1:20 if you've ever seen footage of the real John Gotti leaving the courthouse, you will realize why Armand Assante is the best Gotti there will ever be. Talk about method acting, this man nailed that walk and the whole role. The swagger and strutting, the tone of voice. The look. Travolta has absolutely NOTHING on this.

Armand Assante owns this role. He has a subtle wince as the hit is going down, watching intently to make sure it is successful, but not having any sort of blood lust or primal enjoyment of the spectacle in front of him. Assante took on a role that was complicated and full of nuance, and he mastered it. It was an unimprovable performance that put the later Travolta remake to shame.

Another thing castellano almost came to an end a lot sooner when the westies went to meet with him and put a hit squad across the street the leader of the westies the meeting turned out well for the westies they partied and the leader almost forgot to call off his hit squad it’s a legendary story. Who knows how things go different if big mouth gotti doesn’t become boss but he’s still a legend

Not a chance, he’s notorious for having lied about almost everything. He also claimed the Hoffa and Galante hits. Sammy the Bull said the Castellano hit was exclusively Gotti crew. Michael Franzese states he’d never heard his name mentioned once, can’t imagine him having any motivation to lie about that
