As usual, a fabulously conceived and executed review. Definitely Connery's best outing. Honor Blackman is still my favourite Bond Lady. Classy, assertive and capable. She's strong in her own right , not by virtue of men being weak. Something that many current female characters could benefit from.

Is that some sort of code like wearing one earring? 7:00 - My question has always been, why do you hire so many actors in a movie who have to be dubbed by other actors? Best Bond film ever.

Many old-timers like both Goldfinger and Thunderball. Many younger fans for some reason do not care for the preponderance of underwater scenes in the later film. Doesn't bother me any though.

Another great review, but honestly, I thought Thunderball better than Goldfinger (and the movie is better than the book).

I'll have you know that neither of my grandmothers ever had a beer in their lives! Never watched a Bond movie, either. There might be a conenction.

I get they were trying to overcome the physical limitations the theft in the novel had, but movie Goldfinger's plan is worse. It doesn't really increase the buying power of his gold. It would just cause massive inflation. Also, Goldfinger has a gold fetish. Destroying gold or making it inaccessible to him is against his nature. The monetary value is secondary. Lastly, the economic collapse would destroy his businesses. Also, whereas in the novel his initial interaction with Goldfinger was conicidental and unrelated to his job, the movie turns Bond into an idiot who messed up a surveillance assignment without knowing why he was being asked to monitor the villain. He reveals that he's watching Goldfinger just to piss him off and steal his woman

Probably the most ridiculous part is where Bond opens up Tilly's car like a tin can, and only the popped tires are mentioned

I love Goldfinger, but I could never figure out why he blew millions on a flashy presentation to impress a bunch of mobsters, when he was just going to murder them all as soon as the presentation was finished.

6:02 not cool, man--- too soon

The character of Goldfinger...gives the appearance as a....good ol boy trucker from Alabama.....happy to be sitting in a truck stop eating pie served by a woman in a beehive...not a Bond villain

Ms. Galore's name in the movie is okay to say because it's the character's actual name, but in the book it was an unflattering mobster nickname (like "scareface") because she was a lesbian and a madame/pimpette. Therefore, in the book they literally were calling her "alot of vagina".

Goldfinger's motivation makes no sense. In the laser scene he tells Bond he loves gold for its colour and how he makes every effort to increase his supply. He doesn't mention its value. Therefore breaking into Fort Knox and not stealing any gold but just to increase the value of his own gold makes no sense.

I don't exactly hate Goldfinger or anything, but it's hard not to see every fault with the 1970s Bond films starting here. Perhaps it's my pure and undying hatred of Diamonds Are Forever seeping back into my perspective of Guy Hamilton's first Bond film, but I'm just not all that big on Goldfinger when I compare it to the SPECTRE saga around it.

I love your channel, but I disagree. Goldfinger is the most overrated Bond film, and only the third-best Connery film. "From Russia with Love" is a top five Bond film, and "Thunderball" is much better than GF.
