Back in the 80s I tried prospecting in the sierra Nevada's. Many times I would spend more than your $175.00 on food, drinks, gas and other supplies. Drive three or more hours then hike for hours and find less gold. You got off pretty cheap. 😢

I'd love to do some mountain prospecting, but I'd definitely be rolling it into a camping trip so it isn't the main purpose of the trip, lol
