Outback Gold Fever

Metal detecting for gold nuggets requires a lot of patience, especially when it comes to prospecting new areas on a hot day. I start detecting early, rest in a shady spot during the middle of the day to explore more gold mining areas in the afternoon. There is so much history out here near Halls Creek in Western Australia, all gold mining related and there are still gold nuggets to be found today.

Krissy it's worth watching for the close up look of how rugged that country is. How tough the old timers must have been. Not a huge day but at least you got a bit of fuel money 💰. Might I suggest that when you return there with the 9,000(?) that you carefully cover both that old road and the sides for "spillage". There could also be "spillage" that has tumbled down the real steep sections until it hits a flatter part of the slope?? Worth a look!

Once the reed steer has had a run through the paddocks it makes detecting very easy. You notice that all those shafts were in one of the three grey shale bands. Stick to the grey.A fellow I drank with in hall's creek was an olde hand from there. He had a mate with a shopper They would fly over the grey shale ridges looking for any kind of diggings, Land, and detect around the area he made good money doing that. More than paid for the chopper. oz nuggets were plentiful.
@OutbackGoldFever
@OutbackGoldFever 2 жыл бұрын
A chopper would be awesome to have out here, so many areas I can't get to because it's inaccessible. there should still be bigger gold around the main workings close to the old town you'd think. gold might have been more plentiful back in the days but also not worth as much. i keep looking for the grey shale now, thanks for putting me onto that 👍🏻

Hello Krissy. Wow, so many mine shafts. Wouldn't want to wandering around of a night time, tipsy! Thankyou again for another great video. Couple of questions:- Is the 800 any good, let's say if the 700 was broken, would the 800 find anything (gold). Is all that ground I saw from drone footage private or can it be detected by anyone. Thanks Krissy. I do look forward to your videos and since I'm relatively new as a viewer there are still a few older ones of yours to explore. P.s. How long have you been detecting WA. and when are you going to venture back into those really isolated spots where dreams can still be made. Maybe. Cya mate! 🇭🇲🤗
@OutbackGoldFever
@OutbackGoldFever 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Robbie, the ground was all of the above, a mix of vacant crown land, pending and a couple of leases. Detectors are usually designed for either treasure OR gold. The choice of detector depends on what your targeted areas are. The Equinox 800 is awesome in parks and beaches and I have found gold with it as well but if you were to mainly look for gold a proper gold detector is probably the better choice.

@OutbackGoldFever
@OutbackGoldFever 2 жыл бұрын
When you see me driving through a shot I've usually flown the drone up, let it hover, drive through the picture and then land the drone. can't see much in the sun on that old phone screen so I view the footage on my laptop when I get back. while detecting I actually carry the controller in one hand while detecting with the other. bit tricky but i've managed a fly-by via moving the controllers without looking at the screen. i'll keep practising.

yes, it's starting to build up, looks and feels like the beginning of summer, sounds like it too with the detector interfering with charged atmospherics.

Yeah, I would say stop worrying about us and the site seeing ... for me "any" section of the Outback is a site worth seeing ... what I want to know is when are you going to go to an area where the surface gold is in fist sized clumps, and there are no footprints / tire tracks / old detector holes ? Getting you back on the gold before the heat gets too much should be a high priority.

Hi Alasdair, I'd love to venture further out again too but the heat is beating me already so prospecting within phone range is the safest option for me at the moment. I'll definitely head out further again soon - but I'm not quite ready yet to head out there on my own. Fist sized nuggets sound tempting though ⛏👍🏻

What metal detector would you recommend to a person who's a beginner in gold detecting? Love your show & positive attitude to finding gold.

There are many good detectors to choose from, keeping in mind where you want to detect (parks, beaches, gold country, etc.) but also how much you want to pay. Only spend what you can afford, it might take a while before you get a financial return from your finds. Happy hunting ⛏👍🏻

Start with hunting parks and beaches. Even a child's machine at $150 can find gold. I know I found gold rings and silver rings and necklaces with my son's Minelab go find 22. If you want to go find gold buy the Fisher gold-bug 2 at under $700 it is one of the most sensitive vlf machines for small gold and of course big gold. The Minelab gold monster is overrated makes a lot of noise Hard to Handle. The Minelab CTX 2300 is a pi machine pulse induction and it is very sensitive and does very well on highly mineralized ground meaning the threshold is quiet until you hit a Target. The cost is around 2,500 USD. It is good for 4 to 6in down. If you want to get in the big leagues you have to get the big Pi machines but no need to make a big investment like that for you at your beginning state. JJ from northern Cali

The Minelab gold monster is a good sensitive machine and I seen that it works best on Bedrock but is noisy on mineralized ground and cost $1,000. The Garrett gold machine is pretty effective for less money. There is also the macro gold Cruiser under $1,000 and this blasted machines can find gold to 3in down or so. The important thing is to practice and not become discouraged and you will become to know your machine and the noises that it makes whether it is vlf or PI. Chrissy's answer really covered it all

@@OutbackGoldFever Yes, I agree. Back when I started, there were 3 types of detectors. TR, Ground Balance, and Salt Water..well and under water too.. and there are detectors specifically tuned for gold, but I don't know that much about those..and how good they actually do what they claim.. The detector I have can tell you which coin you found and can discriminate between trash and good targets, but with discrimination on, you stand a chance of missing something. And the larger the search head is, it can find deeper objects, but is less sensitive to small targets.. So, you might want to get a detector that can allow you to use different search heads.. Best way to find out, is search for detectors on ebay and then look for a video about it on youtube.

Krissy is running the Minelab Equinox 800 in this video. Around $800 and a great machine for beaches parks and goldfields! I don't know if it there is a smaller coil for it to maneuver more closely in the terrain

Hey Krissy, think of this, every time you find a gram of gold you make this country richer by $60 and all those people that are doing nothing are making the country poorer.
