Here's the trilogy I've been working for since last winter. It took me more than a year to finish it but I really like the result and I hope you will appreciate it as well. This is my biggest project by far where I put almost all the parallels between Cersei and Sansa that I could found. I tried to show their troublesome relationships while they lived together in KL and similarity of their stories when they were apart but still really close in their life paths.
[PART 1] shows a bit of communication between Cersei and Sansa and their bond. Sansa stays imprisoned in the Red Keep and suffers torments from Joffrey, Cersei succeeds in affecting on her and getting what she needs. When Joffrey/Sansa engagement is annulled, Varys and Olenna Tyrell plan to marry Sansa to Loras, Tywin finds out and decides instead to wed Cersei to Loras and Sansa to Tyrion. All four participants aren’t happy with that decision at all but are forced to do so. Things start falling down at the moment Joffrey drinks poisoned wine on his own wedding and takes the last breath in his mother’s arms. Sansa flees the capital with Littlefinger’s help, Cersei blames her for Joffrey’s death and wants her revenge. While Sansa travels to the Vale and then marries Ramsay Bolton in Winterfell, Cersei now is free to refuse to marry Loras as Tywin passed away. She captives and later blows up the Tyrells in the sept, then becomes the ruling queen and sends for Jon as King in the North to bend the knee to her. It seems like the story repeats itself: we saw the same picture when Ned Stark was accused of treason and Cersei sent for Robb to swear fealty to Joffrey. All those events lead our characters to the realization that they want to come back and change things that cause them so much pain in present.
[PART 2] is about Cersei’s and Sansa’s paths from little girls who were overwhelmed by their romantic dreams of being queen to hard-headed grown women who have faced many losses and learned how to handle it. They both thought that their marriage to handsome prince will be full of love and wonders but in reality they not only haven’t got their princes as husbands (Rhaegar married first Elia Martell then Lyanna Stark instead of Cersei and Joffrey first cut Sansa’s father’s head off then was married to Margaery Tyrell) but also had to marry someone they’d never marry if they could choose by theirselves. And if Tyrion turns to be really caring for Sansa during their not long-lasting marriage than Robert and Ramsay were true assholes with their wives and didn’t give a shit about their happiness or, at least, well-being. A big place of this part is given to the trials on Tyrion and Arya (Petyr Baelish as a real goal). I put together all Baelish’s crimes concerning Cersei and Sansa: first he faked the reason of Jon Arryn’s death and started the Lannister/Stark conflict, then betrayed Ned and sided with Lannisters, after that he orchestrated the Purple Wedding with Joffrey’s death and later, in Winterfell, tried to turn Sansa against Arya but was caught and murdered by them. At the end of this emotional part you can see Cersei’s and Sansa’s revenge to all their enemies and coronations as the confirmation of their power.
[PART 3] is dedicated to confrontation between Cersei&Margaery, Sansa&Daenerys. Both Cersei and Sansa didn’t recognize their opponents and didn’t trust them, also there were some moments of jealous because of Tommen (earlier Joffrey) and Jon. Cersei and Sansa are the most valuable women in their men’s lives, they not only take care of them but also influence and rule through them and don’t want to lose this opportunity because of new women. They both are overprotective and power-hungry because they saw what happened to their loved ones: Cersei’s children and her father, Sansa’s parents and two brothers. They both know there isn’t a safe space on the map of GoT, and they both are all in this game, so all they can do is to continue fighting and holding on the rest of their families cutting off ‘everyone who isn’t us’. You can see how similar are those situations where Margaery pretends to be Cersei’s friend and Daenerys tries to make friendship with Sansa. Tommen and Jon hope that they could live together but there’s no chance for that so all ends up by elimination of two queens.

I always wish there had been a a private meeting somehow between Cersei and Sansa towards the end. I know logistically it makes no sense for direction. But it would have been very interesting for them to see each other after so much had happened. Especially considering they both considered Daenery’s an enemy. Sansa would have been a better choice to have at that meeting about defeating the white walkers then Jon and Daenery’s. They didn’t get Cersei, Sansa did

I could see Sansa just sitting there looking at Cersei. "So Jeffery died amazingly, I never got to push him off the bridge after he showed me my father's dead on a stick. But he died just as well." Everyone would like oh shit, did she really just go there.

