Hitting off a mat always makes great wedge shots ! Lie and area of the ball is key ! Would like to see this in a real golf course hit from fairways, rough and etc !

First of all I think the world of Dave Pelz. I think he is brilliant. My home course looks like a goat farm. The bunkers and greens are awful. I would love to see a tour player try to play in less than perfect conditions and see how they handle it. I know they are all great golfers, I know that, but the courses are set up so perfectly for them that there is very little variation between venues. The weather is the only variable. A professional bowler has the same odds of playing well and they are indoor. Every time I see a tour event- every lie is damn near perfect, the bunkers are all the same, the greens may be a bit fast or slow that day, but they all play on perfect courses. I wonder what my score would be if I didn't have to dodge washed out bunkers made of pebbles, fire ants, tree roots, mole crickets, pine straw, tree roots, inconsistent greens, pin placements that look like they were chosen by a retarded Beagle with epilepsy, yardage markers that were made by the same Dog, etc. Even when the tour players are in the trees they have a perfect lie. It's like watching someone shoot pool. It has become boring. I am no tour pro but nobody is going to beat me without a fight. I would like to see the PGA allow the courses to blend in with nature a little more and stop making every lie perfect just for the sake of TV ratings. Arnie, Chi Chi, Jack, Lee, Ben, etc. played on courses like you and I do and they were great. I want to see that again. Everyone would probably just bitch though. Just my two cents.

Pelz has obviously practiced a lot even though he flips the hands and releases the right hand over the left too much. Good results though.

No. When I hit wedges off mats I never worry about my wedge play. Mats are hugely forgiving and promote poor technique and good results. All that money spent on this artificial grass facility is possibly the worst investment Dave Pelz could have made in my opinion. Perhaps it's useful for the purposes of looking good hitting off these surfaces in these videos? Nothing on this facility is remotely like the real thing other than the bunkers and water. Wouldn't golf be easy if we hit off these surfaces all day long. His "other world of wedge play" is the phoney game played off these surfaces.
