I like how the show first makes you side with viserys about not wanting to marry the little girl. Then later on it has you thinking that was his biggest mistake.

Daemon laughing at the funeral is one of those little moments I just love about the show. Dude is shit-talking Rhaenyra and her kids in the eulogy, talking about 'the blood must never thin', knowing everyone there is thinking it. So Daemon just laughs in his face, both as a 'dude seriously' moment and to take the focus off Rhaenyra and put it onto the guy everyone already thinks is an asshole. Great stuff, I love this show.

The realization in the 'ohhhhs" when ser harwin came on screen in episode 6 were perfect

32:38 Alicent is pissed because she sacrificed her loyalty to her father to take Rhaenyra's side because she truly believed her when she said she was a virgin. With her father gone, Alicent feels like there is no one at court to truly support her. It's also the fact that Alicent believes Rhaenyra is able to do whatever she likes and face no consequences whilst she is expected to do her duty as queen and therefore not do whatever she wants. And the whole thing Otto impressed on her that her children may be in danger if Rhaenyra inherits. Basically, its a bunch of stuff that's built up over time and no one's communicated properly so everyone's mad af (apart from Viserys who lives his life peacefully).

To answer your question about Alicent: She felt betrayed after finding out that Rhaenyra lied to her after she defended her in front of the king which lead to her father's dismissal. The doubts and paranoia that her father kept feeding her about R being a danger to her children seemed logical after that. So she started harboring hatred for Rhaenyra ever since and the situation with the children's parentage only gave her ammunition. Her young version was the victim of an ambitious father and a loveless marriage paired with fear for her children. But she grows up to be such a hateful vile woman who has no concept of responsibility or accountability for the f&ck ups she causes. In her eyes, she can do no wrong. She's the ultimate victim and everything is everyones fault. Even during the bullying incident, she knew Aegon was the ring leader and even yelled at him for it but she only blamed the "grandsons" in front of the kind trying to weaken Rhaenyra's position even more. And last, she made it her ultimate mission to raise her children to hate their sister and nephews. As for Rhaenyra: Her privileged position gets to her head and she ends up forgetting the dangers she'll face in the future. Even with a perfect record she's still a woman and many wouldn't accept her. She insults noble houses on multiple occasions (people she will need in the future) and makes the huge mistake of leaving her position in the small council to run away to Dragonstone. Her biggest mistake of all time is not having a kid with Laenor (despite claiming she tried but I'm sure there are ways) she choses a lover who looks NOTHING like either of them and his kids end up looking like him. That's the ultimate blow to her claim. No one would vouch for a Bastard to sit the iron throne. Despite being legally covered since both Laenor and Corlys claimed them as Valaryons. But having a questionable prince as heir is dangerous. She also ignored the danger the Hightowers represented till it was too late. Also never made an effort to mend the relationship with her siblings making it easier for Alicent to poison them against her.

According to the book and the show the only woman daemon actually loved and would protect till his last breath was Ranerya. So yeah they loved eachother. He loved her the most after his brother. He would do die or kill anybody who dares to harm her.

People blame this kid or that kid for the kid's fight, but do you know who should have the blame for it the most? The Kinsguard (and the other guards in the castle). LIKE WHERE WERE THEY? How are 5 children, royal childrenn (amongst them the #2, #3 and #6ish in line to the Throne) able to sneak out and have a fight at all? There should be gurads at the doors and patrolling. In the books, the Valeryians were not described as black, so the issue was only the color of the boys hair. In the show they cast black actors in part to make it more obvious for viewers.

I think the switch you guys are missing as to why Alicent is so cold to Rhae is because alicent completely believed that rhae was still a Virgin and took her side causing her dad to lose his position as hand. To only find out later that she definitely screwed around with Criston and then probably fooled around with Daemon too.

Alicent is upset that Rhaenyra lied to her about having sex. Alicent believed her and backed Rhaenyra up to the king and that resulted in her father being sent away. That in addition to how Alicent has to do as she's told and has to do her duty while Rhaenyra just does whatever she wants, ignores her duty and never faces any consequences.