It's incredible how people can watch your video and _still_ come out of it thinking Sansa is Cersei 2.0. Did Sansa learn a thing or two from Cersei? _Yes_ . But people seem to think that learning from her, or Littlefinger, _at all_ is a bad thing, and it's _not_ . Cersei and Littlefinger were big game players, the knowledge they had was _useful_ and _can_ be utilized by somebody, without that somebody being a bad person. There are clear parallels, but so are their _differences_ and that's what matters. My favorite part was when Cersei and Sansa both had their siblings on trial, and while Cersei was trying to sentence her own blood to death for a crime Littlefinger committed, Sansa turned it on Littlefinger and had _him_ executed. Sansa spends all night awake, staring at the canopy, thinking of how she lost her loved ones to traitors. Cersei spends all night, staring at the canopy, and thinks about exacting revenge on those traitors. Sansa would protect her people from harm, as shown in S8 when she kept the gates open as long as possible to make sure as many Northerners were protected in Winterfell as possible. Cersei was willing to use her people as a shield against Daenerys, and always claimed to not care at all about them.

Completely agree. I see most parallels as lazy writing as the writers would just regurgitate scenes with different characters. The narrative created here is much more than the show is actually capable of IMO. Sansa did learn from Cersei, but she learned how NOT to be her. "If I am ever queen, I'll make them love me." Cersei stole her throne on the heel of her son's death. Sansa was chosen as QITN. Cersei set up her people to die. Sansa made sure they were warm and fed to survive the long night. Cersei wanted to destroy all of her enemies. Sansa trusted Brienne enough to allow one into her home. They're only alike in that they're both playing the same game. Cersei has always wanted power. Sansa says herself that she never wanted to play in the books. She's only doing it for survival. Even when they take back Winterfell, she says "if we don't take back the North, we'll never be safe." Meanwhile, Cersei could go anywhere and not be hunted but she fights for that throne. Acting like Sansa is Cersei 2.0 is just a complete disservice to her character and the fact that, in the end, Cersei ended up dead while Sansa became a queen that people want to fight for and die for.

@@babzie Exactly. I'm honestly so tired of people ignoring the clear differences between them and trying to insinuate Sansa is Cersei 2.0. Sansa stopped caring about being Queen the moment her fathers head got chopped off. After that, it's always been about her wanting to be free from the Lannisters and going home. She did what she did to survive and to make sure she and her family had a safe place to go. People also try to force this selfish ideas onto Sansa, about how she just wants to be Queen, yet everything she did proved otherwise. Her enjoying a seat of power makes sense considering she spent so much of her life being a prisoner and a pawn. Yet she still supported and never tried to take power. The game she played has always been to protect herself, her family and her people. Cersei's has always been to protect her own interests, primarily being Queen, even if it hurts her children (like Tommen).

Exactly. There are definitely similarities between them, but as you said there reactions towards situations are vastly different. I'll be honest, I love Cersei as she is my favorite character so it doesn't bother me in the slightest that Sansa is compared to her. These people forget what they're watching. This isn't a popularity contest, it's about survival and Sansa learned too much to become boo boo the fool again.

Lol I posted the same yesterday & got reemed by the editor for it. But ya cercei is a monster & shes not redeemable. Nor is she alike to Sansa in anything other than titles & everything that inherently comes with those titles in this world. Can't stand how people bring up love for her kids as if that excuses ANYTHING let alone everything as so many seem to feel.

