The foundations for Western society are rooted in the Middle East, southern Europe, and Northern Africa. Not a single culture on this planet can lay complete claim to the state of the dominant society. There is so much cross-pollination when it comes to ideas and inventions and cultural norms that it's silly to draw arbitrary lines between us

Also it's still subjective which you prefer. Furthermore if you value realism it would be impossible to make them more attractive than real life, he says it like it was a deliberate choice and not an incidental consequence of creating virtual characters or even more so a matter of subjective taste.

A long tome ago I use to watch The Drinker's videos and I can confidently report that he and the losers in his circle are such whiny snowflakes. They are perfect examples of the saying that, to the privileged, equality feels like oppression. Instead of having the strength to be willing to grow as people, they crumble into crying heaps if the entire world isn't their own personal safe space.

This is such a limiting way to look at characters. To start, I’m willing to admit that most women probably aren’t aspiring to LOOK like Abby, but does that mean she can’t be relatable? One of my favorite moments from TLOU2 is Abby getting over her fear of heights. The build up to Lev and her crossing the tower is perfect. We can see through her voice, the look on her face and her body language that she’s getting more nervous as they get higher. Seeing her overcome that was super inspiring.

A thing I notice is, the GamerGaters do seem fine with a man having feminine traits, but ONLY if basically every other character, especially the women, are even less suitable for the role they would typically associate with men. The thing they can’t handle is “being replaced”. Women MUST be in the submissive role because they can’t handle the idea that men can rely on women for stuff.

In some fairness I would think it cool to have a bimbo bodied like game character, but to match that sort of heightened character I would want her to be as tough and confident as Kratos. The sort of thing that is not usual for Eastern sensiblities of attractivness. An exception being the the Japanese made Bayonetta, where it is impossible to remove her assertiveness. I just wouldn't want them to be passive.

What is so crazy to me about gamers whining about beauty standards is that I'm a JJK fan and Maki has to be one of the most lusted after characters in Shounen Jump at the moment and has been for a while. Actually... now that I think about it.... Rhea Ripley is poised to be one of the biggest women in wrestling history and she is another example of a woman these people would complain about because of her size and facial structure.... and wrestling is one of the most conservative driven entertainment industries we have. Like, in order to find a woman attractive, it must be OBVIOUS that she's not a man or else Critical Drinker might accidentally have a gay thought or people might think he's gay. I always find it hilarious racist people will go on and on about nordic and "anglo-saxon " heritage, but freak out the second they see a woman with nordic features like alloy or fable rebbot having ugly british people .... like the uk , and news flash most of the charachters in fable are ugly , obv theres plenty of exceptions like theresa the seer and the love intrest in fable 3 . Fable is a series that allows customization and making ur charachters more messed up or pretty and more or less weight etc , i assume you will be able to do even more than before in the new game , and your charachter will probably be wearing a helmet or mask alot anyways

The game combat mechanics of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth are peak. Complex, varied, deep, and addictive. Pluse it sensibly limits your ability to grind and over bulk until after your first playthrough to insure that it remains challenging enough to give everyone the full experience.

People shit on Joel for the ending of Last of Us, but a key detail that people miss, is that the Fireflies weren’t even sure it would work. If you read the files, they had serious doubts sacrificing Ellie would lead to anything, they were just so Fanatical about ending the plague and desperate in the face of the best shot at a breakthrough that they were willing to do it. Frankly, it’s implied they were rushing ahead, possibly because they didn’t want to think about the fact that they are killing a kid to save the world. There’s a fair chance they’d have fucked up, and blown their One chance at a cure, like literally none of them were proposing a way to do this and spare Ellie or double checking that they’d get this right. Now granted Joel wouldn’t have cared about any of this, he never cared about a cure in the first place. It’s meant to be a comment on his character development and the tragedy of the games, arguably Joel dooms humanity because he’s obsessed with his Father/Daughter relationship with Ellie after literally only ever caring about himself, and then he dies in the next game as a result of learning to properly care about other people.

That's why I hate "The Last of Us 2" so much, they completely destroy that interpretation of the first game. My take was that Ellie needed to be alive because she isn't supposed to just be hope for humanity because she can be used to make a cure she is supposed to be hope for humanity to be able to hold on to what is truly important like art and curiosity co-operation and trust and all that kind of stuff but TLoU2 takes a complete bat to anything even slightly resembling that interpretation and says that humans are the most hateful and selfish beings in existence who are just one crisis away from dedicating their entire lives to the most awful things and will only care about others in the context of "family". Not to mention there is a bunch of continuity errors and inconsistencies but overall my biggest gripe with both games is that somehow the plague that makes literal monsters isn't the biggest threat somehow people are acting worse than that and yet somehow these people are surviving not despite their self destructive and harmful behaviour but because of it? I couldn't think of a more awful and dangerous thing to have a story say.

I don't understand? He defines what he thinks as "feminine features" as "round face full lips big eyes small nose" and then his first example of a so called ugly character literally has all those features even more so than his "attractive" example. Like if going to try and "objectify" beauty in such a way you could at least use examples that have your so called "objective features".

I would feel insulted as a consumer and it would take away my immersion, if a game that played in a realistic world and that had a serious story only starred Barbie dolls with revealing outfits and ten layers of make-up. I think when i look at the games i've played largely i care more for fun gameplay like Borderlands 2 and Yakuza 0, Nier Automata and Path of Exile (playing it with friends) beauty of characters is a nice bonus i notice if it's there not something that's required.

I never really cared for critical drinker. The way he talks just comes off wrong to me. Maybe it reminds me of my own problems with drink, but this video just wrings of 2 points. 1) games are only fun if I can "bust" on a finisher, and the more a woman looks "realistic" the less "fun" he has with it. Realistic as in, an ACTUAL girl next door not the version they had in Hustler back in the day. If they can't feel like the protagonist in a harem anime, the game is trash. If they aren't hard from sight alone of the female form in game, the game is trash. If any female isn't a mute sex doll, the game is trash. Now, the games coming from studio's have problems, won't argue against that. But even at my goonest, GaMe CrAp BeCaUsE pEePeE nOt HaRd, was never a thing that even remotely effected my enjoyment of a game. Hell, I wonder the game cred of some of these guys as having grown up gamers if hot F'able women is what makes them play games. My earliest gaming memory was shooting at a hunting dog because I missed a duck, I'm guessing theirs is performing Lara Croft's ledge jumping animation for hours on end never getting past level 1.

I just want to say that MH World/Iceborn had the option to give ANY character you made have facial hair. Im a transfemme with a goatee on my chin and being able to play a hotter version of my self was mind blowing to me. To this day its still one of my favorite games of all time. Thats all i wanted to say 😉
