Yeah! I think I can. I am now about 40 years old. For more than 3 years now, I, every single day, have been listening to so many different videos. Videos, just like yours Gabby are ctucial for me to develop my american accent. I believe in that. It works for me, for sure. Hence, the answer for your question could be "YES". It could be a big yes, if a person wants to do that and be more active. If a person loves something, he or she will and can do it, no doubt! What do you think Gabby?

Thank you for your video, Gaby! I think English native speakers are those who were born into the English speaking countries, communities and families. All the rest who can use the language confidently should be referred to as bi-lingual persons. Those who can use it but within pretty tight limits, can be considered people with certain foreign language skills. This is my gradation which can be incorrect.

My definition of a native speaker is “someone that is deeply involved in the culture of that country and has been exposed to the culture since childhood”. As an example I am a native Italian speaker, I went to school all my life in Italy (except for College that I attended in California). During my childhood I learned fairy tales, watched popular TV series, studied Italian literature from the Middle Ages through the Renaissance up to modern times authors. Also I studied Latin, which is the base of all Latin languages and somehow helps me also with English. In conclusion I consider myself a native Italian speaker but not an English one since I miss all that background that make a person a native speaker. I can sustain extensive telephone conversations on most subject understanding everything and making myself understood, however sometimes I miss some jokes and cultural related issues that are the prerogative of U.S. culture. Finally, for all the reasons mentioned above, I do not believe I will ever become a native speaker like American born person. I get around pretty well with what I know so I am satisfied with my present knowledge that enables me to travel and work with all English-speaking countries. Still I got a peculiar Italian accent besides having a somehow limited vocabulary and struggling with spelling. Everyone is aware that I am not American, which does not seem to interfere with the quality and acceptance of my conversations. But I do not give up and I keep studying watching KZfaq videos (lately I started to watch video also in British and Australian English that is less intelligible for me but after few weeks it become all clear) and reading books in English hoping to improve my English fluency.
