Hello, beauties! So much to catch up on and where have I been? After a special family celebration, James and I ended up off-grid in a vardo style shepherd's hut tiny house! This little cabin turned into the perfect tiny home for us to wind down after so much excitement. It gave us the chance to slow down the pace, self-care to the max and have some quiet living time in a beautiful and remote place. Just for us! It was the most idyllic spot for a Plein Air painting session too so we had an art date while we were here. In this video, I share all my news, my painting process and give you a tour of this gorgeous wooden tiny cottage. Biggest loves & softest hugs, Wendy. Xxxxxxx

I really needed this, especially today. Please continue. This is how our lives should be, even when we feel like someone else is in control. I can't thank you enough. Warm hugs to you both! 🤗

Have to say Wendy that I really enjoyed seeing you relax for once. You and James really are the most loving couple and James is such a gentleman, helping you down the stairs, getting the umbrella for you. Most people would be so disappointed in the gypsy vans (not me) no spa, no fancy restaurant whaaat no electricity!! But you delight in every little thing you saw/found. They were cute vans for sure. I loved that you both relaxed and did some art. I was sketching you while you were painting the vans. That was the prettiest painting I havee seen you do. Loved James art book too. Any chance one of you could do a little lesson on perspective? Cant afford to be a patreon sorry, but would love your insite. Also could you possibly please pan the phone around outside a little slower..I was starting to get sea sick🤭🤭🤭 No:1 video✔✅👍⚘⚘

Isn't it wonderful when you find the person who just fits with you so perfectly? My husband and I just returned from a week away and even after being together twenty-nine years we can still spend ten hours in the car together just chatting. We've been married for twenty-six years and it doesn't feel like it! I loved watching you paint and of course dancing by the tree! Congrats to your daughter on her marriage!

Hi cuties! So happy for you both to take some time off and "chill". Yes, it is something I believe we all forget to do, and when we do it seems so "foreign" to us. Let's celebrate Refresh, Renew and Relaxation to everyone out there in Wendy's beautiful world. And thanks for sharing your beautiful story of James and you. I worked with mine for 8 1/2 years before he asked me out. That was April and we were wed on New Year's Eve, that was nearly 23 years ago. Hugs to you both and great job on your portable art projects.

Joanne, I’m not sure what things are like on your side of the pond, but here in the US, there are what some call communes, others call them intentional communities. They vary in philosophy, lifestyle, living arrangements, etcetera. I know of some here that are off grid. If you can dream it, you can eventually do it, in a shared setting as I’ve just described, or even on your own, with just you and your son. I know of a woman in Wales, I believe, who lives in a little hut she’s built, by a little stream, where she tends the land around her and has survived for many years. I’ve never lived quite so rural, nor do I wish to at this stage of my life, but I know people who have. While there are a great many challenges despite the conveniences to living in the “madness in the world”, an off-grid experience brings its own unique things to be concerned about. However and wherever you live, always follow your heart. If you really wish to shift away from how things now are, yet find yourself somehow unable to do so (an example here is that I love to hike, however my hips and legs no longer permit it), perhaps there are little things you can do to bring what you desire more into your daily focus. If off-grid is your dream, perhaps you can begin today to take yourself there, by replacing your electric appliances such as a food mill with hand-powered tools. Adding wardrobe items that are meant to be worn for years, rather than seasons (or even a single event), is another way to begin adapting your current lifestyle into how you truly wish to live. As you move forward in your process, remember to take notes & photos, at the least. You may find that filming or doing other art forms along the way will not only serve you as a record of where you’ve been, but that creative journey may itself inspire new ideas that can be useful as you manifest your dreams in this reality. What you end up with may indeed be quite different from what you expect. Imagine what a great adventure you’re in for! If you should ever suffer from memory loss, as I do, you might also find that these visual references you create as your life changes, will enable you to remember more about the steps that got you from there (however far back you wish to look, or however deeply you wish to dig), to here now, and onwards to where you’re heading. My husband and I had a similar dream - we have three sons - and while we might not have chosen an completely off-grid lifestyle, we did once have a 40-acre parcel, near North Pole, Alaska, that was 1/4 mile from the end of the road (and therefore, the end of the electricity), so we were working our way that direction, like it or not. That land was virgin territory when we purchased it. We never did get to live out there - two of our sons developed disabilities in their adolescence and to better take care of them, and get better medical care for them, we sold that dream and bought a new one in Nevada (‘normal’ home in a ‘normal’ neighborhood). Despite never having lived out our initial dream as we had planned, the work that my husband and sons did on that acreage helped to boost the value. The sale of that property helped us help our sons, and ourselves, to live where we now do. The moral of my story is this: Pursue your passions. When things go sideways along the way - and they always seem to find a way to do so - be prepared to pivot. Look at whatever situation you’re in, and as the singer, Fia, sings: “Ask the magic question: How can it get any better than this?” Don’t forget to listen for the answers. Your inner voice knows what your next steps should be, even when you think you haven’t a clue. Something in your comment triggered a mountain of memories for me, as I find myself nearly writing a book simply to encourage you on your way. I feel incredibly grateful that I listened to my own inner voice, years ago, which told me to start photographing what my family was up to. I did. I’ve got so many photos of our process. Nowadays, my legs no longer carry my far, but my photos and stories can help me take steps without walking, I believe. Perhaps the time has come for my own next pivot. Maybe there are a few people on the planet who could use a few extra encouraging words, and can see more possibilities by seeing how life is through my eyes. Thank you for inspiring my morning flow today, Joanne. I know that your comment was written 8 months ago, but so what? The tech tools we now have transcend time, space, and place, don’t they? I wish you all the best!

