This was the first time the Chinese had heard this handsome singer from Kazakhstan. It was five years ago, and he is so superior now to what he is there, it is literally stunning. Dimash is Eurasian, 6'3" tall, an athlete, male model, with a 7 octave 2 note range. He has his Masters in Music Composition and is working on his Doctoral studies. He began his vocal, classical training at age 5, and continued full time until age 25. He is also a multi-instrumentalist. He will shock you with operatic songs, pop songs, Michael Jackson songs, folk music from his country and pretty much everything in between. The only thing I know he does not sing is American Country music. He will be age 28 the end of May, and just gets better and better.

Having that voice is no accident. 17 years of professional training as of this performance (age 22), mostly classical. 3 hours a day. Swimming for breath control. Martial arts for balance and fitness. Old school restrictions on food and drink to preserve his voice. But he just gets better. In 2019 right before covid hit he was on a sold out world tour and when he played New York City fans came from 68 countries to see him. He refers to his fans as his Dears. He OPENED this annual talent show in China as a special invitee and as the first non-Chinese artist with this performance of SOS (an extremely difficult song in french). The show is translated I Am Singer and is a competition of professional Chinese singers from different genres of music. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and was virtually unknown. After THIS performance he required bodyguards. He eventually placed second mainly due to the fact that as a Kazakh, he couldnt be the Chinese singer of the year. As a result, they had to change the rules for the following year. Each of the 15 16 weekly performances of Dimash on this show are worthy of a reaction. Notably, Opera 2 and Autumn Strong/Late.Autumn in particular. At the age of 5, it was discovered that Dimash had perfect pitch and he entered into the top training music academy of his home country. Both his parents are noted musicians and singers as well. Dimash trained in both classical operatic voice and contemporary and of course music composition. He completed his Masters and is working towards his PhD. He declined an invitation of his country's most noted operatic group to pursue his own musical direction. I am surprised more people don't recommend this. But, I love his renditions of "Opera 2". The original singer filed a legal injunction demanding that he never sing it again, because it was so much better. So, unlike the other songs he sings there's only one performance.

Ohhhhhh....welcome to an incredible adventure of a great vocalist. He is amazing and I swear from another planet. He has some amazing music out there. He has sang in 15 different languages but fluently in at least 7 of those. He has a 7 octave vocal range. Mariah Carey has a 6 octave range to put that into perspective. His mother is a classically trained opera singer and opera teacher so he had early experience. He is University trained in classical and contemporary music. He does a lot of different music not just opera. He is a HUGE Michael Jackaon fan and learned to dance from him. He raps as well. I can't say enough about him...Enjoy!

dimash's parents are musicians also. he is well with about 3 instruments and fluent in many languages. as a fellow metal-head i am ashamed he never got in that genre. he can kick it in like seconds with that voice.

Dimash Kudaibergen is from Kazakhstan Currently 29 yrs old Sings in 8 languages Plays 7 instruments Sings in 6 octaves (7 if you count his whistle voice). Has a Masters in Opera, Classical and Composition. Has a PhD in Composition and scored a perfectr grade on his thesis. He began training at 4 yrs old. He refuses to work with a producer as he prefers to do things his way. He’s also a Humanitarian, and so much more.

This was a truly great, enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk."
