I’ve been using GeForce now 3080 Tier. Honestly the latency is not noticeable via controller. Mouse and key slightly but not enough to cancel over. FPS games feels the same as being local. It honestly does feel the same as a console or having a computer right in front of me. I would suggest to try that tier if you have fiber internet. Don’t bother with other types.

Google sent me a free stadia premier edition as a promo tied to my KZfaq premium at the end of 2020. Prior to that i played casually on ps4 and retros. I was a successful marketing conversion in that I started using stadia as my primary platform and still do today. My refund will be about $600. It makes me really sad to see it shut down. TBH anyone in the community would have said it felt like we were about to grow, not close (upcoming games, regional expansions, new UI teases, etc). Things were feeling promising, which makes this all the more shitty

In my opinion, cloud streaming is not dead, just somewhat starting. The fact that u don't have to download and update,be worryless about space on your drive, is one of the reasons I sticked around. everything just flows. but what happen is that when a good concept and product ends on the hands of bad business like Google, it wont last.

Raises hand: Made Stadia my primary way of gaming. Glad for that refund. I have been playing on cloud for almost two years. I may migrate over to Amazon Luna. EDIT: As for the future of cloud gaming. I disagree that Google's failure with Stadia sets that part of the industry back or somehow 'proves' it's not going to grow in the future. I don't believe Microsoft or Amazon are looking at Google Stadia and saying "Welp, pack it in" for their own cloud gaming investments. It's a niche gaming market. Massive companies like Amazon, Microsoft, NVidia etc don't make large investments in things they don't see potential for future returns on. I do agree with the first half of your video though. Google as a company simply lacked the will to see Stadia through the early years to find some returns or profit later.

GeForce now is by far the best out of all of these options. Try it out on the 3080 tier. I promise the 20 bucks is worth it. Even if it shuts down (20 million subs at the moment) you can still play on a computer.

I know I will be the only one but Cloud Gaming is the future. I might be the lucky guy living in some small Eastern EU country however the internet here is quite good. I can pay 5 EUR and have 100 Mbps fiber or 15 EUR and have 1 Gbps fiber. The whole country is covered by 4G/LTE and big cities with 5G. Cloud Gaming is for me the thing. I no longer need to own a bazillion of plastic boxes. I can just open the browser (or app), connect a controller, and boom, I am gaming AAA titles from the Cloud. I have been using this way Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia, or Xbox Xcloud and the experience has always been decent. I understand that hardcore gamers need physical hardware for the lowest latency possible and the best graphics possible (aka 4K on their home OLED). I am not saying e-Sport will move to Cloud (probably never will). However, for casual gamers, Cloud is the best option as you do not have to own physical boxes. Maybe in the future Cloud will be possible for e-Sport too. And I am writing this comment as an owner of Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, Switch OLED, and LG CX55 4K OLED TV, who still loves the convenience of the Cloud.

another point to be made is that gaming is also a collectors activity and that will include ownership of said video games you buy and since a lot of these companies are hell bent on subscription and streaming locking away products behind online only paying for access, very anti-customer

Depends on subscription. Some give you the games which you assign to a platform - humble choice or Prime Gaming. Some give you access to games but it is an option - game pass, ea play, UBI+. You can use subscription or you can buy games up to you. The ownership become an issue when digital took over.

I tried number of streaming services (OnLive, GaiKai beta, ps now, GFN, xcloud). I have not tried Stadia even though there was a period with free trial or trial codes for grabs. I have to say I’m impressed google will do refunds. Back when OnLive was shutting down they stated according to out TOS we own you nothing, you loose access to games you purchased and the subscription service (they might have issues refunds for unused subscription period). I bought a few games and that was it, content gone. I was fully aware of the TOS and I bought games only on sales so I have not lost more than 15 bucks. But I have to say google approach is really good here. For me streaming is an addition but not main way of playing games. But it does not matter regardless what you use to play games the most important thing is to enjoy them! Have a nice time gaming!

I think cloud gaming will be main stream, someday. The internet will only get better with time, plus, less hardware means, less r&d, manufacturing plants, man power, overhead expenditures, etc..and higher net profits. Covid made it clear, everything will be online someday, and this needs the internet.

