Here is a video showcasing how this esc and motor combo causes my Maverick Quantum to "cog." The intended viewer for this video is the Amazon seller RC Mall. The RC car does not perform correctly when the motor and ESC is installed. When the car is accelerated, there is extreme hesitation from the motor, thus causing a grinding sound (also known as cogging). I believe that the ESC and motor are not correctly sending information to each other.

Program your ESC at higher start value as stated, I have the same motor with 120A esc kit, it comes with a programming card specifically for that ESC, values are probably set naturally low. But also answered change your gearing. Upgrades aren't just as simple as plug and play in the RC world :p

You sound new to RC-ing but every time I buy these ESCs I need to program them to start faster because they put it on 3 and you really need 8/9 Start speed That is why you need a program card. It's a MUST you get one I had this problem until I bought a couple of PROGRAM CARDS to SET the ESC to my liking

I have this setup in 2 cars and i have reprogrammed both and still bith cars wont drive on grass and they are still cogging really bad ive bith of mine was set to 4 and ive set them to 9 but not made any difference

@@spyda1337 The ESC is no good you will need to buy new ESCs. When this happens it's because the ESC is just too cheap I had this problem with another RC and it was because I was trying to save money by buying a cheap ESC but as soon as I bought a new better ESC it all went away

With these cheaper esc's and motors I like to reheat the solder joints on the bullet connectors, believe it or not solder joints go bad and can cause a faulty connection, if this esc and motor combo came with a program card then bump up the start speed and put the punch to medium or high, if it didn't come with the program card then buy one, it helps out a lot.

KV is NOT kilovolts on a brushless motor! As for the "cogging" issue, it is a common problem with a sensorless motor. One possible solution may be to obtain the programming card for the ESC and set the motor start mode to a higher value.

It is called kilovolt.

@@rcnutball4087 He’s correct, kV is kilovolt and means “One thousand volts”. However brushless kv is a different term, it’s how fast the motor will turn per given volt.

I thought you could only use 2660 motors in the Maverick, Im confused now lol, knew to all this and looking to upgrade my Xt brushed version.

Try a smaller pinion, larger spur.

Your lipo status might be in 6S Program your ESC to go to 2S or 3S liPo Check your factory settings

It happens because that the esc is bad get a hobby wing esc and it will work fine

There's no Coggin because it's a brushed motor not brushless

If you really want to try something biggest spur or smaller pinion

I'm an expert. You must gear down 1 or 2 tooth on the pinion Go up on the spur to get the same speed Or you can get a lower kv motor. Your kv could simply be 300kv over it's natural tolerance. The other comments that are suggesting this fix are correct.

Your obviously a newbie, it has nothing to do with the motor, its what size pinion & spur gear your running, if they are something like 32t pinion and 60t spur, this is what will happen everytime!!!
