The rules changed this year. If you think it's a try, even wort reviewing, if you think it's a try, you award a try and the bunker reviews it after. If you think it's a no try, you wait until play breaks down and then you stop time to get the bunker to check. In this instance, Sutton thought there was a "No Try" so he waited until the play was dead. However, something strange happened, the play finally died on what was definitely a try at the end, if there was no try before. So Sutton had to make a call on TWO decisions. I've been waiting for this sort of a call since 2014 (when I first imagined this scenario could take place). Considering the new rules, Sutton made the right call considering it looked like a knock on from Burgess at first. So no whistle was blown so as not to take the opportunity away from Brooks. Then the review happened and Burgess was rightfully awarded the try. I thought it was good officiating from everyone. And it only added to the drama of an amazing game. Easily my favourite so far this year (yes I am biased).

I know it's the rule, but they're better off just stopping play after Brooks' put the ball down, then checking Burgess' try. Don't like to see a "try" awarded then taken away.

@@peterpiper831 It's a good point, but the whole reason the rule changed was there would be a try scored, the supporting team's crowd would cheer but then they'd only go half up because more often than not, the Bunker would check the decision. So, they went with the "Award try first and we can go back if there was an error" ideal, so that fans could actually celebrate without doing so halfheartedly because of the bunker. What happened in this game is something I've been waiting for since I thought of the idea of scooping the ball up after a potential dropped ball and hoping the ref wouldn't stop play. It just so happened to occur after the rule change. This has never happened before and now that it has happened once, I doubt it'll happen again. The system works and it created a crazy finish. And tries get awarded and taken away all the time, this just so happened to be a more dramatic occurrence. This creates a more thrilling atmosphere at the ground and at home.

All teams do it to slow down play and at the end of the day u can’t kick a player in the head

@@aminyashed7338 he shouldn't have been charged for it because its reflex if you have a big bug or something on your leg you will try to kick it off because its instinct

It wasn't even a kick. The first motion of the leg is away from the player. It's as the leg comes back to straight that that shin contacts.

Ref didn’t see whether he properly grounded it or knocked it on at first and because you’re allowed to play advantage from a knock on he had to let it keep going in case he did lose it

It's a bizarre rule change. Those guys are celebrating while the other guy just runs freely to the other tryline. Lucky he didn't drop the ball or those Rabbitohs will be labeled complete idiots for not knowing the rules.
