I’d say they always had a unique sound and I liked a lot of the garage punk also. He wound up the strings randomly on Name and Iris and all the other hits to give them that beautiful open ringing, but if you listened to We Are the Normal off Superstar Car Wash in ‘93…I mean bands don’t make that kind of song

Kids now days will never really understand what really good music is. The 90’s was where it was at. Rap was real gangsters trying to get outta the hood, rockers were singing about something that touched your soul, country was something anyone could listen to and relate and pop made you and your friends sing along but pretend you never heard the song. Good times

@@glhmedicyou could say this. Just take a moment to think about 2000’s music has really fallen off in the 2000’s. The 90’s was the last good decade for music all around. When country and pop are fighting for #1 spot in the 90’s it was crazy that does not happen today. Michael Jackson, U2 and Garth brooks were going back and forth to get the top billboard spot. Then so many good bands and music out then. What has 2000’s brought us? Not much. 80’a had some Fun stuff too but maybe not like the 90’s. 70’s alright too. So 70’s-90’s best music we have ever had

When I moved to the United States in 1999 I was a 13 year old teen. I would listen to the radio or watch MTV, and loved the Goo Goo Dolls. I wanted to know what they lyrics said, and I can attribute these lyrics to one of the reasons I was driven to learn English. I can look back at those times, with me and my notebook and dictionary, sitting in my room. Thank you Goo Goo Dolls.

They were supposed to play in alfred NY that night and we got bumped by one day....this is the first I've seen of that performance....other than the original airing, they flew back east the next day and played the SHIT out of Alfred University. Johnny came out wearing an OJ Simpson jersey that he wound up throwing in the crowd right to me. I have the jersey framed on my wall and the memory of both the tonight show, then the fucking AMAZING show they put on for us as thanks for the wait!!!!

Yep they were literally what I call "bro punk" with dumb songs and unsuccessful albums. Its worth checking out to anyone because it's shocking how different they used to be. The bassist did the singing (shouting?) and Rzeznik was an 80s style guitarist. Then idk what happened to them, but they became excellent songwriters and Rzeznik turned out to be an extraordinary singer. This band's history is the strongest example that any band can turn out to be great, regardless of their start
