Trunks Made The Mistake Of Using Super Saiyan Grade 3. Increasing his power but reducing his speed, Vegeta knew about this weakness & refrain from using it. Jus shows how much experience plays a factor in combat aswell

Ultimately It's not a mistake, it's his only chance. Just learn tactics for winning with less speed and more power. I mean your ki blast speed should be fast for example. Play defensive, wait for openings, punish

You hit the nail directly on the head! Super Saiyan Grade 3 increases your raw power but decreases your speed...a weakness cell knew already that's why he still was confident cause his speed was much faster then he was showing them

Still, Trunks did way better than Vegeta, and like the other one said above, there would have been tactics for Trunks to try out to go arpund his slow moments. He wpuld not have won but again, much better chance at winning compared to grade 2

People tend to forget Cell is made up from Goku too. Goku immediately understood why that form wouldn't work therefore Cell would have understood immediately too when he saw it.

It’s been many years but I vaguely remember reading that USSJ is physically almost as strong as SSJ2, but because of the complete loss of speed it counts for almost nothing.

@@bensnod9159still not close to ssj2. Don't forget cell eventually used this form in a fit of rage and still Gohan ssj2 pretty much one shotted 18 out of him

There are four individuals who can transform into Ultra SSJ aka Super Saiyan Grade 3: Trunks, Vegeta, Goku and Cell. Trunks demonstrated this power as we've all seen. Goku learned this form while training with Gohan inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber at 9:22. Cell showed Trunks that he can also tap into Ultra SSJ power at 11:07. Trunks realized that Vegeta can also transform into Ultra SSJ but decided not to use it because of its huge flaw which is the speed disadvantage at 12:10. Cell's power is big enough to overwhelm Trunks though without powering up to USSJ. That's why he relied on speed instead. In conclusion, Vegeta, Goku and Perfect Cell knew of Ultra SSJ aka Super Saiyan Grade 3's weakness of slow speed except for Trunks. Trunks was the only one who didn't know this.

It's full power SSJ, but you have bigger muscles and therefore more strength, but not much speed. 03:25 Another training scene between Goku and his son. Goku now shows him his new USSJ level with light lightning, and Gohan will follow his beloved father, he must if he wants to move on. 06:15 Yes, what Goku said is right, he has a weakness in terms of speed, too much energy is absorbed by the muscles. The strength is much greater, but the speed leaves much to be desired. Therefore, you need to be stronger, lighter and offset the use of such a huge amount of energy, you just need to keep going to SSJ 2. Cell explains this to Trunks. 09:25 Already at this point it is wrong that Gohan says that you can defeat Cell while in USSJ form. Goku wisely explains to his son that you can't, you are strong, you have bigger muscles, but you are too slow, too much energy is wasted. You have to go further for SSJ 2 which is a MUCH MORE POWERFUL level, it uses practically no energy and you can master it quite quickly and your body doesn't get so tired. Apparently Cell wants to organize his tournament based on the martial arts tournaments from the basic Dragon Ball.

For those who didn't figure it out, Vegeta was the first to attain and subsequently discard this USSJ form. He saw the weaknesses and knew it would be useless in battle to push it too far. Cell was playing Trunks which sucks as Trunks is a real G. So, Trunks wasn't stronger. Vegeta could do it, Trunks and now Goku.

One thing I never got about this fight is why Trunks didn't just blast Cell instead of going hand-to-hand. His physical speed was lowered, but that doesn't mean his energy beams are going to be slower. If anything, with this increase in his power, they should be faster.

@@ZarrarAAli That depends on the build up of the scene. They only take 42 episodes to charge an attack for dramatic effect. Once they've done that initial scene, the moves don't generally take that long to perform and we'd already seen all of Trunks' moves by that point.

I love how Goku powers up to ultra super saiyan. Yet he realizes about it's weakness and decides to refrains it from using it. Even Vegeta knew about that form, but Trunks didn't noticed the weak point. He was so confident of it's incredible power than focusing on it's speed. Now Cell is planning a tournament for the whole world.

Honestly Cell's statement that Vegeta knew the flaws of Super Saiyan Grade 3 might be true. But at the same time he wasn't smart enough to figure out there's a better step beyond that. Something Goku did figure out. The man that trains the most always gains the least.

Cell deciding to make a tournament was one of the biggest curve balls in the show.😂 It seems like the more he gets stronger, the more his mannerisms are influenced by his genes. This was definitely a Goku and Vegeta move for sure.

The fact is while Ultra Super Sayain may increase the users raw powers, but the drawback of speed is crucial and no wonder Goku and Vegeta reframed from using it since it'll be a hinderence to catch the opponents. This is info the Vegeta could've told his son, but as always arrogance and his ego is what got him knocked up in the first place by Cell and want to to defeat him in his condition. Man get real.

Vegeta could reach that level of Trunks power but he did not do so because if his muscles grew that would hinder his movement speed.

Trunks this was a learning experience for him he's still young so he's going to make mistakes. Vegeta could have made that transformation himself and he knew about it but he didn't do it because he knew this would happen. So Vegeta seeing Trunks in this transformation would not be impressed he got stronger but he's slower than a snail. Vegeta would call him fool eventhough he's the biggest one for letting Cell obtain his Perfect Form. You'll never catch Cell like that nor will he ever beat him. That's why when Goku obtain this transformation he knew right away this would not work. And a couple episodes back Piccolo was not excited or impressed. My favorite part is when Goku obtained that transformation he said Gohan watch me. The music and Goku screaming 🔥🔥🔥

The Super Saiyan grade 3 is a better power for less speed. And speed is essential in a fight. Like Cell said : what can an enormous power can do if you can touch your enemy? Anyway it's nearly the time for the Tenka Ichi Budokai...sorry, the Cell Games!