Daemon & Rhaenyra were in on the plan to let Laenor go from the start. This is why Daemon murdered a servant about Laenor's size on the staircase. They dressed the corpse in Laenor's clothes & burned the head, etc. to make it unrecognizable. The bigger question is what happens to Laenor's dragon Seasmoke? The dragon/rider bond is only broken by death. No one else can claim Seasmoke until Laenor is truly dead. Alicent has always envied Rhaenyra's freedom, & at some point the poison Otto's poured in her ears for years finally took root. There is no evidence Rhaenyra would ever hurt Alicent's kids (her half siblings) but Alicent poisons her kids with the same BS. #TeamBlack 4 life

Alicent always defended Rhaenyra from the ladies of the realm to her father to Rhaenyras own father. Alicent does not have the privilege of being a dragon rider with the kings favor. She had to follow her father‘s orders and Rhaenyra, because she only has privilege doesn’t understand that but all the laws of their society and what made viserys king over Rhaenys in the first place dictates that Alicents son should heir and alicent goes out of her way to defend Rhaenyra to viserys, and all she gets in return for it as her father who she considers to be her only ally is sent away for 10 years while she’s isolated at court, watching Rhaenyra get away with something that any other woman, including Alicent would’ve been killed, for it wasn’t fun for alicent to lay under Viserys and let him put four children in her that he neglects and she’s basically his nursemaid, no wonder she’s bitter and turns to religion and duty, it’s all she has and she does her duty because she has no choice for one and secondly, she’s a ruler, and a rulers duty is to the realm first, not their own personal happiness. Obvious challenges to the succession like the obviousness of Rhaenyras sons parentage destabilize the realm because Alicent does have three trueborn sons. I’m sure Alicent would’ve loved to have some romantic relationship that was reciprocated. Instead, she gets a rotten old man who can’t even call her the right name even after all the children, and time she has given him. Alicent reminds me of that quote “A woman’s first blood doesn’t come from between her legs. It comes from biting her tongue.” She sees her child probably her favorite child mutilated, and no one cares and only because he did what any Targaryen has the right to do, claim a dragon, and because he spoke the truth that everyone can see anyway it makes her snap and all of that duty and composure that she clings to breaks. By a modern perspective Rhaenyra is not that bad, but in that universes context she’s very irresponsible. She could have destroyed her relationship with a velaryons her biggest allies, and she’s just as bad as Alicent in many ways. No one is perfect in the story. Rhaenyra and Daemon instead of watching their children were having sex on the beach the day of his wife’s funeral, they killed a random servant so they could marry who had nothing to do with any of it and was innocent, they let Rhaenys and Corlys believe that they lost their son only weeks after they lost their only daughter all for selfishness, yet they’re given a pass because they ride dragons. I’m saying this is someone that likes Daemon and rhaenyra.

Alicent was jealous from the moment Alicent was bearing children for the king. Rhaenyra had an issue with Alicent from the moment she discovered her best friend was covertly wooing her dad. I do think that Daemon and Rhaenyra have a deep connection. In modern new age times we call it karmic connection our soul mates. That said - I do think Daemon ALSO wanted to ease some internal longing for significance and climb the ladder with Rhaenyra as a tool for Ascent. I DO think that Daemon just has this internal restlessness and is driven to mayhem due to his temperament. I think it’s all of the above that makes it a nuanced dynamic between he and Rhaenyra- who - let’s be real - was groomed by her uncle.

IMO, Damon loved his wife and grieved for her (well, not his first wife because he smashed that one’s head with a rock.) He could have forced a fatal c-section on her like his brother did in the first episode, but instead he respected her choice to die by dragon fire.

One thing I will say about Daemon without spoilers is that he will always stay loyal to Rhaenyra and all her children till the day he dies.

Aemond is a child whose father has largely ignored him, and who has watched his mother, do the best to her capabilities, her duty in their society. His brothers should be the heir instead by the laws of their society and he has to watch his half-sister walk around with privilege and bastards, and on top of that all of them, including his own brother, make fun of him for not having a dragon. He wasn’t the one that threw the first hit. Baela and Rhaena came in first, and he only picked up the rock when they were all jumping him, and as for Alicent being responsible for the rumors, she didn’t make Rhaenyra sons bastards with dark hair, everyone has eyes

Actually the kids would be practically white if they were Laenors too, since hes mixed himself and light skinned. Laena's daughters look black not mixed to be fair so it's only the hair colour thats an issue. Even that isn't so bad since Rhaenys is meant to have brown hair not silver.

alicent is disappointed is because she actually cared for rhaenyra and even had viserys make her choose her own husband (which is a privilege no woman or even crown prince had) and even after that alicent belived rhaenyra and saved her life and position while rhaenyra got her father fired leaving her alone. and of course u might not think rhaenyra would do it but eventually it’ll be her own sons and herself or her half brothers and i dont think she cares much for them.

