LYRICS
So this is the end of the story
Everything we had, everything we did
Is buried in dust
And this dust is all that's left of us
But only a few ever worried
Though the signs were clear, they had no idea
You just get used to living in fear
Or give up
When you can't even picture your future
We walk the plank with our eyes wide open...
Some people offered up answers
We made out like we heard, but they were only words
They didn't add up
To a change in the way we were living
And the saddest thing-
Is all of it could have been avoided
But it was like to stop consuming is to stop being human
And why would I make a change if you won't
We're all in the same boat, staying afloat
For the moment
And we walk the plank with our eyes wide open, we..
Walk the plank with our eyes wide open
With our eyes wide open we...
Walk the plank, we walk the plank
And that was the end of the story

Had a feeling people would come to this song in recent times. Pretty much every verse in this song reads like a prophesy that we're living through right now. At least, as of the typing of this comment. I pray that we don't end up walking the plank at all, and that the people who offer up answers do add up to a change in the way that we're living in. It's looking like that might be happening; baby steps are better than no steps at all, but still, I can't get over how EVERY VERSE is perfectly accurate to present day.

I don’t think people notice how much the album making mirrors relates to real world issues. This song is about us destroying our world Bronte is about letting go / losing something Sombody that you used to know is about realizing both sides of a story State of the art is talking about how much technology has effected us Giving me a chance is about forgiveness and the pain of doing it Save me is about sombody helping another out of a sad point in there life This is a message to pay attention to lyrics

i started knowing i was a weird kid when i tried to show my middle school friends the kind of music i liked and his music videos- they would make fun of me after i tried to show them. not that the videos are that weird, but for some reason this is what really triggered my idea that i was strange. coming back to this after i graduated highschool alone is really bringing things to light for me. i was weird, i am weird, and i'm gonna be weird. but being alone is good company, at least. i'm so much older now, but i think i'm just the same weird little kid. i miss gotye.

To all who believe that lie, which says, Masons have no power: That dear soul is a clear lie, they still busy doing whatever they are doing (biblically deceiving mankind) and still they have the same if not even more power. The masons haven+t gone nowhere, their club just in the late 20th century and early 21st century, exploded, meaning went bigger by many souls who became the sell outs. That`s the only reason we have TV s in our homes and the entertainments, through music , movies, sports. If, as you seem to believe, masons power has gone down the drain, then our so loved TVs won´t show of any kind of picture. It then will be just a pointless box. There be then no daily news. And there WON´T be then any kind of money in use. Yep, that`s the picture i will get if the masons power have truly gone down the train. Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Without the masons nor the death club of freemasonry, there be not a single soul who`s sell out nor will there be any reason nor a chance to become one. SOULS, SEARCH: BIBLE + FREEMASONRY. Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. And remember souls: This world was never what we thought it was, nor it will never be what we wish it be.

This was his best song BY far, i was stunned that this was not his "defining work", "Someone i used to know", is an ok track for sure, but this utterly brilliant, so "Wally", just consider a little remaster and properly re release this, push it on youtube, then id make a custom vinly as well, this track is worthy of it

I can't even begin to state how lyrically, musically and soulfully brilliant this song is. What with the ambient, dark guitar, galloped drumming, the incredibly unique sound of the bassline and the gorgeous harmonies, foreground and background. Amazing. I don't believe you. But. Just in case, pick Titan. Venus might seem like the logical choice what with the nice patch in the upper atmosphere, but your colony will never be self-sustaining without the ability to mine for more raw materials. You just can't do that on Venus's surface, so while it would be poetic to be the last human in the universe slowly growing old among the clouds, your save the species plan would kinda go bust around the same time you ran out of spare parts.

Many people seem to think that this song is about humans destroying the environment, which I have no trouble believing, but I almost feel like this song was written specifically to describe a situation involving a friend of mine and her husband. As I read the lyrics, it's just eerie how well it applies to their situation. Or at least, what it was the last time that I talked to her about it. That's what I love about music: The song can mean something totally different to one person from what the song's creator originally intended for it to be about. Music really is in the eye of the beholder.

They couldn't even spell their names correctly. Good looking girls, but completely braindead sluts who only saw men as sexual objects. Well now they are 30 and have nobody. Nothing wrong with an ass ladies, just be practical or enjoy becoming that weird 60 year old who everyone says is fun but everyone knows she's taking home every half bottle of wine leftover afterwards. Who gets invited to birthdays, but doesn't go because it's a reminder of how miserable, lonely and desperate her own life is.

Because this song is pretty boring. I mean, I can respect slow music, but I just don't really like this song. And, in my opinion, songs aren't really meant for making statements about serious, important things. But then again, I hate most popular music (like gangnam style, most pop songs, and most rap songs) so what do I know? the way I judge a song is mainly by if it sounds good, and secondly if it has either good lyrics, no lyrics, or lyrics that just don't bother me.

Erik P music was made for the sole purpose of how a person feels. It's all a statement on our view of things and how we feel. That's what it is, so if you don't listen to music for that purpose then why do you even listen to music??? All music has a statement.

All music isn't made to express an opinion or tell a story or something, lots of it is just for entertainment. And if the only reason to listen to this song is because it has a message, well that's just not good enough for me. What's the point of it being in a song, if the listener doesn't enjoy the musical aspect? By your reasoning, I could just read the lyrics and get the same effect as listening to it

This video honestly makes me incredibly sad. It was pretty trippy at first, but then you start to see it differently. The people pulling up the buckets of dust are constantly searching for something to live for, but finding nothing. They wander the earth searching constantly, but all they see are the broken wasteland of everyday life. Nothing but destruction in their eyes. "We walk the plank with our eyes wide open" meaning they are constantly looking onward, trying to see something in the distance, but they are constantly going nowhere but down throughout life. There is literally nothing left in this world for these people to live for. Here come the tears.

It depends on the power relationships. If you are poor, you can't afford to neccessarily make ethical decisions. All individuals make decisions, but not all people can choose all of the choices due to limited financial limitations. Big corporations that sell cheap goods will exist no matter what terrible things they do. People will complain, but most will buy from them because their choices are limited. This is also the reason why poor people are more likely to steal.

reminds me of when me and my daughters mother split up after 10 years, that was almost 7 years ago now. what a beautiful and painful mess that was. I used her car one day so she could use my truck and I heard this. I knew her and I were done and nothing could save us this time. And the saddest thing, is all of it could've been avoided. .. but I wouldn't change a thing about my life. It was the safest and most happy, free feeling I've ever had

I hear "Some people offered up answers. We made off like we heard, they were only words. They didn't add up, to a change in the way we were living. And the saddest thing, is all of this could have been avoided."
