Google Pixel 4A (NOT 5G) replacing the battery with an iFixit kit (See description for full videos)

I replaced the battery on my Google Pixel 4A (not the 5G version) using an all-in-one kit from iFixit. Overall I was happy with the kit of tools and parts, although a few of the smaller pre-cut pieces of adhesive tape got stuck to the box and were not usable.

I think the most difficult thing to know is how genuine is genuine vs the difference in price for these "genuine" parts from the parts provider companies. Thanks for the videos.

I trust iFixit to tell me if the parts they sell are Genuine OEM or not.

@@summetj There are a few phone parts supplier companies that claim to sell oem or genuine parts, and some even tell you if they are aftermarket, but not all. For the Google Pixel 4a 5G battery I'll need, there is a wide price range from these companies, so if the claims are true, it's difficult to know which company is overcharging. Appreciate your response though.

I'm at 36 months, starting to notice that my battery life isn't what it used to be. Saved this video, I've ordered the ifixit kit and studied their procedure. I just really don't want to change phones.

This is why I miss the old style of cell phones. If the battery was bad you just popped it out. You didn't have to disassemble the entire thing. Looks like a hassle and I'd probably break it way worse than a battery.

Any problems with battery getting abnormal hot ? How is it working now? Were you happy with it?

This particular phone heats up fast if you are taking photos continuously, but that happened with the old battery as well, (it's the CPU heating things up as it post processes the photos, not the battery). I've been very happy with the life of the new battery.

hello Jay, I used this Ifixit kit to replace my battery on the Google Pixel 4A, but unfortunately the phone is not starting anymore, do you know if it is due to bad battery, bad connection of elements or if it is the screen which is dead. I tested it on my laptop, it is not reknown. The only thing whih is working is the fact that it is still vibrating when I charge it. (the phone was still working before the replacement of the old battery). thanks in advance if you see this message.

If the phone vibrates when you plug it in it's probably charging the battery correctly. I would check all of the connections especially the ones to the screen again.

@@summetj Hello Jay, thank you for your fast reply, good news this morning "the alarm ring", but still no visibility on the screen. I think it might be due to the screen (I used the warming pad from IfixIt to take it off, it might have been damaged when I warmed it up or when I used the plastic element to take off the glue). Do you know where I could buy a good screen for the pixel 4a ? (official version and with low price if you have any idea). thanks again for your answer :). Have a good day

@@bapisteful if I-fix it does not have one you're probably just going to have to look on eBay or Amazon, it is old enough you may not be able to find an OEM one. Unless you know you physically broke the screen, be sure to double check the connections on the ribbon cable as it is more likely it is just disconnected.
