Gombers Deep Dives Into... Moonbyul ft. Seori "머리에서 발끝까지 (Shutdown)" an analysis

Hi guys! So, I'm not really back just yet, but when Moonbyul dropped this I had to do SOMETHING for it. So I did a deep dive analysis of the MV and all the ways it's subtly sapphic. I hope you guys like it or share it with someone you think might like it :)
If you haven't watched that MV yet, I highly suggest doing that before going into this.

thank you for this!!! really great, thoughtful commentary! thanks for pointing out so many different little things in the mv! like the possible nod to portrait to a lady on fire! i never would have put that possibility together! and sappho is 100% nodding in approval of the lyrics!

Aww I’m glad you stumbled on this and enjoyed it!! The video was crafted together so subtly that I had to put a little thing together to see if anyone else caught them too. 😁🥰👍 Moonbyul did the entire community proud with this one. She really gave us a masterpiece 😁

@@elbotchk yes I agree!! The last time I felt represented like this in music was hayley Kiyoko and Muna’s silk chiffon! I’m gonna be talking about this song to everyone I know for awhile I know it hahaha

i love this video and your analysis, and i completely agree with your explanation of the significance. for me, my interpretation of the video was influenced a lot by the script teaser that was released beforehand. i saw it as seori not really being there for most of the video, but moonbyul not being able to get her out of her mind, and trying to distract herself until they could finally be together. but obviously there's multiple ways to understand it, and i think they probably intended for it to have lots of different levels and metaphor, judging by the lyrics!

I see that too! I feel like within the context of the whole album, and with the rest of the special clips, that’s going to be something that plays out ☺️ I think that’s another reason why this works so well too, the way it’s filmed and left up to the viewer really let’s it work as both a piece within a whole and as also something standalone.

Awww thank you!!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it. This is probably my favorite project I ever got to work on. Moonbyul gifted us such a beautiful and lovely gift I had to do something to express why it’s that amazing. 💚🥰

I remember the first time I heard it (with CC on) and being a hetero CIS male and knowing a bit about the conservative Korean culture... my jaw hit the floor. The only phrase I could think of is : "heck yes, you go girl!" It's a masterclass in how to make a representative song and MV. And on top of it, it's a song you can have on in the background when cudding up to your significant other (no matter genders) because of the entire vibe of the song., soft smooth sensual loving.

I truly think the song captures not only the sapphic vibes, but the universal yearning of when you earnestly just want to connect intimately and ugh. 1.5 years later and this song still hits just as much when it first came out. This song may not have gotten the mainstream love it deserves, but it will have a long lasting impact and appreciation for years and years to come.