Oh, Wendy, I think this is your GREATEST video YET!!!! I just love the scenery and the detailed look at your special little cabin... It was delightful to watch you and James on your plein air painting date... and when I was just thinking (again, as I often do) about how I want to ask you sometime about how you and James met, you go right ahead and TELL us ALL about it in this video clip!! Hurray!! He has so much artistic talent, as do you... and yet it is cool how each of you has your own strengths. Wouldn't it be cool for the two of you to create an artistic masterpiece TOGETHER sometime??? Congratulations to your daughter on her marriage!! Can't wait to hear more about that in a future clip! Hugs and much love from Western Maryland, Maureen (Brush Dabbler)

Wonderful video, Wendy & James! It's lovely to watch you let your hair down together, barefoot walking, living offgrid, celebrating your good fortune at being best friends, soulmates, colleagues and together with time off, a secluded country cabin, hugs, an al fresco meal and a plein air art date. You're truly an inspiration, as individuals and a couple. Thank you so much for sharing your love, your life, your art and the gorgeous views. I saw the art haul unboxing studio video, so it was lovely seeing the products in active use, watching them perform as intended for you. My media is colored pencil at the moment, but I do have watercolor pencils and one or two water brushes. Just need to order the watercolor or multimedia pads and journals. Much love from Louisiana.

I wonder if anyone besides me thinks one of the best things about these videos are the “Wendy Waffle” bits? Does anyone else pause the video to read through some (all) of the comments? What about rewinding multiple times, to catch the bits and bobs we’ve missed the first (fourth) time around, because we get caught up in the beauty of the tree, the painting, the architecture, the stomps… that we miss the words… or vice versa… and want to take it all in? WOW, Wendy! I so enjoyed this video in particular. Please tell me where you found your flowing pink dress - its lovely! I’m new to your channel, and initially had decided to go back to the beginning and binge-watch from the oldest to the newest, which I did start to do, but sometimes, I just pick a random video, just as I do my cards. Sure enough, I find something I needed to see or hear in that moment. Thank you for letting your voice come through - you could talk for hours and hours and I’d just curl up and knit or draw something and listen to you waffle on about whatever happens to be on your mind. I’m really looking forward to your upcoming hour long or so waffling! ✌️🎨🖌❤️

I love how the universe works it's magic and intertwines who needs to be together ♥ and now sharing yourselves to so many; I am grateful, thank you.

I loved that you didn't film the wedding but chose to really enjoy it. A lot of special events now are all about recording it and not experiencing it.
