimes, either. When something small happens, it automatically becomes the end of the world. It is the worst outcome right off hand, and it makes me panic. I asked my mom if I was slower than other kids, and she said I just had emotional problems. Have had several therapists in my life. Obsessive compulsive at times. I can't comprehend money and numbers and time very well. I admire you for your courage. Be safe and enjoy your family.
