I agree with you got the same feeling i also learned this year ( recently) that initially he wanted him to stay dead on namek but since they were alot of people that like Vegeta character he made him a "usefull" character as you said I feel like Vegeta is always used as power check char like (damn Vegeta lost the ennemy must be strong etc etc) still my favorite char so far

He struggles because of his pride? His biggest flaw? The thing that he believes makes him who he is is actually the thing that holds him back? In story telling sometimes characters will have a fatal flaw that the character doesn't realize? Goku gets better because he has many masters that improve him through training and teaching him their techniques. You think Vegeta would ever take tutelage under anybody? 😂 They went into the hyperbolic time chamber as pairs because they were supposed to have TRAINING PARTNERS, having a training partner makes you better lol you could always go in by yourself, Goku lied at the beginning, of course it did nothing for Vegeta's hard headed ass Of course db super would epically miss the point of Vegeta's entire arc which ended in buu saga by rejecting his ego and pride and getting him back to not shutting up about his pride again lmao

You don't achieve full power super sayijin by training *intensely*Goku made that clear when he said ,"punishing your body isn't training". OVER TRAINING with zero rest can make you *WEAKER*.

@@mrshykun662 Actually Toriyama wanted Vegeta to die in the fight against Goku. But because the character grew in popularity so rapidly he wasn't able to get rid of him. Instead he took opportunity's to kill off Vegeta whenever possible only for him to be revived later. He's taken this opportunity 3 times so far.

@@josuebarboza9809 While his Saiyan Pride is a character trait it doesn't mean it automatically makes you a dumb idiot. But Toriyama specifically wrote Vegeta in this way to advice the plot. Also Goku having many masters in training shouldn't be an factor. As mentioned Vegeta was known to be a child prodigy. Simply put he didn't really require training from someone else. Even without having a training partner Vegeta would have been smart enough to figure out how to master SSJ especially after going in for a second time. Goku didn't need to have Gohan present in order to understand that they could master the SSJ form. Also DB Super having Vegeta not rejecting his ego was intentionally done otherwise he would have been made into a boring character and the franchise would lose a large portion of their fanbase. Nobody would want to see a Vegeta without his pride and ego and accepting the role of second best next to Goku. I would have rather have Toriyama permanently kill off the character instead of making him boring. But as I mentioned before this is because of Toriyama. As stated he found the character useful to have around because whenever he needed to advance to plot he did so by using Vegeta as a punching back or having him make stupid choices.

And I’m not making excuses, in this episode Vegeta was more curious than jealous of Gokus powers as he has yet to see him in action, he will get a taste of his power when he powers up for Corin, then yes, he will certainly be bitter about it
