Good Charlotte is a pop punk band from Waldorf, Maryland who, have played a vital role in the alternative rock, emo, punk rock community. Starting out in 1996, they found success with their debut self-titled album, with two of its singles - ‘Little Things’ and ‘Festival Song’ - both charting in the Top 10. Among their top songs includes, “The River,” "The Anthem” and "I Just Wanna Live". Additionally, the group have charted six songs in the US Hot 100, the most successful being 2002’s ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’, which went to No. 1 on the Alternative chart. Good Charlotte’s signature sound has made them one of the most recognizable bands of the genre, garnering them a handful of MTV Video Music Awards and an NRJ Award over the years. Throughout the years, the group has continued to produce solid releases with consistent collaborations, ranging from Waka Flocka Flame and Waterparks to Sam Carter. Good Charlotte marked their two-decade anniversary with the release of their seventh studio album, Generation Rx, highlighting their standing as one of the definitive names of the genre.

I do miss Good Charlotte, but everyone grows up, it's just that we associate these old music tracks with good, old memories that make us feel nostalgic and that the future will never be the same for some people. What's funny is seeing people post these comments on how 'punk' Good Charlotte were, which indeed they were punk. It's just that 12 years ago (if anyone remembers) there used to be so many Anti-Good Charlotte websites (some of which are still up but inactive) claiming that Good Charlotte weren't punk, fast forward 12 years and people have changed their opinions, as to what everyone does over time. Although, I do miss the early 2000's an awful lot.

Chizzey-Rose Lavigne They were so good before they got pimped out by Hot Topic at a discount. It was refreshing when they came out with "The River". It felt like they grew up in a way some bands like Taking Back Sunday never seem to do.

I saw these guys last night, and they played this. It was pretty cathartic actually. They hadn't aged a bit. I was really impressed, someone in the audience yelled "How's Nicole Richie!?". They really love their audience and seem like genuine people. Jolly good lads.

Geez. i remember i had this red plastic hockey stick i used to pretend was a guitar, in my GC beanie, wishing so badly i was with them while hopping around my room. I had to have been around 10. They've got a special place in me for sure. So glad all these are on youtube for me to revisit. Damn

haha...I had a broom as a microphone holder and a brush as a microphone...pretending I was with them at their concert. Like everyday I came home from school. Maybe they weren't the best bend in the world, but as you said they hold a special place in my heart...as do blink 182. :D

My Baby Sister was a great fan of Good Charlotte. She sat me down and made me learn her favorite songs. GC was one that she went to a lot of shows. She actually met you all a few times. Unfortunately she passed away in 2017 the day before Thanksgiving. I always thought Benji was interested.

Saw them live during the Warped Tour in 2001 (I think) and my friend got his picture in the paper because Benji put the microphone in his face due to how much he was singing. It was an awesome concert and I remember it fondly!

To all you guys out there who say bands like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan, and Sum 41 aren't really punk, you're wrong. Punk is about embracing your differences and not conforming to the masses. Thus, punk is always different. That's what makes it beautiful and special.

Around 03, a kid from down the street ran a small video downloading store with a PC that had no internet access. All the videos were in the inbuilt storage, in folders and we could choose. All the kids from around the corner went there. We eventually became the best of bros. And, we'd just hang there all day after school, fire up that PC, smoke cigarettes and blast these records. This banger was on there. Some of the best years of my life. We had a fallout. And, they were the only people I could hang around being my true Punk self. Good days.

I dont know why everyone is talking about religion, I dont think this song is about religion, or faith at all for that matter. I always thought this song was about depression and finding the strength to get motivated, to start living again, and getting out of that depressed mood. Thats what i always thought this song was about, and it brought me comfort in my episodes of depression.