(This is all in reference to the show-as this is *not* how it is in the books) "Did Sansa learn a thing or two from Cersei?" Literally through osmosis (which btw doesn't work like that), and Sansa learned virtually NOTHING from her except how to be a raging-conniving-cunt who doesn't even trust her own family (oh and that one time she told Sansa women can use sex/their beauty to get what they want). Pretty much the same goes for LF, and most of the time he was babbling straight up nonsense ("FiGhT eVeRy BaTtLe EvEryWhErE"), on top of it all-you seriously can't utilize the majority of the knowledge/skills that Cersei and LF had *without* becoming a bad person and compromising your morals, it's genuinely impossible as that literally requires you to become a sociopath/psychopath (like Cersei and LF are-or the countless politicians who scheme and plot just like them in real life); Sansa did actively make a sociopathic decision (among others) when she blatantly lied to Jon about the Vale-said absolutely nothing about them prior to the battle despite the fact it almost meant their defeat-and had them charge in halfway through (seemingly in the hopes Jon got killed-that smug smirk on her face when they charge in immediately vanishes when she sees that Jon's alive)-just like she did when she told Tyrion about Jon's parentage (she swore an oath to her own brother-an oath/secret Ned took to his grave after *twenty* years-and directly in front of the heart tree in fucking Winterfell nonetheless). "My favorite part was when Cersei and Sansa both had their siblings on trial, and while Cersei was trying to sentence her own blood to death for a crime Littlefinger committed, Sansa turned it on Littlefinger and had him executed." Do you not remember the tension and pretentious way Sansa behaved toward Arya when they first 'reunited'? Sansa turned it on LF cause they literally got an omniscient super computer for a brother that knows everything and anything-had Sansa not get this information (assuredly) from Bran (or else it makes zero sense) that's not how it would've went down, Arya literally threatened to murder her and wear her fucking face.. "Sansa would protect her people from harm, as shown in S8 when she kept the gates open as long as possible to make sure as many Northerners were protected in Winterfell," or really it's because they need as many human beings as possible and would also rather not give more cannon fodder to the Other's 🥴

This is a stunning video. It shows how they both are similar and yet so different. There are definitely strong parallels but it's the differences that are even more striking. Sansa learned from Cersei and Little Finger, she watched and she waited, underestimated as some songbird in a gilded cage. Cersei will do anything for power and she claims she will do anything for her family, the sad thing is that she failed in that second department. She was against Tyrion and to an extent Tywin. Sansa saw how division can be harmful and look at what happened when the pack came together. They survived, they thrived and they reclaimed their home and got a bit of justice as well. There's so many great points in this vid, it's amazing.

Loved this so much. I've been saying for years that there's been a parallel between Cersei and Sansa, but I didn't realize so many lines and shots mirrored between the two. Wonderfully made and I give as many kudos as allowed for this work of art. You single-handedly displayed all the reasons Sansa grew to be a character I did not trust or like AND you showed how much Cersei actually affected Sansa. She became a creation of Cersei, so much so that it almost seemed like a mother-daughter transition between the two
@MayumiSaegusaShiba
@MayumiSaegusaShiba 3 жыл бұрын
sansa has never been a creation of cersei. after the execution of her father forcefully opened her eyes and showed her how disgusting the people she used to adore really were, there has never been an instance where she wanted to be like cersei. she definitely learned a lot from her, but it's more of "what not to do" more than "what to do". the books showed this much clearer. cersei tells her that fear is the best way to rule, but sansa immediately thinks that she's wrong, remembering that her father always told her that love is better. in addition, as soon as sansa got into a position of power, she never acted like cersei, so i really do wonder why people tend to think that she's anywhere near what cersei is. in fact, though sansa has definitely been influenced by the most slimy of politicians, she has always had her own mind. again, the books provide more insight but i think the show meant to portray it as well. when littlefinger made her act as alayne stone and called her his daughter, again, she immediately denounces him in her mind, reminding herself that she is ned and cat's, the blood of winterfell. people tend to forget that after 1x9, all sansa wanted to do was to go home. she said so herself in 1x10 before she was beaten by meryn trant at the order of joffrey. she wanted the safety of her home and her people, she wanted the life she had before she went to KL. that's why she fought so hard to maintain the north's sovereignty. there is love at home. there is trust, and there is peace. from the very beginning, love, trust, peace, compassion-all these good things were all sansa wanted, and she was simply willing to fight for them. it does not make her another cersei.

It's a pleasure for me to read these words! I fell in love with Cersei with the very first sight as well as I didn't like Sansa at all, but I grew to understand her character while making this video. Obviously, she's not the innocent girl like many people think about her but I respect her courage in fighting for her freedom and her home. I'd say that she became a creation of all her many teachers (like Cersei, Littlefinger, Margaery etc.) but also stayed a part of her own noble house. I'm always team Cersei but Sansa's character deserves to be seen and her voice to be heard. Thank you!