Alicent is just bitter that her choices were made for her, while Rhynera gets to do what she wants. She's become more pious and religious to back up her bitterness

Sooo happy u noticed how much of a huge HYPERCRIT Allicent is. Bethrothing her kids when she called it queer Targaryen customs when it was Daemon & Rhaenyra. More proof she was jealous of Rhaenyra. Rewatch Allicent in ep 1 how she swoons over Daemon after being upset about her brothers fall, then gets all happy and excited once Daemon takes her favour. Also, Daemon has NEVER wanted the throne really. Its clear he just wanted to be hand and to be valued more by his big bro. He did stuff for his attention or to get back at him for falling for Ottos schemes which includes getting Daemon sent away, multiple times. Daemon has always loved Rhaenyra and vice versa. Daemon would die for Visery and Rhaenyra. The throne means nothing to him, hence why he's willing to accept Rhaenyra's boys as true Targaryens too, since all their eggs hatched & they're hers. Daemon hates the greens.

Alicent turned on Rhaenyra when she realised she'd been lied to. I can understand why. To go so far out of your way to protect your friend and then to find kut they've been lying to you too. It was definitely not Rhaenyra's best moment.

So Alicant is holding a grudge against Rhanera because she lied to her about her virginity. Alicent feels she is tanted because of this, Leynor and Rhenera tried many times to conceive a child but he couldn't perform his dutie because he has no attraction to her. After this Rheynera knew that people would question why they don't have kids so she got pregnant by the commander. Also Daemom loved Leyna in his own way and did not wish for her to die the way she did. And Alicents daughter talks in riddles because she has the ability to see the future. I find Alicent to be a really interesting and compelling character. No matter if someone likes or hates her (which both is very much possible the way she's been portrayed) but her bitterness is so real. You asked where her frustration towards Rhaenyra is coming from and as simple as it is: it's jealousy. Alicent never had any kind of choice in her life. She didn't have control over her life or her body. Forced to marry a much older man which ruined her only friendship, being r*ped for centuries, forced to bring three (in the books it's four) children into this world, having to take care for the man who r*pes her and the list goes on... And then you have Rhaenyra who gives a sh*t on her duties (in Alicents eyes). Rhaenyra was able to choose her husband (which Alicent didn't), Rhaenyra lives out her free, se*ual life (which Alicent can't), Rhaenyra mothered three bastards and forced everyone in her court to close the eyes from that... And even though Alicent gets harmed all her life for just doing her "duty", Rhaenyra gets away with everything and has... actually a good life. It must be so frustrating for Alicent to see that happen and then to always be reminded that her husband (who r*pes her, murdered his first wife for a son) would still always take Rhaenyras side while neglecting Alicent, and Alicents children. It's actually a tragedy. And the breaking point is, of course, when Alicent sees that Rhaenyras child has crippled her own child for life, and Viserys still takes Rhaenyras side. I'm not saying Alicent is in the right, not at all, but her frustration and bitterness doesn't come out of the blue. She is just a victim by the patriarchal structures around her which lead to internalized misogyny.

He also confirmed daemon never wanted power or the throne but wanted his brother approval. The actor Matt smith said that 2 people he would lay down and die for is rhaenyra and viserys.

Aemond didn't steal Vhagar. He claimed her. Laena herself told her daughter how it works. If Aemond is a dragon thief, so was Laena. Vhagar was Viserys's father's dragon. He should have gotten dibs after his dragon died. But that isnt how it works.

What you see on the show is said to be through the characters eyes but what is written in the books is bits and pieces of 1 told story.

Honestly i know the show is mostly from team blacks perspective so its easy for audiences to root for them mostly but i really dont get how people are SO team black. Like somehow everyone loves daemon when imo hes the literal worst lol. The Alicent hate is pretty crazy too, since were in Rhaenyras shoes mostly its easy to feel like shes just a hater but shes definitely got good reasons to be jealous. This is a world where laws and tradition are extremely rigid and oppressive but since rhaenyra is a dragon rider she doesnt give a fuck and just does whatever so its "rules for thee and not for me" and i can understand being livid if i were Alicent watching the blatant disregard for her duty. Even for the kid fight in episode 7, they gang up on Aemond like 3 v 1 and sure he calls them bastards (which they are) but then they cut his eye out.
