Cheers bro, they key is that we just keep testing, testing testing until we find a spot we are happy with and if we don't we just walk back down and keep testing, we just don't really settle for only a little bit of gold anymore lol, although often it means when we are out prospecting we are not actually mining but when we do eventually hit a spot it's normally pretty good.

@@craigosgold5940 I was going to keep the location under wraps but really anyone who has been there would reconizge that it is at Goldsbrough fossicking area. It has been hit pretty hard but if you can find an untouched spot it's very good, we got our best trip in overall from there (be it moving a ton of gravel). Hi nice work, do mind me asking where can you sell the gold in nz? and do you need a license or anything? Thanks
@TheSluicers
@TheSluicers 2 жыл бұрын
Nah no license needed to sell gold and I believe no tax on it either. I haven’t actually sold any personally just stashed it up or given away on KZfaq, but I know just about any jeweller will buy it a little under spot, the New Zealand mint buys gold a bit under spot, selling alluvial gold on trade me or Facebook can be really profitable and yeah I’m no expert but those are a couple ways, I’m sure there is plenty more too.

Professionals says gold nuggets are really rare in north island, but still quite rare in South Island just saying.
@TheSluicers
@TheSluicers 2 жыл бұрын
Definitley, they are rare anywhere thus their price and excitement when found, in our entire prospecting history we had never found a single piece over 1/5th of a gram up until January this year, (since then we have found about 25+ pieces above that 1/5th of a gram margin we consider a nugget). But yeah extremely rare for sure especially at public fossicking sites.

Is gold mining allowed on the north island of New Zealand?
@TheSluicers
@TheSluicers Жыл бұрын
Sadly there aren’t any “public fossicking areas” but I’ll be honest if your just trying panning there are probably plenty of places you could try go. Any larger scale mining obviously needs a permit of which there are a few granted in the coromandel.

Yes let's mess with nature for a bit o gold
@TheSluicers
@TheSluicers 2 жыл бұрын
Well if you call it that, this is a creek that is hit by constant floods whenever is rains which naturally move 100000x the amount of dirt, and does that damage nature no, the damage done by moving around a few rocks is 0, maybe if we were digging into the banks and into the roots of trees then maybe you could call it doing some small damage but digging in the creek bed there are no life forms damaged or harmed if anything it benefits the ecosystem I have often seen peoples holes as sanctuary’s for things like Fish and Freshwater crayfish, yeah “Mining” mining can do some damage (eg full scale diggers mining bush) but even that is carefully monitored so it does not ruin the environment and even with smaller scale machinery like Dredges it does next to no damage unless your intentionally trying to. And yes it’s just a bit of gold but it can make a full time income for some and is a heck of a lot less harmful then so so many other jobs, yeah the old timers in 1860 did literally move mountains, wash out cliffs to get to the gold but no one knew any better then and the government was literally funding them to do so as it was so good for the economy it fueled New Zealand for what it became today, and modern day small scale mining like this, the damage is nothing. Sorry if I rambled on a bit there lol, it’s just small scale mining is not Messing with nature it’s just spending time out in nature, one person going off a track and treading on a dozen saplings probably does more long term “damage” to the environment then the intire Prospecting community combined. But all things aside thanks for watching and I hope you enjoyed the video :).

It is somewhat small gold no massive nuggets or anything but nothing super tiny like very little dust which is generally called "Fly shit" it all adds up though you can get way way more gold from a creek full of "Fly shit" then a 1 off nugget patch.

@TheSluicers
@TheSluicers 2 жыл бұрын
I was also worried about losing fine gold when I first started with that sluice bro but since then, I have tested that sluice 3 times out of river 3 times putting through even ultra ultra ultra flour gold in high flow and it catches easily 95%+ of all ultra fine gold and 100% of anything bigger then tiny flake, I have never seen anything bigger then a tiny spec in the tailings in all our trips and have lost almost nothing when putting through multiple grams of all sizes of gold from pickers-dust it catches a very large amount of the gold, there is a reason its so popular, it has a higher recovery rate then our orignal classic riffle sluice and even our massive Keene A52 seem to recover such a high %.
