Shame about the headstock as the instument sounds amazing.

Man, that's a busy headstock for a Soprano. I think it's slightly less jarring with the bigger surface area of a pineapple body but I knew you would gripe about that logo. Quite right too, it's like an old violin with an Apple logo.

Mostly really nice and affordable. I'll buy it and put a bag over its head. Enjoy your time off with the family.

These things are hard to find in the US and aren't available on their website here in the US at least. I'd like to try the concert pineapple in blue if I could get my hands on one.

Gosh - this is hitting a lot of my list for my next uke - solid, soprano, pineapple, not bone nut/saddle, I really like the looks and it sounds good with nice sustain! I think I'd overlook the slot-head (I don't mind its looks) and accept using a strap. I may have to save up. Thank you for another really helpful review. Enjoy your hols!

With you on the headstock, it just doesn’t look right. Wood really does pop on this one. The sound was really, really good for a soprano, I have heard concerts that had less sustain. Great review and you and your family have a great holiday. Thanks

It's a beautiful instrument and I love slot headstocks. However, I do dislike tie bar bridges. It does have a nice sound and the price is good. Thanks for a great review and enjoy your time off!

I love it! Mind you, it would need to be a horrible soprano for me NOT to like it. The slotted headstock wouldn't be my favourite either but not a game changer. Mostly, I love the sound, which will always be my priority. To my less than professional ear, it sounds very mature for a soprano scale instrument - in a good way. Maybe it's the pineapple body, which I also love btw. It looks amazing too! Thanks as always for the review Baz, stay healthy! 👍

I bought this Uke this morning- my first Uke. I had set out to get a cheaper one, but once I tried it I had to have it. I love the headstock and strangely enough mine doesn’t seem to have neck dive.

I agree about the headstock, not the right look. But, wow, everything else about it was very impressive. The tone was quite good -- good for strumming and picking -- with the warmth you expect from a pineapple. The strumming was clear and distinct, not like some you've recently described as "not a strummer's instruments," that were almost distorted. The price suggests very good value. I have pineapples -- one lam soprano, a solid soprano, and a (yet) unplayed solid tenor -- and I like those I've played very much. Good review; this uke will definitely speak to someone. Have a good break with the family!

i like it but i agree the martin style headstock with friction tuners would have made this a vintage looking uke.but its almost a deal breaker for me a pity i dont have a pineapple .i like the sound very much also sweet tone .thanks barry keep up the good work keeping the ukulele alive and well .best wishes

Handsome uke. I’m not fond of tiebars on sopranos either. Aside from that, my only niggle is that, on concerts and smaller, I usually use a soundhole hook, and those can slip neckward on an instrument that lacks bouts. And I like that headstock (except for the weight)!

I much prefer the larger sizes, and have various concerts and tenors, however this is one of the first sopranos I have seen and heard which really appeals. Could be my first soprano purchase? I love the appearance, and its sounds richer than most sopranos. I like slotted headstocks, so can accept this issue from the aesthetic point of view, but am concerned a little by the balance. I couldn't help but notice the striking similarities in this model's choice of parts I own a ENYA MAD series tenor uke 1. It has the same headstock very identical to mine black veneer slotted headstock ultra thick and chunky ,but its a tenor so seems okish. 2. Solid wood construction Mahogany with stain on it . 3. The finish on mine is also glossy but satin finished neck. 4. And the tuners are where my head boggles as they are very identical to mine just he color scheme is a lil different gold and black instead of chrome and gold. Reason for mentioning this I feel that having China based manufacturers we are ending up not much difference in brands , Enya uses same sort of stuff and the parts used generally outsource their stuff to sometimes maybe to the same plant. it would have not been the case BUT the headstock confirms that as it looks exactly same apart from stain and colour differences that some parts may be mass produced and end up on a lot of the different instruments from different companies. My ukulele has a blue stain and apart from the shape and brand name there isn't much of a difference here. I don't think of it as good or as bad but seems interesting enough to me that there the materials used by this ukulele to mine might just be coming from the same place.

Great review, thankyou! I love the sustain, gloss dark colour and pineapple shape. Im also attracted to the Ohana PKC-25G Concert Pineapple Ukulele. Only a few quid more via southern ukelele store and no slotted headstock, slightly lighter coloured. Have you tried it? And which would you recommend more? I'm a absolute beginner looking for my first uke with solid wood preferably a mahogany vintage effect with gloss ideally around 200 quid max. But I also like the traditional Hawaiian pineapple styles. If you could advise that would be great. Many thanks, Sita

"Engineered wood" typically means scrap wood reconstituted into something new, likely harder than the original. Just fine for a bridge, I would imagine. Have a happy vacation!

yeah, well almost … the slot-stock … kinda ruins the whole thang. Utter shame!

It has a very nice tone. And I don’t care for sopranos. It’s pretty, but agreed, it didn’t need a slotted headstock or a tie bar bridge. I hope Uma changes that ugly logo soon. Have a nice time, Baz.
