Glad you got better battery life as I did. I get more than a day now and I use bluetooth and 5G #AndroidBeta is the way to go! I already had the screen set off for all of those things and was not getting a day. I got 36 hours first day.

I leave Bluetooth on. I leave my 5G on, the only thing I turn off when I'm out and about is... Wi-Fi. I'm not using it while I'm driving around town in and out of forever I'm going, so I might as well have it off so it doesn't continue to search, which causes battery drainage. I think it's important to mention a key factor when it comes to turning off 5G. In some cities/locations 5G will yield diminishing returns. If the speeds are too close to matter, why not? Obviously if you're getting 5G UWB by all means but sadly that's not the case in many areas.

Android 14 has supercharged my wifi and 5g speeds! I was disappointed with the speed of my wifi and AT&T 5g speeds. Side by side test with my iPhone 14 Pro Max and OnePlus 11 crushed the wifi speeds on the Pixel Fold on Android 13. I downloaded the 14 Beta and now I'm getting 5g+ on AT&T with speeds matching the iPhone and now the wifi speeds crush my IPhone.

The thing is that some carries has 5G, the phone shows 5G, but the speed is not 5G... If you do the speed test, and is not real 5G, on that case turning off that band mode makes sense.

I don't mind it has a screen edge, is fine to hold it and avoid accidental touches. It looks great.

Man I been saying this about the Pixel 7 Pro.. the last update before this new one broke my battery savings... But it came back with this latest one. People thought I was crazy for saying I was getting crazy battery. Seems like A14 is playing nicely with the Tensor G2

Turning off 5G for me as I have stated many times before, previously with my Pixel 6 and now 7 Pro gives me noticeably better battery life not just during use but while the phone is sitting idle. I make absolutely no other changes and everything else remains on but the Samsung modem used in Tensor powered phones, while it did get better with the G2 phones, it is still nowhere near as efficient as Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and there is nothing functionality crippling to the phone that turning off 5G does unlike turning off Bluetooth or WiFi for instance. Of course everyone's mileage is going to vary but for me on T-Mobile here in Los Angeles, the difference between having 5G on and only LTE is real and I get plenty fast speeds on LTE alone that I don't lose out on anything by switching off 5G. Calling suggestions "weird" or you don't understand why someone would turn a certain thing off, it's disrespectful when all it takes is thinking through the suggestion a bit more then you'll know why having that off or on is a battery drainer and why someone would wanna turn it off.

Its more of a point that you shouldn't have to alter any major functionality of the device to grt decent battery life, especially on an $1800 dollar device. Thats not acceptable.

@@redstang70 $1800 or $300, it's just as unacceptable in both cases but the fact that turning off 5G doesn't fully handicap the device, only slowing the speed down, means it's one of the least obstructive measures you can take to better battery life. In my case I turn it off not just because of battery drain but because the 5G connection quality and general stability is not as good as LTE only and that to me is way more crucial than the battery drain or the speed advantage over LTE.

I agree with you about turning off Bluetooth and WiFi. I always have them on. Maybe turn off WiFi when I know there is none available. Glad your battery is doing better.

J Dubb man I can’t turn off Now playing. That’s probably my favorite signature feature on the pixel. I thought it wasn’t supposed to use much battery because most of the song titles are stored on the device unlike a service like Shazam. I could definitely be wrong though.

On the Fold and Pixel 7 range, possibly other Pixels, is there an option to disable the 'Quick Settings' so that it is not accessible via the lock screen? Basically if the device falls into the wrong hands, they would be unable to turn off location, turn on flight mode and any of the other quick settings.

You can downgrade but make sure you back up your device, but to be honest android 14 will be out in a month or so either way.

Have you tried turning off the phone to save battery life?😂 Seriously some of those suggestions are kind of ridiculous in my opinion. Just remove the functionality from the phone altogether to save battery life.

I turn off 5G all the time I live in KS, 5G is almost non existent lol. Only in big cities like KC or Topeka have 5G and its completely and utterly useless.

It’s called banter not blaming you it’s just bad we have to switch features off on a latest handset to have decent battery life also i have a fold on order hopefully im making the right choice since 6 years with apple.
