Power scaling in this movie is pretty screwy because the timing is shoehorned into the point of the story where Goku’s just recovered from the heart virus, Vegeta’s been training nonstop in space to reach Super Saiyan so he should be either equal to or even stronger than Goku. Also, Piccolo has fused with Nail AND Kami which SHOULD actually make him even stronger than Goku and Vegeta. Piccolo should be able to completely smoke Cooler in this movie but he’s treated like a side character in this.

You guys should try to watch/react to OG Dragonball after you finish DBZ Abridged, it’s actually just hilarious show all on its own without being an Abridged series by TFS. In regards to Roshi being this perverted in the actual show, I would say that he sort of is. He absolutely is when there's any women around (quite aggressively so, in fact), and definitely spends a lot of his free time reading pornographic magazines, or ogling over exercise programs on television. However, in the actual show, those perversions only tend to show themselves in those situations. In situations like these though, where there's no women nor porn in sight, he tends to not demonstrate those tendencies so openly as he does in Abridged. In short, he's the same or worse in the actual show when in the presence of beautiful women. But in any other situation, he doesn't act that way at all. He's much more of a sincerely wise martial arts master when not being immediately tempted.

Vegeta has two settings: Curbstomp or be Curbstomped. In the original version of this movie Cooler is beating him by the virtue of a plot device, which TFS cuts because it was silly. He's technically stronger than Goku at this point in the series, atleast according to Trunks, lol. But alas, the only time Vegeta gets an even fight in this series will be against Goku, lol. But the good thing about Vegeta is the fans love him, a lot more than Goku, so he'll have more opportunities to shine.
