I lost my wife in September, we were passholders and I am planning on a trip to DW in September for 3 days in honor of her and our memories. 1st time ever going solo and I know it will be such a bittersweet trip.

I definitely agree that eating alone is a confidence thing. I travel solo quite a bit and I was pretty indifferent to eating alone in restaurants, it was just another part of travelling solo. Then one day a colleague in her 60s asked me if I ever eat alone in restaurants because she couldn't imagine having the confidence to do it. That was so strange to me hearing somebody with a lot more life experience than me say that that's something they couldn't do. It's not weird unless you tell yourself it's weird :)

I prefer solo trips because I like being alone and like doing exactly what I want during my vacation. I definitely started at quick service and now I have no issues with sit down meals solo. My next trip in May, I have multiple table service reservations (California Grill and Space 220). I am so excited to try these restaurants that I used to be uncomfortable booking alone.

What I like to do in long lines by myself is either read about disney history or listen to videos about the parks/disney studios history. I feel like so much goes into the making of rides and of the experience of disney parks. The smells they put in, the colors they use, the inspiration that that took from. Imagineers really do art in real life and I want to try and learn more about it.

Do you have any websites/podcasts/channels you recommend to learn that history? It’s a great idea!

Great points and well-organized presentation for solo travelers. I have done several trips solo and enjoyed them all. During my first three trips, I dined exclusively at quick service restaurants or lounges. For my most recent trips, I have built up confidence and dined solo at sit-down restaurants - mostly because I wanted to experience some of the sit-down restaurants. Agree with your comments on Mears Connect and staying on Disney property.

Thanks for the great video. Thinking about going solo next September. Great tips for sure. I think one more pro would be many rides got solo queue too. And I feel with the Genie+, being solo can be maybe useful too. Anyway thanks again. :)

The trial run advice is such a good piece of advice! I had never taken a solo trip before but when I went with family I would go out and explore the parks alone sometimes when my family was tired or had other plans, etc. and it really does get you oriented with how it feels to do Disney alone and it's a lot of fun!

"waiting in line is the loneliest time"and "eating in the same restaurant 3 times a day" those times are lonely but think about how much courage someone thinks you have when the see you traveling alone.

I did a semi-solo trip for my birthday in 2019. Traveled alone and stayed alone on property but met up with some friends for some park days. I also went to Disneyland Paris alone back in November. I would say in Paris, they kinda judge you more when you say you're alone but honestly, I don't care. Like you said, no one knows your story, just enjoy your day alone. Being solo is freeing. There are some times you do wish others were with you to share the memories haha I also agree the Disney Express and staying on property made me feel very safe as a solo female traveler. Thanks for the additional tips x

Sunshine Flyer til Labour day 2022 booking now is also a $32,- but themed roundtrip and Kids even get for free. And they are focused on Disney Hotels instead of Mears that includes off sites as well since operating without Disney.

You don't necessarily get stuck with a middle seat. Don't pay for the absolute cheapest seats, but instead pay a couple of dollars more and pick your seat. I NEVER let the airline choose my seat. It does not end well.
