As a senior who’s graduating in less than 2 months, this was extremely comforting to hear. This channel all around is nice and relaxing, but as someone who’s very introverted and avoids parties and people, it’s nice to hear that someone who was like that was able to socialize and have a good time doing it, maybe I’ll have a chance myself someday

Bit of advice, I just finished my first year. Join clubs. Especially at the beginning, I was super lonely until I joined a society and made a bunch of really great friends! From there it gave me the confidence to talk to new people in my course and others, and I'm glad to say I have a small put really tight nit group of friends. Also, timetabling yoru chores and budgeting weekly for shopping is a lifesaver, can feel like absolute chaos in the beginning when you have no idea what to do! Good look to you brother, I wish you the best.

I think this is the first video ever on KZfaq that doesn’t leave me feeling like I made the worst decision ever by going to college. Every single video I watched from other KZfaqrs tells a story of how successful they were so they decided to dropout, with the fact that they don’t need college anymore as they’re making much more money than average college graduates. It’s refreshing and made me realize how beautiful and fun my college life was. College is the perfect place to reinvent yourself and enjoy your youth.

Hey Danny Boy, don't sweat the mental health issues. You're probably as sane as any other college guy around. Take some psychology classes and explore what it means to be normal. Just enjoy the college life as much as possible. No need to over do it and end up getting stressed out!😅

The monologue is so comforting. Thinking about missed opportunities after graduating college is much worse than pushing yourself and getting embarrassed. It is about how you cope with that embarrassment
@afriendlyfox
@afriendlyfox 11 ай бұрын
Being embarrassed doesn't matter. Even if you somehow messed up while trying to socialize, it's important that your intentions were good, but you simply lacked social skills to communicate them. It's normal to lack social skills if you haven't had much social experience or or even if you had but just got unlucky this time. You should just try to improve your skills instead of dwelling on this one failure. In the end, what truly matters is your intention

As someone in college right now, I agree with a lot of this sentiment. However, I think it's important to remember your own limits. It's great to meet new people, make friends, take chances but always keep in mind what YOU need for your own mental stability. Me personally, I like to take those opportunities, but there are also many nights that I stay in to recharge. Good luck on your college careers everyone!

I am currently 13. After the summer holiday, I will be in 9th grade. I have to meet new people, and I knew this was going to be the hardest year since I will be getting all subjects. You made me look at it from a different side. Thanks a lot.
@sith1884
@sith1884 Жыл бұрын
Hey man, I don't comment to others comments often but I decided to this time. You're so young, enjoy high school. Sure, you will have troubles, there will be uphill battles. But don't let that get to you. Understand that you only experience being 13 once. Don't ever take time for granted, always appreciate that you have the moment. I wish I did that; I had received this same advice but never actually cared to apply it. Don't make the same mistake I did, I'll be out of high school soon. I now only realize how important those years are, terrifying and saddening that I can't go back and appreciate them more.
@AstroBlox

I'm 16 and a sophomore right now. When i was in middle school I spent the entire thing in quarantine, so kind of a special case. For me, 9th grade gets a bit easier because you take less classes than in middle school (at least in my school). Most of all though, you get to meet and talk to so many new people and over all it's really fun. Just try keeping good habits so you can feel confident at the end of highschool that you'll be able to do what you wanna do.

I had that exact same mindset last year (middle school). I really hated how I acted and how I never knew how to talk to people, I hated how introverted I was, because I really had no actual friends. People I talked to, sure, but no actual friends friends. God forbid i would hang out with anyone outside of school, god forbid i go to any school dances, god forbid i express myself or tell anyone anything about myself, god forbid god forbid god forbid. I knew I had to change something, and I thought high school was the perfect opportunity to make this change, to be more social, to pick up some new hobbies, deepen my personality, have something to actually talk about, I thought "man, i can't wait to put middle school behind me and be a totally different person." I had so many ideas, like I would meet a new friend group, be more expressive, take more initiative to ace my classes, y'know, things like that. That being said, there was still going to be everyone from my middle school, people i knew, people i talked to, people who knew me. And I didn't want to make this sudden change because really I was scared of my parents thoughts (still am), scared that later in life i'd regret it (still am), other things like that. This really kinda discouraged me, and here I am in high school (freshman), I mean, fairly, I had too high of hopes. Yeah, I tried hard to meet new people, but as I said I was scared of my parents thoughts, old friends, etc, so I didn't join any clubs or anything. So now, I know a few new people, but overall? I'm still at home after school, playing Minecraft and watching youtube videos 24/7. I haven't made any collective change. Unfortunately, i dont think i KNOW how to change. Idk. I hope it changes by college though-

