🌺 Gorgeous LACING ✨ No Silicone - No Floetrol! ~ Acrylic Pouring | Fluid Art

Very happy with how this painting came out! As many of you know, I've been doing a series of experiments to create beautiful defined lacing without using Australian floetrol. So far I like the effects of using Golden Gloss Medium the best. Here are all my previous experimentation videos:

My goal is to continue to learn how to make beautiful cells and lacing using simple techniques and very few products. When I was new to acrylic pouring, I was overwhelmed by the products and complicated recipes people were using. I would love to be able to help others by showing that it is possible to make beautiful acrylic pour paintings while keeping it simple.

RECIPE:
- I only use the pouring medium in the metallics.
- Titanium White, Carmine Red, and Burnt Umber are all Amsterdam standard brand paint. I mix these with only water. Paint to water- 60:40
- The metallics are Gold and Copper Pebeo brand paint. I mix these with the pouring medium (Golden Gloss Medium). Paint to Pouring Medium: 1:3 then add water to thin. (I added extra pouring medium this time just to see what happens. Usually my ratio is 1:2)
- I leave my metallics a slightly thicker consistency than the other colors. Adding too much water will cause the cells and lacing to lose their shape.

A beautiful piece of art. I think also that you produced a very nice and soothing video, because although I watch art videos to see what other creators are doing, I'm not so much a fan of the stream of consciousness style commentary that accompanies so many of them. All I want is the process, the visual journey, the results and some lovely music.

How did I miss this video? Have you ever seen art that literally took your breath away! I truly gasped or took in a deep breath once all of the colors spread . . . I’m mesmerized! Ok! Stupid question time! No, I still have not started as I have no place to work/hide from my cats! 😂 I have Floetrol, Arteza Combo packs, I believe some Silicone, some glue . . . How are you getting cells without Floetrol or Silicone? Remember, before you squirt me with a web paint sprayer (haha) I’ve only been watching tutorials and everyone gets cells so I’m wondering, sorry for this HOW DO YOU CREATE WITHOUT GETTING CELLS? I would like to try both! Sometimes cells, IMHO can overpower the piece. So . . . . ? Help? ❤

Lauren, I want to do a Dutch pour on an 8x8 piece of very well-sanded artist board. Does the wood need any special preparation to begin the pour?

Hi Sheri, if the board came already primed then you should be fine. But you said it’s well-sanded so maybe not? I’m that case you’ll need to seal it first with something like a gloss medium (1 coat on all sides, wait for it to dry and repeat), then after sealer is dry you should prime it with gesso 😊

Gorgeous! I love the lacing. Is there a way to thin the paint without using water and still get those beautiful cells? I'm trying to get away from adding water to my acrylic paint.

Thank you! I guess maybe if you found a really thin pouring medium. I hate to say it since my video is all about not using it, but Australian floetrol might work 😂 It would be amazing to not add water though and I’m sure everything would have a longer shelf life for reusing paint. Hi, I’ve never tried it with glue but have heard of lots of others using it to make cells. I remember seeing Left Brained Artist make a video on it. Maybe search “pva glue left brained artist” and I bet some videos come up 😊

Hi there, Laureen! I subscribed and liked your video as you work so clean and efficient, it's so pleasant to watch and follow your work, although in the UE there is no Golden Gloss Medium, I'll use whatever I would find (Owatrol, Liquitex, Pebeo) and, maybe, you'll try a more afordable and findable p.m.?! I think certain brands will eat the colors. I’m using Amsterdam acrylic paint for the base and it doesn’t eat them ☺️

It's nice but for me, I just don't care for the touch up after dried it's just obvious maybe not to the untrained eye.. Thought it was beautiful before..
