When you do protruding brickwork do you add wall ties or anything?

yes absolutely, if there is a straight joint, if the projection is severe, say for example on the oversailling courses of a chimney stack and anywhere that needs to be tied back to a main wall..

Rob... I really would like to see your Gate connection to the wall. I have to build a wall and fit a 5>7 meter Gate twin opening. Problem is im stuck for ideas as to how to connect the gate to t he wall, whilst the gate hangs on the post which connects to the wall. I can see a wall > post then gate in your video. How wide is your gate please and its a single opening. Could you do a quick video about any mods you might to do your gate.
