I rarely comment on things but the bridge you walked across was used in John Carpenter's Escape from New York as the 69th Street Bridge towards the end of the movie! Most of the movie was actually filmed in Saint Louis! Love your videos Jacob! My wife and I hope to meet you somewhere one day!

The abandoned pavilion where the homeless were living, formerly was the entrance to The President’s Casino on the Admiral riverboat. It closed years ago. It couldn’t compete with the much larger casino next door.

The old riverfront had a Robert e Lee riverboat. A real paddle wheel. It did excursions, evening dinner shows and weddings. Along with the admiral we had a very vibrant waterfront back then. Welcome to my home town.

And it was Colonel Robert E Lee who supervised the pilings that were driven to vary the Mississippi river flow from the eastern shore to the west, essentially changing the economics of this area fundamentally. He was with the Corp of Engineers at the time.

The abandoned river front pavilion you seen was where the Admiral (built 1907) used to sit. As a kid it was a cruise ship that had music, dinner and live music. Then it left for the south for a while then made its way back to St. Louis as a Casino. Then it became too old for repairs and it was destroyed.

Welcome to St. Louis!! As a native I can tell you that true toasted ravioli (or t-ravs) are breaded then deep fried. The sauce can make all the difference also. I agree with the folks who say go to The Hill where you'll find wonderful Italian restaurants and some of the best t-ravs in the city. There is a bbq place in downtown (Salt & Smoke across from Busch Stadium) that makes brisket t-ravs which are so good!

Mammas on the hill is an Italian restaurant where a cook accidentally dropped ravioli in the deep fryer and a local delicacy was born. Many will say that it is the best place to get toasted ravioli (or t-ravs as the locals call them) it is arguably the best because it was the first, but many many local restaurants have put their own spin on the recipe so it is a St. Louis tradition to try them anytime they are on the menu so you can find your personal favorite. Me personally as a St. Louis native, born and raised I would say.Farrotto’s in rock hill (st Louis county) has the best. But I’m sure many many people will argue. Everyone has their favorite and that is the beauty of T-Ravs.

I visited St. Louis twice. On my second trip I stayed in a hotel downtown and got to visit the arch. Those capsules are not for people who feel clostrophic but is defiantly worth the ride up to see the views from the top. When I was there that Landing area was a lively commercial and entertainment area. The flue crisis most likely killed a lot of business there. I also believe there were two riverboat casinos in that area and that is what you most likely saw that looked abandoned and was their entrance area. 😂
