Glad I found your channel. I'm installing LOTRO now, going to be trying it for the first time. Not sure why I haven't tried it before now; I kept meaning to, then forgetting. But, no longer! Looking forward to following your channel for this help :)

Interestingly, for me it's the Runekeeper, which I started out with (yellow tree). I have most of the other classes as well (to have all the crafting classes), but the RK is still my favourite - easy to play, fast killing. Set a runestone in the middle of a camp of mobs, that's it. For elites maybe a few extra lightning skills. My second choice might be the Warden. But in one way or other, I like most classes.

I started playing again last year and was leveling a champion, and got her to about 50 something (never got her out of Moria) before switching to Hunter. Got my Hunter to 80 something before getting annoyed in Rohan and took a year long break, and just recently started playing again. Made a new hunter. Even though I have the other one, I couldn't remember exactly how I was playing her. First hunter has access to fast travel, but my new one doesn't lol. Planning on leveling the new one up to around the same area (yay more lotro points), then switching back to my old hunter just for the fast travel. Hunter is definitely one of the most F2P/Non VIP friendly classes. Those travel skills are absolutely essential. =D

I haven't really found a class that isn't decent at soloing landscape. My issue with LotRO is endgame 140+ rinse and repeat instances to get a chance at increasing gear to rinse and repeat to increase gear to rinse and repeat to incre...you get my drift. I have found an enjoyment of creating new characters and finishing areas (in landscape) while using the tortoise shell and meandering around Middle Earth experiencing the adventure at a slow and visual pace. I have found I don't care about end game anymore and with that, any class is easy to solo, but hunter, lore-master, beorning, and minstrel are my current meanderers of various low levels (sub level 100), and RK, guardian, champion, captain are my over 100 but pre 140. (I do have a LM, mini, and hunter that are 140 but stopped playing them)

Endgame is entirely pointless when Middle Earth exists to explore :)

I have a solo Guardian at 140 which I enjoyed playing, but my second character was a blue-line Hunter (now 140 as well) and wow, what a difference in speed and ease of solo play! Hunters have such fabulous utility powers...in addition to the guides and campfires, there's the the run-speed boost, Desperate Flight, the tracking options, etc. IMO, the nice thing about playing a Hunter as your second character rather than the first is that it is a particularly great completionist option. It's so easy to explore and do all the content, allegiances, etc. Highly recommended!

If you can push past, I think the Lore-Master really shines when you get into the Legendary Items territory (50+). I've had an absolute blast on mine even though they are slower than, say, the hunter.

Hunter is my fave for solo for the exact same reason. Though my RK enjoys a similar experience with having unlocked a bunch of extra milestone slots and the 5 min cooldowns for both kinds of travel
@Renfail
@Renfail Жыл бұрын
I haven't played my RK in like a decade; I wasn't aware they had travel skills?
@Moondymon23
@Moondymon23 Жыл бұрын
@@Renfail oh they don't. I mean more like 'hurried traveler' and that kind of thing. there are lots of travel skills any class can acquire at major hubs, that sort of thing. Those make a big difference for my RK, but Hunter has by far the best and most fluid travel, heck they even just run faster, they don't have to run up to mobs to engage, it's just all around slick.

You should try Beorning! +68% runspeed out- and indoors and it just obliterates group instances by itself. You also hit Orcs with a club and you bear hands. Great fun!

Great job going through the classes, I just find that everyone chooses hunter due to the travel options. I am curious what the choices would be if one was to disregard the travel capabilities of hunter and warden as to put all classes on an equal footing when soloing. Myself, I have atleast one of every class except warden. I can not for the life of me wrap my head around gambits 🙄. I do have issues though deciding what to play as I tend to over think things and then I start bouncing around characters like a squirrel looking for that missing nut pile lol.

And it's the most difficult class to play
@Renfail
@Renfail Жыл бұрын
Yeah it's not on my list :) It's way too difficult/advanced to play, and is thus not a "best" solo class. We're looking for things that are easy for novices to jump into. The combo-heavy Warden is not one of them.

@@Renfail to each their own, i don’t think its difficult to play, actually i think its the most fun class to play in any mmorpg. Because i can play it with my eyes closed and am looking at the combat and not at the interface.. but then its a good thing people like different playstyles, altough being difficult to play does not make it a bad soloing class?

Wait, is that true of all epic quests that you can get an inspiration buff when playing solo for fellowship content? And do you need to drop the quest and pick it back up? If you’ve had it in your quest log for years?
@Renfail
@Renfail Жыл бұрын
It's been that way for a long time now, yes. Any of the epic "book" quests that used to be fellowship based can now be run as either a group or solo. And, in the case of those which don't give you the option to choose, you are either straight-up given the Inspiration buff, OR you are given a stone you can click which gives you the buff. So yeah, I would assume if you have the quests from years ago you can simply boot them, and re-pick them up! More info here: lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Inspired_Greatness

Great video but the Beorning after the rework and with update 39 ist pretty strong solo. Maybe the strongest class next captain solo. I can do stuff on a level I simply cant with my guardian . Go blue Beo and you do decent damage while be tanky with a strong self heal .

This is a good overview, but I have to say there's a difference between "my personal favorite" and "recommended." More objective reviewing might be more helpful, although you could just say "this is just what I like best," which is honest but less useful to others. Also: please don't call the minstrel MENSTRUAL. Think of it like "minister" instead--a minstrel ministers to others. It's a pronunciation thing.

Really you have played LOTRO for 15 years and you don't have a max level i use to play WOW and when i left when WOD came out i hade more then 2 max level of every class in WOW most classes i had three one for every spec line druid i have 6 max levels and my main kity druid was also fully maxed with BIS items so no you have no excuse not to have at least one max level of every class if you have been playing for 15years

@@Renfail So Salty just stating the facts you cant call your self a gamer make guides and tell people how and wat to play if you your self have not and end game is a big part of any MMORPG even games that is regarded as the end game starts at level 1 like GW2 and FFXIV and yes i also have more then a couple of years in each also have a maxed out every class in GW2 and have fully legendary gear with ascended trinkets in GW2 and also have a character in FFXIV with every job maxed out so yes either your just playing extremely casually or your like most people talking about something you know nothing about and pretending you do
