Most fun golfer to watch. Also the most inspirational. My favourite all time golfer. His attitude the best out of all the golfers that ever lived. Very sad Seve is gone. His death was very wrong evil to be precise. I am still a broken fan who has not recovered.

I worked the Bay Hill Tournament (known then as the Nestle Invitational) in 1900 and 91 and during a practice day, I caught up with Seve and asked him for his autograph in English. He kept walking and I then asked him in Spanish, he paused, gave me a wry smile, and signed my program. Perhaps the most imaginative player ever known.

Recently started to recount my meeting with Seve after all of my adulation watching him on tv. I was in Ireland 2004 and he was in Killenard golf course what he designed with Geoff Howe. I walked in on invite from a great lad Nigel Keane who was the son of the owner of the club. What happened next stays with me forever. Nigel introduces me to Seve saying "Seve, is like you to meet Derek" I could tell you a thousand moments in the two minutes existed. He shook my hand and placed his arm round my shoulder, signed my cap and was as grounded as any man could be. Inspirational doesn't come close. Legend and Magical

Seve looked so much in control in 1988, very calm and relaxed throughout the whole event, as if he new he was going to win, i followed, seve, price, and faldo on the Monday and it doesn't get any better, fantastic stuff

"Mr. Feherty... What's the craziest and/or best shot you saw Seve perform?" Here's a great Seve story, and golf in general... I was at Feherty's speaking tour, chatting his life in and out of golf, and at the end he asked the crowd if they had questions. I got picked. "Well uh, thank you Mr. Feherty... I remember you golfing in the same era as Seve Ballesteros. He was quite a creative shotmaker - what was the zaniest or best shot you saw him make?" Feherty:(sigh)"Well, it was back when I played in Europe... during a Match game - me and my partner vs Seve Ballesteros and his. So we were up by 1 on the 17th, a dogleg par 4. Bunkers guarded the corner. The weather was godawful, or in Scotland, "slightly damp" Me, my partner, and his drove the fairway, but Seve was in the fairway bunker - (one of those old British ones, where you needed a ladder to get into lol^^). Wind howling, we all chipped over the corner, then chipped from 80 to 100ish yards, and we all got about an 8-10ft par putt up ahead. I turned to my partner, nudged him, and whispered, 'Nice man, we got this one in the bag'. Well, Seve walked in the bunker with a three-iron... He takes a full swing, WAILS at the ball - gigantic puff of sand. It blasts into the side of this cavern, and goes flying some hundred feet in the air... Lands in the green, 4 feet from the pin, for a birdie putt. All our jaws had dropped. We were just staring at him.He took one look at us and in broken English goes... 'What? It's a... what you call in english... "Bank shot", no? Bah!" He tied it up, and we lost on 18.

Had Seve played a more Nicklaus tactician style.....he might have won a lot more tournaments.....but he wouldn't have been Seve......he was just amazing......only guy in history of pro golf who could shoot 80 and be ten times more exciting to watch than the guy who shot 65......god bless you Seve

The guy had it all. Adored by golf fans around the world. One of the most beautiful golf swings ever created. Men envied him, women were all over him. And then Cancer proved to us all even the greatest are still mortal. But maybe he's fist-pumping on some green in Heaven right now, having just beaten Gabriel, 1 up.

Starting with the famous chip between the bunkers at the 1976 Open nobody gave us more brilliant and memorable shots on the 18th hole around the world than Seve.

Seve won his majors while young faldo was around 30 for his 1st.

Yep. Seve had won all 5 by the age of 31. Faldo won 5 of his 6 after the age of 31. Interesting that Seve never expected to have a long career from the very beginning, because of his back and didn’t even expect to play the1980 masters because of it. Think it was a boxing accident when young. Given that, he probably lasted longer than he could ever have expected. Seve’s career was about far more than Majors. There was historically huge resistance to foreigners winning in America, particularly if they didn’t commit to the tour. I remember the huge resistance to Seve and the Europeans over there. Incredible to think Seve was the only european in the 83 US open and how so many Ryder cup winning players in the mid 80s didn’t get into the American majors. It’s far easier for Europeans today because of what Seve and those he inspired did. I always thought if he was American he’d have had 10 majors by the age of 31. If he didn’t have his health issues, he’d have won numerous more majors in his 30s. As for the European tour, it grew enormously throughout the 80s and onwards, because players like Seve didn’t abandon it for America.
