Old dude here with nearly half century and wide variety of 4x4 vehicle experience. Gotta agree with you. I've got a set on my daily and I'll probably be buying another set of duratracs to throw on my back up daily. Both are gen3 4runners. I've had alot of Good Year tires and side wall fails are pretty common with them. Not one sidewall issue with 2 sets of Duratracs. The only down side to this tire is they get a little noisey as they wear in but it's a tolerable trade off for rest of the package. This tire is really the Jack of all trades.

I have those tires on one of my trucks. The 05 Dakota, in a 265/65/R17 Seems to get pretty decent traction, they defiantly do make some noise however. On my other truck I've run everything you can imagine, the best traction I ever got in snow was when I put a tiny set of car tires on it lol the Firestone Winterforce tires(205/75R15). I had a set off an old Camaro laying around with low miles on them, so threw them on the truck rims seeing they both had 15" rims.. It looked hilarious with about 16" of wheel well clearance, but that thing literally drove through snow deeper than the hood... It was that deep and the thing just didn't stop, never got stuck! I was amazed, I could either go 80mph down the road, or drive through my yard up hills and through the atv trails with 4-5ft of snow. I haven't tried that with my 05 Dakota however, because the new trucks are made out of plastic lol, unlike the old solid steel one that just will not break.

2014 f350 crew 4x4 with extra horsepower and torque output, mostly on road with some gravel/dirt and a good 8-10 inch snow experience. These Duratrac tires did great in the 8-10 inches of snow even with the quad in the back of the truck. The heavy, wet, re-frozen snow we have in western Washington was no match. However, I can definitely see the accelerated rate of wear on the back tires after 10,000 miles. Even with rotations I am guessing I will see 30,000 to 40,000 miles out of themat most. With that said, I will still buy another set of them for the traction. Even with tire pressures above 60 psi they have done great over the rocks and loose debris.

@@alanmagnuson8244 And what about people that say the sidewalls on Duratracs are too thin. Some say they've hit bumps or potholes on the road which popped a sidewall?

@@dalephillips8250 not true driven over potholes in illinois a foot deep never a problem with sidewalls. Off road at 15-18 psi no problems with rocks. I don't drive on sharpe rocks or purposely rub the side of rocks.

so i have a E350 4x4 van that weighs close to 10k lbs. do you have recommendations for a heavier vehicle like this, or would you stick to these and just know you are going to get less mileage out of them?
@WanderingBeast3 жыл бұрын
I still love them, but for my dually E350, I had shopped the cooper st maxx. Ended being given some Toyo tires. I know many folks like like the Toyo AT. check out primal outdoors channel for his 4x4 e350

Just changed from the C- 265/70/16- to- E rating Duratrac's, 265/"75"/16,, They seem to ride much better.. So im reading the sidewalls and it say's it has - 6 ply tread And 2 ply, side walls = 8 ply,, and has a E rating,, with load of 3415 lbs, Are your's the same,, I guess they say they are making the the sidewall ply stronger or thicker ? Do you know anything about that...

That’s Load Range C to Load Range E, built a little differto handle additional weight from heavier vehicle and payload. 1/2 ton should be D, 3/4 Ton should be E.

Would you recommend this tire as a daily driver that's primarily on pavement?

life is a compromise , theyll be fine but wear quicker than , depends on what need the tire to do on the weekend

What does your Scout weigh? I'm looking at putting Duratracs on 17" steel wheels on my '15 Frontier crew cab longbed, which weighs with camper shell around 5100lb. I'm leaning towards either the 285/70/17 or the 315/70/17 as both are OEM sizes on popular vehicles so replacement tires might be easier to come by. If I go with the 285s I have a choice of Load Range D or E, still haven't decided which may be preferable. Truck is a daily driver.

Probably about the same as your frontier

Duratracs do not perform well in wet conditions. On slick road it performs really poor. As for snow it does fine and on dry condition it does fine. On mud not so good. Not noisy, lasts long time. That is all i can say after using it 5 plus years now. It did well for deep potholes, i never got flat tires with these. I hit deep potholes at 65-75mph and no issue.

Have you considered, wheel adapters for the A.V., so you can broaden your options on tires?

Its really the fact that I'll have dually tires until I convert it to 4wd. So for now I have a pretty skinny tall tire

Having them put on my Ram that I bought in May tomorrow. Figured I'd run the junk all seasons that came on it for the summer, did a good bit of research on tires the last couple months and the duratracs seem to be about the best fit for my needs

Duratrac lacks sidewall strength...if u r like me with a truck camper in the back u get almost a death wobble...so much side to side u think u have a loose wheel.. on my 4 runner they perform fabulous...under weight they r junk on the road...they need to i crease sidewall strength

I'm an ex Officer and I don't like the Police either. I guess I'll buy duratracs. Remember right is right and wrong is wrong. @sssparky76 You're very ignorant....I was an officer for years and left because I didn't like the corruption as I would much rather be a righteous man. As for you keep worshiping those who you admire...I'm not trying to change you at all.
@MegaScorpio433 жыл бұрын
@sssparky76 You don't even comprehend the scope of this. I'm not basing my opinion on just my experience on the inside of the organization and outside. I'm basing my opinion on the hundreds of thousands that have had their constitutional/human rights violated by this system because what is done to the least of us can be done to all of us. Also any officer knows that if they see their partner commit a crime and wrong someone that they had better stand with the department and the officer and not "Snitch" on the officer thus putting the whole department in scrutiny. There have been at least 5 examples in 2020 where you have that rare breed of honest and courageous officer get on video and tell the truth about their comrades. Those brave officers are now no longer officers because honesty like that will not be tolerated in these masonic forces.
@dalephillips82503 жыл бұрын
@sssparky76 Doesn't sound leftist at all to me. Sounds like he just want Truth and Honesty. Sounds like he'd just like them to be held to Constitutional standards.
