Goodbye Couch? RV Remodel & Ohio's Total Solar Eclipse!

In this episode of Wandering Wagners we experienced the total solar eclipse at our home in Ohio then visited Bontragers RV Surplus to do some shopping for a new replacement for the couch in our Nexus Super C RV!
Ohio was in the direct path of the total solar eclipse and we were lucky enough to be able to witness it together at our home base with the dogs. We really enjoyed seeing it first hand and it's something that video and pictures will never do it justice vs seeing it with your own eyes. Truly something magical to see!
Next we traveled to Bontragers RV Surplus in White Pigeon, MI so we could look for new theatre seats, to replace the couch in our RV. Our Wraith was supposed to have been built with theatre seats from the factory but for some reason, it came equipped with a pull-out sofa bed. We have never used the pull out bed and really wanted space where we could both lay comfortably and watch TV, and theatre seats were the answer! At least this way, we could get the color scheme we wanted. We were never a fan of the 50 shades of tan/yellow cream all of the furniture was in the RV to begin with. Now, the couch was the LAST piece of furniture from the Nexus factory that needed to be changed out!
We were able to find a brand new dark brown theatre seat set and brought it home, hoping we could make it work. With a few adjustments and a run to ‪@HomeDepot‬ for plywood we were able to make it work, so we could have a full recline of the seats. What do you think?

Wow! Your time lapse on the eclipse was one of the best we've seen. Plus, a project is not officially a project until a trip to Home Depot is taken. Fun video as always.

Loved watching your reaction to the Eclipse. We had the same experience across the lake. One of the most unique things I've ever experienced. We couldn't believe how cold it got as well. My wife loves your new seats.

We purchased Thomas Payne chairs to replace pull our couch in the RV before our 5th wheel. We kept them for our 5th wheel and put the other couch back in. Duane falls asleep in them all the time. You got a better deal than us but it was worth every penny. We stayed home for totality due to truck issues. We loved it as well. Great video as always. Deana

We went to that RV parts store back in January, it is amazing all the cool stuff that’s there. I think you could get everything to build an RV from the ground up there.

You did a real nice job changing out that furniture! It looks so much better! By the way, quick follow up to a comment from several months ago when you were doing walk-throughs at your local RV dealer. Partially thanks to you I take delivery of the identical twin of that fifth wheel Jayco you went through in a few days from that dealership. We both said the same thing, that it was cooler than what we thought it was going to be! Unfortunately the cameras brightened up what we were seeing with our eyes but still cool to experience

We enjoyed the eclipse in our yard too. It was amazing. Pictures don't pick up the starry look of the moon. One thing that I noticed too, & I noticed it on your video is that when the sun was re-emerging, everything looked crisp almost like having an LED light on. The recliners look amazing & comfy. Enjoy!

The Total Eclipse of 2017 went right over our county in Western Nebraska and it was pretty cool. There were people around from all over the country (and beyond) with telescopes and cameras that had special lenses. At our local soccer complex, the USPS was selling commemorative stamps and also had a special Eclipse ink stamp to hand cancel envelopes for collectors! Other people had T-shirts and other useless stuff for sale. It was a pretty big deal for our small rural community.

There was a lot of "eclipse" memorabilia and events here as well. We just stayed home because we didn't want to deal with fully packed campgrounds haha

It Looks really good with the Recliners and i think the Fit is Spot on. And the Color fits Perfectly with everything else just curious about how the slide works now that you changed things with weight distribution and hardware placement. Hey, The grey recliner was off a Newmar Class A either the Essex or King Aire there seats are hard. It's odd you go to the lower cost like Holiday Rambler or Fleetwood and the seats are a lot more comfortable

Nice digital scanner. In Arizona and SoCal the PD have gone to APCO25 and encrypting almost all police radio traffic, so there's very little use for them around here anymore. I remember back in the day (like the 1970s) the Rossford PD used VHF-Low radios and had those ridiculous looking 12 foot whip antennas on the back of their patrol cars. Is Mike still active in Ham Radio? I haven't seen him using amateur radio in a while in your videos.

Yes we've looked into it but never found one we liked. Most didn't move though down to make it worth it, especially with recliners

Love the police scanner! Did the company you purchased it from program your local,frequencies for you? And does your area not scramble the frequencies on a trunk line or does your Bearcat pick them up,too?

All you need to do is enter your zip code into the scanner and it programs automatically. This scanner supports digital and trunking.

Guess we will see! 🤞🏻We read that that was only a few bad batches but not all of them. Our friends have Thomas Payne in their trailer and it's older than our Wraith and they haven't flaked at all. Even people with Nexus had bad batch of fabric but we were lucky and ours was always good. Fingers crossed!
