Is it strange to say that this is sad but great news at the same time? You have had a positive impact on a great deal of other creators and their careers but I'm glad to hear that you are taking time for yourself and that you are giving yourself an opportunity to explore your future directions creatively. You are very much appreciated Scott and I will gladly stand by and wait for your next venture, here or elsewhere.

Yes, it is sad. You need a break; do it! Please come back stronger, faster, and even with a bionic eye! I have really learned a lot, Sensei, and your next iteration will be fantastic. I have 1000 videos to watch and comment on. See you after that milestone. BE GOOD TO YOURSELF AND RETURN!

Thank you for all you have done, Scott! You have put in a lot of work! Sad to see you go, but I am glad you are planning to return with new branding at some point. Feels like the end of an era. That ending shot of hanging up your lab coat and turning off the lights is iconic, sad and beautiful.

I can't let myself feel too sad about this as all your content thus far isn't going to just turn into a pumpkin at midnight. And more than anything else I'm excited to see what's next for you, whenever that reveals itself. There is wisdom - and bravery - in realizing you've said everything you want to say and done everything you want to do in one arena, thus decide to move on to something new. All that said: as I've told you a few times, you were a great inspiration for me when I was starting this whole comic thing, a proof of concept that showed me it's accessible and attainable, and I was especially encouraged by how warm and inviting you made the whole scene seem. I'm not sure I would've even done a DvsM if not for you! So thank you. And that's enough sentimentality from me, because it's not a friggin eulogy. ;) Talk to you soon buddy.

Thank you so much Gary, it’s hard for me to think I had a part in bringing an amazing comic like DVSM to life. You really summed up the intention of this video. If only I was as concise.

Scott, this was a wonderful video. Very honest very true. I’m really looking forward to your next chapter and there is no pressure. Congratulations., buddy 👏👏👏

Mr. Scott it has been a pleasure listen to your advice and stories, your mini comics videos were so cool and I'll keep coming back to those for sure. I came back as an artist myself often for your passion for the indie side of making comics, your positivity, creativity and all the awesome know-how and practical stuff. All I want to say is I know very well life isn't only just ONE thing, there's just so much going on and if this project doesn't make sense to you at this time it's perfectly OK, I wish you nothing but the best and I look forward to your future endeavors. Also do not consider this project a failure, humans are not perfect and I came back looking for the human on the other side not a machine. All the best!!

Stumbled upon your videos a few months ago, specifically about the comic makers toolkit. While I haven't used most of the resources you put together, the thumbnail templates has been nothing short of a godsend. I'm now on the verge of finishing thumbnailing a hundred and fifty page graphic novel (one of fifteen😅) and likely wouldn't have had the patience to do so without that particular resource. Looking forward to trying out the others when the time comes. Thank you so much for putting them together and for all the content you've put out there. Best of luck retooling your content, looking forward to your eventual return. Thanks.

It's been a long time since I've commented. I've been here since you were at 10k subs! I always liked and respected that you remained the same. That you didn't dye your hair, start doing all of these stupid camera angles and just go away from what you love. Like many people here have said, you've inspired me to attempt 100 days of making comics, (though I've failed at it), you still got me to at least begin it. I then went on to draw since indie comics for people and that went well for a while, until no one wanted to pay me. Still, it never hurts to take a break, I do it all the time. You deserve a break and we'll be very happy when you return! I'm gonna miss your lair, I love the work you've put into it. Also the way you'd receive packages. Enjoy yourself and your break. My friend and I are going to try and create a comic together for the first time (me writing, him drawing) and one of your videos was the first thing I clicked on just today in my research. I definitely plan on sharing your tips and suggestions with him, but most of all I hope you are doing well and look forward to when you feel ready to come back. I have been watching you since the beginning when I started a Channel and was looking for similar content on the platform, and I feel you man, I love making videos, but I feel a bit stuck feeling like the work put into the channel is not reflected on the views, and I have been thinking about making some kind of change, but I don't want to fall into the "let's follow trends and make silly challenges" trap... I love comics and feel like my experience can help others but at times it seem like talking to the void. I wish you the best of luck and will be here to watch your evolution.

@@ScottSerkland For what it's worth, when I follow podcasts or KZfaq channels, the content and topics are almost less important to me than just spending time with the people and the personalities. I think if you look at a lot of the successful content creators out there, the fans just want to hang out and get to know, like having a beer with a friend. I don't feel like you need to drastically reinvent yourself or come up with all sorts of cool production values and editing techniques. I think your fans just like hearing what you have to say. Be well and we hope to see you again soon!

I started watching around 2017. I want to let you know that I respect you greatly. The work and effort you put into your comics, studio, videos, downloadable extras...etc... is impressive! I think it is a great thing that you are taking a break. Sometimes it's good to take a step back and re-evaluate things. I'm not one that should be giving advice on this topic (KZfaq) as I've done a poor job on my own channel, but I will say I have confidence in what you're gonna try to do and you should reach out to people outside of the community you normally hang with to stream, partner up, and get advice from. I remember a Mr. Beast video talking about he would constantly talk KZfaq with other creators and try things. I know KZfaq success isn't your main goal, but I think you got what it takes to go the distance. At least 100,000 subs. Regardless, enjoy your break bud, and thank you for everything. You're a good guy Scott!

Its been a year or so since I've watched some of your content. Kind of got out of the comic book thing for a bit as my creative mind had wandered elsewhere. But the time I was really interested in getting into comics I learned quiet a bit from your channel. I almost wanna say dont hang up the MAD lab coat yet and find something new to do with that character. But you gotta do you. If anything, just have the jacket hang in the background of your future videos as a nod to the good old times you had with that setup. Maybe keep the lab setup there also and just have it kind of in the background along with the jacket. Anyway, thanks dude. I'll remain subscribed. I've just recently got back into wanting to do illustration stuff so I'll be using your old content to learn from.

Thanks for everything Scott! It does bum me out that you are leaving, but I certainly get it. If you are not feeling what you are doing, then you gotta change things up and do what feels right. I wish I could tell you why some channels blow up/grow and some don't. Don't take it personally. It's certainly difficult to figure out the internet community. I appreciate that you refuse to go the gimmicky route. Some other art channels I used to follow, lost me as a subscriber because it got to where all of the content was like that. You can probably guess what some of those channels are. Watch me paint blindfolded, watch me paint using nothing but condiments, etc. Cheesy and not helpful at all.
