well thank gosh my family only used vhs tapes, mini dvs and some hi-8 cassettes. i honestly thought that this could only happen on vcds and laserdiscs.

Everyone thought it was the way of the future, guess what I have VHS and cassettes from the 80's that are absolutely fine even without a cleaning machine. Analog for life!

Tapes have their problems too. Esp if not stored correctly.

@@gotmemories Oh I've seen my fair share of moldy and brittle tapes. Ironically I've also gotten some old audio reels from the 50's and 60's that are perfectly healthy and sound amazing. All about storage, humidity, temp, ect.

This is also why GameCube games have spiked in price. Those Mini DVDs just weren’t up for it
