What's the issue with the battery powered VHS-C adaptors? You've mentioned before how they can be a problem.

Batteries corroding. Motor dying. Not closing all the way. Misaligning the tape. Name brand ones usually are fine but there’s really cheap jack off brand ones that are really bad.
