About Gold Shaw Farm: Gold Shaw Farm is more of a farm-in-progress than an honest-to-goodness farm. Our dream is that someday we are able to transform our 150+ acre parcel of land into a regenerative and productive homestead and farm.

When you go from sitting on your ass all day to walking long distances every day and doing heavy labor? You lose weight. Hel, just going from being on my feet all day as a cashier to having an office job had a huge impact on my body. I gained 15 pounds from that. In that same period, I also started eating healthier. So its weird how things like that can have a huge impact on your body.

Why? It’s not like this is an actual farm. He has invested a lot of money in the place but it still is not an actual working farm. He can’t even give his dog a dog house but he is only a dog. His “pond” is a mud hole that the birds swim in. Why would anyone buy an old broken down dairy farm to raise water fowl on? He talks like he has just achieved a victory when all he has is a field of birds and some young trees that he will never see grow anything. I sincerely hope he is enjoying himself because his livestock is severely challenged. He has to feed them GMO grain to keep them alive. That is not an environmentally healthy system. People who want to eat healthy are looking for grass fed meat not more GMO crap or livestock raised under the same kind of filthy conditions that the big corporate farms have. These birds may be outside but they are consuming crap most of the time. You are what you eat. Learning how to farm off of KZfaq videos is not the way to have a successful venture. Believe it or not most of these city farmers go out of business sometime during the first 7 years. If their own ignorance does not trip them up the corporate competition will push them out. Sad but true. Learn from the people who have succeeded, not from others who are feeling their way through at the same time.

I too am a town girl, but love watching your videos, although growing up we were made to experience farm like activity, as my father was an advocate of rural life. We had turkeys, chickens etc. We did our own eggs for a time. Later in life this inspired my sister to have chickens and sell her eggs. They actually lived in the country. I find your channel refreshing and isn't life in general a process of constantly learning and sharing that with others? Keep up the good work you guys!

If anyone has not watched Morgan's in 2019 and 2020, you really need to do so. I still am in awe of Morgan's commitment to his poultry. After the ducks were added, 365 days ago year, he carried and pulled food and water from the house and barn to his animals. You really should see Morgan dragging through the snow a red plastic sled with buckets of water. That is when I knew he was a true farmer was was following correct animal husbandry. My grandfather, born in 1887, was a sucessful and responsible dairy farmer for 80+ years so I know farming. Morgan, it made me so happy to watch you care for your farm every day. You are not becoming a farmer, you ARE a farmer!

It's great what you got now, you can be really proud of yourself. I must say, it's kind of funny watching your channel at times. You're obviously not familiar with many things and still have more of a ''city'' sense and look on things, but I like that about you. You're not born into the farming world and holding the torch where your family left it for you, you're starting from zero and building up. From hiring someone to build your Ikea furniture to building your very own coop. I think you're doing great and have great values for how you are farming and raising your animals. Keep it up.

"I know that the work is never going to be done, and in some ways that is overwhelming, but in other ways that concept is completely liberating" -- I just started myself a massive project similar to yours with no prior farming experience... and that way of seeing the overwhelming work and never ending problems as something "completely liberating" feels just like my new motto. Wish you the best!

After watching a bunch of your videos, I'm so happy to see this one. Not only does it show us your journey, it helps me put what I've watched into context. I really appreciate that. Also, can you teach the rest of us how to be so can-do and determined? I could use a big shot of that!

I enjoy seeing you progress and develop your farm. Years ago I had 75 chickens, 5 Ducks, and a dozen lop rabbits. I miss my crittees now, but am not in a position to raise more. We had predators, illness, and injury, but also grew from the experience. Keep posting your videos. I an especially fond of your ducks. 👍🦆

Thank you. Since I'm a relative late comer here, it was nice to get a quick encapsulated overview of your journey. I had no idea you moved from DC. Personally, I call that the best decision of your life. I wish you all the very best.

I am undergoing much the same journey now. About 4 months ago we bought a farm that has not been worked at all for at least 8-10 years. It looks a lot like what you started with, even the crappy old house. We don't have as much money as it seems you did, but I do have quite a bit of know how and ability but I do not have your youth as I turn 55 in July. We are starting with a couple pigs. I wanted chickens but the bird flu made me change course. You're inspirational.
