That is why when toji came out of geto's worm that ate him, gojo said: "That's a different sword than the one that he stabbed me with", because he was not going for a sneak attack anymore so he could use cursed weapons. Also when Toji stabbed gojo he didn't had his cursed spirit with him, so there is no way for him to get close to gojo with a cursed weapon. Tengen used to be completely pure (woman), and taught people jujutsu. She/they (merging with a male makes her not a pure woman anymore) then got more important in the hierarchy, only meeting with people at the top (like a god type structure, this is how the misunderstanding happened maybe). Tengen now has the strongest barrier techniques. This makes it possible for jujustsu high school to exist (he protects there word (like a god)). Barriers are usually bad at detecting non sourcerers. So basically Toji messed everything up. I could be wrong about this but this is what I have come to understand. Tengen has a immortality curse technique. You need to rewrite your body every 500 years. If you do not have a vessel it will merge automatically with someone. This someone could be bad. You wouldn’t want that because they could change Tengen into doing bad things. I have no fing clue if this is legit just looking it up and using ChatGPT
