In the actual show, Chi-Chi made Goku go get a driver's license. Goku forced Piccolo to go with him, and that car scene was Goku and Piccolo's driving exam. They turned it into a race.

Goku and Piccolo driving was from an episode where Chi-Chi demanded that they get licenses to drive. The people in the cars with them are the instructors

Explanation: As trunks explained, Goku died of an unknown heart virus, and everyone else was killed by the androids, only Bulma, chi chi, ox king, master roshi, puar, oolong, Gohan and Trunks were the only surviors after 13 years of pain, suffering and darkness of the androids. Future Bulma invented a time machine so that Trunks can go back, kill Frieza and King Cold in Goku's place, and tell him about the android threat, as well as give him heart medicine that should he experience any symptoms, he must take it immediately. Then Trunks left and will return in three years time.

I swear the cholesterol joke makes more sense. Goku literally having the typical shonen Eat tons of stuff diet, it feels like something Toriyama would come up with as a joke that fits the vibes of original dbz

You are, Sun Wukong is the monkey king from the ancient Chinese fable Journey to the west. His name is translated into Son Goku in Japanese and Goku's design and supporting cast in OG Dragon Ball is based around it.

Galick! Gun! FIIIIIIIIRE!!!! So the driving. It’s the only universally agreed good filler episode from Z, as far as I know. Chichi demands Goku get his driver’s license, Piccolo also. You should watch it.

I always assumed that to be the source as well. Probably something he caught on Yardrat, which then slowly killed him over the next couple years because his body didn't have any natural defenses against it.

In the actual story before Raditz came, Goku wasn’t even planning to stand in front of Chichi and Gohan desires it Piccolo was the one who was forced it onto him.

the original series is better this is a parody so dont think the characters are like this ex. Gohan dont got dad issues nor do he complained about it, Goku isnt a complete moron, he is kind of slow due to head injury, better yet watch the original dragonball series (it way funnier than the abridged) then go into Z it will give yall more context to the story

For me, it's because it's funny, and also far easier to digest. The actual show is such a massive commitment, it can take months or more just to get through it once you start. Whereas with Abridged, I can watch it from start to finish over the course of a week or two. Making it far more accessible, and easier to watch on a whim. Making it far better for a quick fix.
