I am also a Taylor Swift fan🎉 To me, it was a tongue in cheek response (like Jennifer Laurences’). She knew the camera was about to be on her and she prepared for it. She kept a straight face through the whole thing, while she and her friend both sipped at the same time. She wouldn’t get (seriously) mad over something so petty. Entire stadiums of football fans have booed her lately and she just smiles and shrugs her shoulders. This was more of a “read the room” response. If you do great, you are asked back and are put on the short lists for hosting other major awards shows. However, if you bomb awkwardly in front of probably a billion people worldwide -- well, you don't want to be the part of the awards show that people are talking about the next day! I promise you, Jo Koy is down in the dumps this morning -- and likely has even fired someone on his writing or managing staff.... although the real blame should be squarely on his own shoulders! It cracks me up that people don’t realize what Taylor did was a bit of a bit also. When the NFL films her, she always has a drinking in her hand that’s why she grabbed her drink. The people on the view are the ones that need to get a sense of humor and stop reading into things.
@Cali_BIue6 ай бұрын
Also the joke about Taylor wasn’t that bad it was some of his other ones that fell short. I have a great sense of humor, and I barely found anything he said funny. Sorry, but there’s a lot of hosts and comedians that you can use as an example that did a great job hosting award shows.

I love Taylor swift but I think people like to pretend everything she does is an Easter egg and she didn’t smirk afterwards to prove she was playing around… she just looked pissed af so I think you’re reaching to try and protect her. She can’t take a joke

Maybe that isn’t what people expect of his material to be. As his materials always go toward Asians and Mexicans. This is uncharted waters for him and his audience. I just watched it and roasting celebrities isn’t his style at all like emulating “the roast of (insert celebrity)” format. The writers bombed it but this might also make him step outside of his boundaries and finally have some new material to work on in the future.

Jo Koy is an amazing stand up but the room didn’t know him and he didn’t know them. I have seen him in California and all his shows on Netflix. But this isn’t his thing, stand up is a different type of gig. Jimmy Kimmel is treated with respect because they all have to go to his show to plug their films. Rickey Gervais is amazing and insults them all, has no mercy, takes no prisoners and they fear him so they laugh. Maybe they should just send the statue home with a thank you note and call it a day! Frankly they don’t deserve a ceremony.

I’m a bit surprised by the ladies response to this. His jokes were offensive to women. Definitely read the room. Some of the biggest money makers at the movies were women-leading movies like Barbie and the Eras Tour movie. Taylor Swift and Beyoncé helped boost the economy with their tours. And Taylor’s reaction, um, I don’t see anything wrong with it. I mean, she didn’t jump up on stage and slug him. But I guess we didn’t learn anything from America Ferrara’s speech in Barbie. It’s literally impossible to be a woman.

Appreciate what the ladies are doing here, standing in solidarity with a loved and admired colleague. That said, he was not ready or fit for this gig! The jokes were crass, lazy, and in poor taste plus he casually threw his writers under the bus (classy). You need to know your audience and the caliber of the event you're playing in before accepting a job like this. Hosting gig is a hard but it's also a tremendous privilege and career milestone, if you take it lightly it's on you.