Having to buy the games for stadia is the main problem. GFN, however is a great service that I highly recommend. I definitely believe that streaming games is the future. The only drawback of Google leaving the table is that companies can charge whatever they want without that other competitor drawing the price down for consumers. I also believe that Nintendo is going to do mergers with Nvidia to make their own games streamable in a big way. Either a cloud based switch system will prevail or the Nintendo library will be accessible via phone/tablet/PC/Mac.🌊

@@TechSpaceCowboy I've played through most of Assassin's Creed Origins/Watch Dogs 2 on GFN and tried a lot of others using my phone, shield TV, Steam Deck: I'm totally sold on cloud gaming simply because it's so much cheaper streaming steam/epic than buying a full on console or building a PC. The latency issues haven't been apparent to me; I was even able to do some great progress on Cuphead. But I will admit that I do see some melting when the connection gets bad. At its worst, it crashes sometimes which is the nature of wireless. I'm blown away at how good streaming these great games to my tablet with a PS4 controller is when I get downtime at work. Having to buy the games through stadia is so off base. I would probably never try it using that business model.

Considering big tech companies are more in line with adult daycares rather than having the brightest and best technicians and programmers, it's no surprise that Google starts and quickly kills projects left and right. Nobody there is capable and willing to upkeep and maintain it. Granted, Stadia was already redundantly obsolete at it's conception, but even great things wither and die on the vine with Google. Make something, support it, keep it running or don't do it all.

As a long time gamer since the 80s, I was interested in Stadia, but I never understood why I should buy it. They wanted me to buy a subscription and buy each game that's on it. Then I couldn't find a game that I wanted that was only available on Stadia. So I never signed up. If they had given it more time, maybe the developers that were working on games for it would have delivered, but even they found out the same day as the rest of us that Stadia was dead. RIP Stadia.

Their messaging was confusing. It was never going to take off for it to be financially viable with the timescales that Phil Harrison set out internally or for himself. I played some games on stadia at a friend's house and it was great in terms of performance. He had a 60 Mbps connection and 20 upload. My understanding is that you didn't have to get the subscription. You could just buy any game that was available on the store and play at 1080p resolution. If you wanted to play in 4K or get some games included with that sub you had to pay 9 $/mo. Though luck if your favorite title is not available on that service. The issue is that most people who want to game already have a gaming rig or a console. Also you have to consider that if a game has no cross play then if the streaming service shuts down the games go down with it. Some areas may not have a great internet connection either. Too many variables for it to grow at the rate management expected. Looking back perhaps if some things were handled differently at launch and with a bit more patience in the course of running Stadia perhaps it could have been a good option for casual gamers, people with special needs etc. Alas, it is what it is. It will be gone in about 100 days. Hopefully the technology lives on in other products.

I had Google stadia and it was my only console for gaming. I loved it and had no problems with latency or anything cuz I had a really fast internet and I kept my modem in the room that I was playing in for the most part. After Google decided to shut down stadia I said you know what, I'm done with cloud gaming and I'm going to get the Xbox series x. Having Game pass and the cloud gaming option for my computer is nice but I don't want this to happen again where a company can just come in and basically take all of my games and progress and then say oops sorry about that here's some change back.

The recesion came and killed Stadia and many Google new projects not making money. Stadia is gone but still Google can sell the idea to game publishers like Ubisoft+. I think Google called "Immersive Stream for Games" They can pay Google for the Stadia Tech/Service to put their own name and have their own cloud gaming service (running on Google Servers) with a subcription using their account. They can sell their subcription and keep more money, because they won't need to pay comission to external stores. Google get paid for Stadia.

I made Stadia my main gaming service. Loved it. 90% of gaming sessions i had 0 lag. Mostly when i got too an Airport or a hotel with slow free internet did it act up. Unfortunately i have to disagree! Cloud Gaming is 100% the future of gaming with the exception of PC. I give consoles one more full generation before everything goes to cloud. Here is the proof!! Xbox tried eliminating physical discs with the XBox "2?" generations ago. And the community was Angry because they couldn't give their friends the disc to try the game or play at a friend's house. So Xbox walked it back. Then... Later that generation they go... Hey!!! Rather than stand in line at GameStop just download this game and play right away at midnight. And now EVERYONE just does that nobody buys physical discs. In the next 5 years most people in North America will have 5G in their pockets which is fast enough to play cloud. Xbox currently has cloud and PlayStation is doing..... Something with it. And Nintendo Switch uses cloud Gaming for more intense games that it can't run natively. PC its very common to play games streaming from a different spot in your house. It's not the future it's already here, just who's going to win the long run. (It wasn't Google) Side note Logitech just came out with a cloud gaining device also Razer! And this week cloud Gaming Chromebooks!