I definitely had my fun in high school (parties girls etc.) but was also horribly depressed and didn't really talk that much to people outside of school hours, but with a fresh start around the corner I know to not make that same mistake but to also use the things from HS to do better. As a comsci about to graduate 1st-year, I'm still introverted but meet new people more related to me (cuz computer science lol). College is indeed scary but in long time, you'll start to learn more socially and starting to move to the "I-don't-care" state where I don't let my nervous, negative and fear feeling interfere and just do what I gotta do (and it's effective but it depends on you)

This is exactly the experience I had in college. I'm just about to graduate, and the opportunity to reinvent yourself is something that can't be overstated. It gives you the ability to become whoever you want to immediately, so just go for it. A new world doesn't see your flaws and shortcomings until you volunteer them. Great vid, and all the best to you out there seeking to become your best selves. You got this. My biggest tip: Do your best to remember peoples' names, always say hi to them(and use their name), even if you're just walking by, and don't be afraid to ask for names if you've forgotten them.

I am currently having the same experience. I wasn't particularly antisocial in highschool and wasn't particular unconfident, but I never associated with people outside of school hours. I started university this year and decided I'd be more outgoing. I started by answering questions in class and volunteering in class whenever possible, and helping anyone whenever I could. Now almost everyone in my course, which has modules of up to 700 people per class, knows me and I have really good friends and go out and do things I never would've done in highschool. I also recommend to anyone to try to do new things when entering college/university, it will almost always be worth it

This is the second video from your channel I've watched, but seriously this is such great content, even from the only other video I saw before this. I enlisted in the military, being shipped out in a few months, as well as attending college right after my basic training for the military. Oh boy, have I been worried and actually a little scared for a while now. But, this video sorta cleared up a bit of the worry I had looming over me for so long, just hearing someone else tell their tale of how college and a new experience went brought a lot more comfort than I thought. Don't get me wrong, I still am pretty nervous, but you really did make it a whole lot better, and are inspiring me to view more of your content, as well as other content like this. It's so calming and relieving, and it really does genuinely help people so much. Thank you.

This is honestly perfect. I just graduated high school yesterday, and all I've got to do now is pass a bunch of exams (that's how we do stuff in Poland: graduation first, exams second) before organising my papers and applying to college. I'm confident about passing, I'm an A student in all of the subjects I'm attempting, and I'm pretty sure I'll get accepted. Getting into a dorm will be trickier with how things are here but I'm sure I'll manage. What I *am* worried about is, well, the rest. I mean, I've never been much of a social person. I've gotten better at it over the years, especially in high school, but still. So, what I'm trying to say is: thanks. This message brought a random Eastern European kid some comfort.

Reinventing yourself is so refreshing and you feel like you get to build a new identity judgement free. Im about to become a junior in college and can't believe i'm almost a senior. I'm a different person than I was in high school and I'm incredibly proud of that. 4 pieces of advice for people going in, make connections with those around you, classes are important, you're going to make mistakes, and the biggest one, when you're older go up to freshman, shake their hand, and ask them their name. Beautiful Video mate, got some nerves of my own about university, hearing your perspective is really quite reassuring, I love the idea about it being an opportunity to reinvent yourself, the KZfaqr better ideas spoke about a similar idea in one of his videos, I feel like anxiety has prevented me from being myself, like I’m a naturally charismatic person but anxiety has kinda masked that for me, I suppose because I let people talk shit to me, it got to me and I believed the things they had to say about me, if anything though, I can take away that being yourself is one of the most important things in life and when I go to university, I can be that person, without having to worry about the judgements of other people that have already known me for years, like it’s a clean slate, which I guess is a great new opportunity, again though, great video, love hearing your insight to things👍

Student life is the best thing that happened in my life, especially if you live in a student dorm. It's like a breath of fresh air after being constantly monitored at school with ordinary people and boring teachers who only want to assert themselves at your expense. Besides, if you come from a small city to a big one, it's even better. You can meet your online friends. One of these friends even invited me to join student activists at another university who were engaged in video filming, which was interesting to me. I made a lot of new useful and interesting friends there. Never be afraid to go further in life. It's a pity that my student days are already coming to an end.

I'm graduating this Saturday and this video is definitely what I needed. To anyone going into college, don't worry about having the "perfect college experience." College is what you make it, and anyway of doing it is valid. Above all, enjoy the moment. It'll go by much quicker than you think.

I'm a year and a half off from leaving highschool and this got me super pumped and comfortable with college/uni but I'm gonna major in computer science lol. 0 party's, 0 extroverts, 100% body odor

I just started High School and am also introverted, scared to talk to people outside of my class. I really like this channel and the vibe you give through your calming vice, it even makes me feel like I'm talking to an actual person about our lives. Thank you so much for this, king.

Nice video! I understand what you mean by doing things you're not comfortable with, as I also put myself into uncomfortable situations when I started secondary school, and it turns out that it was actually pretty good for me :)
