Gryfflet is ready to plunge into the fray again, setting off in search of men of Gondor and Rohan who are fighting together, starting with Déorwine and Sakalbâr and following up with Fastred and Gimilkhôr, defeating Orcs as he goes. He is intrigued that, having met both of the Rohirrim, neither of the Swan Knights is familiar. At the urging of Fastred he searches for the sorcerer Crúmgam in vain but at least he is able to encourage some fallen Rohirrim. He returns to Théoden's side just in time to witness his final charge, the attack of the Witch-king, and the latter's defeat by Merry and Éowyn. Gryfflet is gratified to be asked by the dying Théoden to pass the banner to Éomer to mark the passing of the kingship and amused to discuss the tragic events with Gléowine the minstrel. He meets up again with Bregdal the errand-rider who has news of what is transpiring within the city: he asks us to protect Denethor and defeat the Gloom of Nurn. Taking a moment to consult Elfhelm about the progress of the battle, he decides to set off for the Silent Street (scaling down the difficulty having learned his lesson with the Black Serpent). Finding the porter slain and the door ajar he sets off in search of Beregond, but his way is barred by members of the Withered Tree, whom he manages to defeat without too much difficulty. He is perturbed by the appearance of a bunch of raised spirits but decides, after fighting some of them, to simply bypass them if that proves possible. It turns out that the only targets he needs to defeat at this stage are a pair of dead Kings who prove somewhat more of a challenge, as do the mob of Gloom Spirits who fill the next courtyard. In fact these manage to kill him, and it takes a couple of tries to get through them to the final boss, the Gloom of Nurn, who is even worse. In fact it proves necessary to call in some assistance with whose help the Gloom is defeated, allowing us to witness the confrontation between Gandalf and Denethor, and the latter's final moments. Gryfflet returns to the battleground where Bregdal is aghast to hear what happens but implores him to continue. Pausing briefly to repair his damaged equipment, Gryfflet makes ready to continue next session.

"Best instance ever!"
"Look, I'm eating food!"
"Who's your daddy?"
"Why are these guys awake and, more importantly, why are they fighting me?"
"I'm not afraid of them, it's just tedious!"
"Ooh, now that is a pyre! Holy cow!"
Once again, we were so busy enjoying the game that there was no space for extra Lore discussion, although we did have some time to consider the matter of the Withered Tree while Gryfflet slaughtered them, and then to question the appearance of the dead spirits while he dodged them.