@@MayumiSaegusaShiba I truly believe that most of this shows audience is too dumb to understand Sansa's storyline. They only understand big explosions, dragon fire, sword fights and big battles. They don't understand much about subtleties and political storylines, it's too "boring" for them.
@CommanderLongJohn
@CommanderLongJohn 2 жыл бұрын
@@MayumiSaegusaShiba I know this a ten month old thread, but I can't stand this Sansa jerk fest I've stumbled across.. "as soon as sansa got into a position of power, she never acted like cersei" in the books at least, when in God's name did Sansa have any power even remotely like Cersei lol? She ended up having 'power' placed on her damn lap in the last two pitiful seasons (mostly the last), but the absolute nonsense regarding the Northern Lord's becoming discontent with Jon-and more favorable to Sansa-basically ensured she'd never have to act like Cersei or do anything bad whatsoever to begin with.. "so i really do wonder why people tend to think that she's anywhere near what cersei is," because the showrunners purposely modeled her/her general demeanor and behavior and even the way she speaks, specifically after Cersei, she even wears a jet black Disney princess villain's dress JUST like Cersei ffs, she repeats multiple statements and ideals she professed to Sansa back in KL, she was almost a spitting image of Cersei when her and Daenary's first met ("WhAt dO dRaGoNs EaT aNyWaY"), and the cherry on top IMO was straight up lying about the Vale to Jon (the man responsible for taking back Winterfell and defeating the Bolton's-elsewise Sansa literally would've ended up back in Ramsay's clutches at some point-or stuck in the Vale with a creepy manipulative pedophile)-seemingly in attempt to have Jon killed in the midst of battle so there's no other contender (that smug smirk she has when they first charge in-immediately evaporates when she sees Jon is alive). "that's why she fought so hard to maintain the north's sovereignty," Bran Stark is the King of Westeros-thus there's literally no reason to want sovereignty and virtually none of those Lord's would've been okay with that unless they all miraculously got to declare sovereignty-and does that include the Vale (which is right up there)? The Riverlands or the Trident (which Robb was King of)? All these noble Lord's and House's, they're all just perfectly cool with a Stark as King and a Stark declaring the North an independent Kingdom (which is gonna cut the Crown's income almost in half too-among other thing's)🥴 Then, for some bizarre unexplainable reason, despite the fact there's a Stark King of the "Six Kingdoms" and a fucking Stark "Queen in the North" (cringe) and literally *all* the Unsullied and Dothraki sailed off to their deaths for Naath, the TRUE rightful King of Westeros is sent off into exile beyond the wall, for literally killing the 'enemy'.... Even Varys was going to ensure Ned didn't make it the wall (and back to Winterfell), and that was when a war was about to erupt and House Lannister was at its peak, yet during peacetime-all the enemy's have sailed away-yet, not only can the "Queen" not make arrangements for Jon-but the omniscient King apparently can't 🤡
@roseofthegarden_
@roseofthegarden_ Жыл бұрын
@@CommanderLongJohn Honestly, the fact that ya'll keep trying to use Bran being King as proof Sansa only wanted power, literally only proves you don't understand her character arc, much less how _irrelevant_ Bran being King is in this aspect. Bran being king is _temporary_ . He _isn't_ going to live forever. It makes _no sense_ for Sansa to allow her people to stay under the rule of the seven kingdoms, when she knows damn well once Bran goes, the position will fall into someone else's hands, who is _not_ a Stark. Sansa is thinking _far ahead_ into the future, when she's long gone and Bran is too. What do you think would happen if god forbid Bran died a decade down the line? That quite literally puts the North _right back_ where they started; under foreign rule of the 7 kingdoms. In all honesty, this show should've ended with _all_ the kingdoms succeeding and going back to how they used to be, because it simply doesn't make sense for one person to rule all seven kingdoms. Or at the _very_ least, establishing a _council_ from all the kingdoms. But it's annoying to me to see people ignore how stupid a take it is to say Bran is king, so Sansa shouldn't want Northern independence. Sansa has learned how to plan _ahead_ of time, not thinking just in the moment. It's also why people got mad at her for concerning herself with provisions when the Long Night was ocming, but as usual, she's thinking ahead, of the "afterward" not the here and now. Her choice to free the north was a good one, period. And _now_ , decades down the line when she and Bran are dead and gone, her children and her people will _remain free_ and _not_ be subjected to the whims of a southern ruler in power. So thank you Sansa, for _not_ being a moron, and taking your brother being king as an auto win for the North to stay under the kingdoms.