it's been awhile since I've watched one of your vids. sorry I haven't been on KZfaq like that lately. lately I've been dealing with that pandemic sickness annoyingly enough.......... props on the haircut. bigger props on mic you still have kept that retro style but modernized. I like it. on to Stadia: you've basically said everything of why I think it failed one of the bigger reasons being it's Google so yeah....... but to the Stadia users which there were many on the bird app in self denial many have said it to them that its not running that strong, definitely getting defensive on the Stadia jokes, comments saying well ppl are saying this about it and they haven't even tried it. there's a reason why and that's why: hardware. ppl typically like to game on the actual hardware having the stream stuff as a side cause for the reasons you've already outlined streaming doesn't compare to playing on the original equipment. I'm sorry they thought it was really going strong which many of them have claimed. I avoided making any jokes directly to them about Stadia but did ask more than once do they see it staying alive. many answers yes. here we are today. the guy in charge behind it has recently joined with Sony blaming an acquisition of Microsoft's (that hasnt even finalized yet) so reports are. your thoughts?

The average big tech company doesn't seem to understand the level of commitment it takes to make a successful gaming platform. You're either all in or you're nothing. You're either willing to spend billions of dollars to acquire Zenimax or you're not. Even Facebook, who is betting the farm on whatever they think the metaverse is, is letting Quest die on the vine with a sad trickle of overpriced games and doesn't seem to be concerned that Superhot and Beat Saber are their top games month after month, year after year. Amazon has flirted with gaming in fits and starts but has no coherent strategy and clearly considers gaming a side project at best. Even Apple, who accidentally became caretakers of the world's largest gaming platform, seems to have no idea what to do with it. The current market reminds me of the flood of CD-Rom systems in the early 90s. Philips, 3DO, Commodore, and even Apple thought they could just put some reasonably powerful hardware out on the market and then step away and collect royalties.

Wait wait so they try to make this a thing. Mobile games in a cloud version. I had to look this up. The only cloud game I play is guardians of the Galaxy and it actually plays very well in the Nintendo switch, probably because it doesn't play natively but it plays very good. But I also play with the OLED version and the dock does have a ethernet port and it does play better in dock mode. I do have a friend that has a lot of issues with the kingdom hearts games. Those are cloud versions on the switch but we have noticed that a lot of the PlayStation games on switch which are all cloud based games are horrible and they are full priced games and they're over 20 years old 😒😒😒 I recommendation is get an Xbox series. The reason why stadia died is because they don’t understand video games fans or development. The had a couple of studios when stadia first launch and they thought it took 2 years for games to come out. First mistake The next is the head of stadia is not a gamer or don’t understand it from what I’m told. Cloud gaming shouldn’t be the main focus. Look at game pass, streaming is there but you can play games locally on your Xbox.

Stadia was my favorite way to play. I loved being able to buy a game and then just play. No long downloads and the freedom to access my 200 game library anywhere I had a high speed connection. It is a great service that never really caught on in no small part because of Google's bad reputation. After closing Stadia it's going to be a really hard sell to get me to go all in on any other product Google launches. In the end Google is not a tech company. It's an advertising company. They don't really care about any product they launch because in the end it's only a small part of their review stream and will never compare to what they are actually selling... Their customers. Now I'm moving over to GeForce now 3080 tier. The graphics are great but it's overall responsiveness is not as good as Stadia. I'm also trying out the Steam Deck. It's far more versatile than my Switch. But I digress. My point is Google SUCKS and I'll never trust them again after this BS!

"Digital Amish" saw Stadia demise as a fact of that Game Streaming is not the future. Most of that is fear, that makes sense giving the fact that the 2 big platforms failed (OnLive and Stadia). I cannot necessarily agree on that. The MAJOR problem with Stadia was: Google. Their incompetence in marketing, knowing nothing about gaming etc etc etc. The lack of catalog was mindblowing. The second big problem was USA (not European) connections and data caps. If you first BIG market have this problem. If Google have used the posibilities of the cloud to make games that will be possible IMPOSSIBLE to do in console and PC, it will be a very compelling platform. Those 2 problems can be easily fixed in the near future. Let's see.
