I know I'm late to the party, but I finally got around to this one. Don't have a clue what its all about really, but I kind enjoyed this one. Particularly the first half. I'm a sucker for the post apocalypse. And the surreal. It's hard for me to make a connection between the two halves, and I'm not really sure a re-watch would help, but I thought it was worth watching. You are spot on about that "joker" sequence though. That was not good.

This film is like The Holy Mountain or El Topo. Much like a Jodorowsky Film. I dug it. Maybe a little Tarkovsky, David Lynch, and Terry Gilliam? I loved the Non-Linear Timeline.

I'm with you, the first half was strong but then it just got too weird without enough explanation or intrigue to warrant it. It annoyed me quite a bit that the director didn't explain any of this in the almost 40 minute interview on the disc. Its a film I will keep in my collection, perhaps to share with others but won't go back to it soon. Maybe just show people the apples scene and see how they react :D

@@manvfilm whats funny is the director said at least twice that that was his favourite scene. Apparently inspired by a painting. Can't wait to find a date who is weird enough to have a Goodbye 20th Century roleplay 🤣. What a waste of apples

This is one of those surreal films that I feel like has more symbolism than I necessarily caught on to. It definitely felt Lynch inspired and would probably take a second viewing to fully appreciate. Overall I enjoyed it. Yes the "joker" character was or seemed a little forced. I just didn't get that part either. But the last third of the film saved it for me. I enjoyed the Santa and his "friends" having a little party at the end of the world, scene. It was, for the most part, pretty amusing. This film should only be watched when one is feeling, let's say, a bit spaced out and looking for something odd to watch. A decent film but with a disclaimer firmly attached.