Funny thing is that people think Olenna is such a great character. In my eyes, amusing and savvy, yes, but also a powerhungry woman who got almost her entire family killed by seeking the throne in Kings Landing. Sansa, on the other hand, knows both her strength and her limits, and she doesn't seek power for powers sake, but for being safe, and to take care of the North.

Cersei has faced so many tragic ways from the day her own father forced her to marry Robert without asking why. She has been trapped by believing what sort of evil that plagues across Westeros and her only duty was to do whatever it takes to protect her children, except she feared Joffrey like Jon feared he saw the Night King at Hardhome. She might be vile and stupid, but that doesn't she has that sinister mind as the Night King or Daenerys when she burned the entire city of King's Landing.

Cersei saw herself in sansa, and also her best friend and second mother, sansa was first born daughter of proper fam, told to be perfect and she marry a prince, aka sold into marriage, but sansa has a bigger heart, sansa is best of both her parents, grieved them both and avenged them, even Cersei wanted sansa on iron throne with Tyrion and Sandro, sansa is Cersei weak heel, she wants to hate her so much, but she can’t and show made Cersei realized sansa was treated worse, her first sexual experience was through rape in her family home by the same family that killed Herman and eldest brother she was closettoo, sansa also changed everyone she met to her core, hound Tyrion Theon Jon snow, shame lady olenna marg, Brianne and pod, and even Cersei and Jaime, his quest for was for sansa

They had pretty similar life paths from the very beginning, I guess you could’ve seen it if you’d pay more attention. I’m not saying they’re one person in two bodies, moreover, I have a soft spot for Cersei and not for Sansa, so I’m aware of their differences. The thing is, people like to paint Sansa as a victim and Cersei as a monster, so they may have seemed like opposites, but it’s not that obvious.
@Stax2High
@Stax2High 2 жыл бұрын
@@alyakaz Lol ya.. no. u might have some nice editing skills but u just sounded dumb af for that smh. What paths are similar? Apart from the ones that they have in common with most high born ladies? & cercei is a monster. It's cringy to hear a mother excuse any rediculous or despicable behavior because they got pregnant. Thus the words "for my children" can be uttered before or after any act & must garner sympathy. 🙄 Na. She's evil. Also Sansa is unmistakably a victim. Lol I'd say you'd have seen that if u paid more attention but, anyone skimming through can noticed as much. You'd have to do some elastic mental gymnastics to say otherwise.

Cersei practically trained Sansa, she's learned from little finger, she's been engaged with joffery and married to Ramsey. If anything she has greater chance of turning into mad queen than Dany.
@roseofthegarden_
@roseofthegarden_ 3 жыл бұрын
No, she doesn't. And the reason why is because at the end of the day, Sansa isn't a carbon copy of Cersei. Sansa took some of the advice of Cersei and Littlefinger and added it to her arsenal, but the show (and even the books) have shown parallels that show the _clear difference_ between Sansa and Cersei. In the end, while Cersei thinks of murdering those who wronged her at night, Sansa only thinks of her family and the love that was lost to death. While Cersei thinks to use innocent people as shields and brings them to the Red Keep under the guise of "protection," Sansa keeps the gates of Winterfell open to make sure as many innocents get under Winterfell protection as possible, even despite the risk of keeping it open so long. Sansa doesn't care about ruling the 7K, she just wanted her people to be safe in the North.

Sanasa weakens herself by relying on other people;but Dany does not do that she relies on her own strength. Sansa just becomes the people who abused her; Dany rises above the abuse she suffers and gets on with it.

Sansa is diabolical. She learned how to plot lie and scheme in Kimgs Landing. She betrayed Jon by telling his secret and lied and to him before the Battle of the Bastards. She lied for Little Finger, and then tricked him and had his throat slashed. All this to become the Queen of the North. Didn't even bother to help Jon out when he went to the Night's Watch. Fuq Sansa, she the worst.
