Fun fact, Mario's roots are in jazz drumming which in my opinion is why he's so good on a technical level. I know you've gotten it a lot but I think where dragon's dwell at hellfest is absolutely fantastic as well.

Backbone is so fucking good! And I feel it's awfully underrated, it rarely gets mentioned as one of Gojira's greatest. That middle section where they go full blast beat with the guitar solo is just killer...

Man you almost brought tears to my eyes, I am french and indeed Gojira is out of this planet. It has its own identity and can't be compared. It is master craft. I am very proud of what they achieved internationally. The metalhead community here doesn't fuck with Gojira ! They are the kings pretty much. Their early style is very influenced by the Toulouse metal scene in the early 2000's, with bands like Manimal and other I can't remember. Sounded very aggressive, with alot of different phases, using various metal techniques, built for us to understand. That's what we hear in backbone, this "touch". Today they have matured, evolving into something more progressive and they still manage to make very good pieces of music. And you know, the drummer maaan !

Yus! I looove this track. Regularly turns up on my playlists. There's a touch of the Morbid Angel to their songs, musically at times at least, but with such a great sound and precision. On the plus side, I've not been around much lately and just watched this along with your Pit of Consciousness vids back to back. My wife has surgery on Monday and seeing you two just rocking out to quality music has lifted my spirits. So thanks as always for the best, most honest reactions out here! 🤟

Jeff Goddard Whats up Jeff glad I caught this I’ve been meaning to get back to you from your comment earlier. 💯 they’re influenced by one of the greatest death metal bands ever being Morbid Angel. You absolutely made my day catching onto that as well. I believe I mentioned it the 1st time I heard a Gojira track. I was like, this sounds like MORBID ANGEL!!! probably one of many reasons I instantly liked the band right off the bat. And I couldn’t agree with you more this band much like Jinjer have been able to take what has been done on countless occasions and completely flipped it. Making it sound new again if you will. I have wanted to say this for the longest time. I think it is amazing how you opened up a side of yourself to your wife that you weren't sure she would like or not. And she followed you trustingly into this new landscape of metal that she had never tasted of before and has fallen in love with this new side to her husband. It is so cool how good music no matter what it is has the power to transform things...like improving an already awesome marriage.

The Retro Theater Oh, no she’s known this side of me since the beginning. She’s been to plenty of my own shows back when I was playing in bands doing the whole touring/grinding music business side of things. But you’re spot on about her taste in music. Until now she couldn’t wrap her head around metal music. It was just to foreign to her. But now her 3 favorite bands are Gojira, Jinjer & Tool. And it’s crazy to think she’d enjoy music that has elements of death metal because she’s heard plenty of death metal I’ve played before. But these 3 bands just have something so unique it grows on people that aren’t normally into this sound. Because like you said, good music is good music regardless of the genre

Gojira is the most important metal band in recent history in my opinion. I’ve seen them once at Sonic Temple festival and although it was a shorter set, it was insane and when they played this song, the last section dropped and I swear the entire place was shaking

Chance Campbell 💯 For what I’ve witnessed so far they might be the best live metal better ever. Right now to me Gojira & Jinjer are the most exciting bands in metal to come along in years......both bands are completely on their own level 🔥🔥
