Our Going to the Source series is our favorite. It is where we get to share many of the primary sources that we use at our museums. But why do we always seem to go back to Captain John Smith so often as one of our sources? In this video we’ll learn how Smith became such an important primary source.

Ok… 1. Wonderful lecture on historical resources. Great teaching about reliability. 2. Well and logically presented. So, what could have been a very confusing video, was very clear. 3. AND, in the notes section were links to some of specific sources that were discussed. Speaking as a person often frustrated trying to find similar information, your willingness to freely and easily share this information was a lifesaver for any level, but especially amateur, researcher. Thank you. I love the variety of the videos presented and your commitment to professionalism.

Thank you very much for your comments! It's not enough to interpret historical sources, it is important to share the sources we rely on. It is why Going to the Source is our favorite series.

Which is our favorite source or account? That's like asking a parent which is their favorite child. Both of William Strachey and George Percy's accounts are good options, but its hard to only choose one account. @@JYFMuseums Ha ha I know you give my dear Cousin Bartholomew credit. I just have to rub it in because his Uncle Robert Gosnold 111 is my Grandfather 10 times removed.
