As a sports photo shooter and a dreaming film maker, the xh2s is the best bang for your buck camera. The stacked sensor is incredible. I've even made my xs10 a decent sports photo camera (you just have to learn how to make the AF work for you). Keep up the great work on your channel sir!

Agreed. The memory card door is the only part of the body that doesn’t feel rock solid. I will say though, it’s way better than the door on the Sony a7iv.

I swapped my X-T4, for the X-H2 and then got an X-H2S in the January sales. Love them both. Also love my X100V. I can identify with all the plusses that you mention, but none of the minuses bother me. I have kitted out my H2S with a dummy battery/V-Lock external and a Neewer cage. For general photography the H2 gives me lossless crop-in and an incredible fastest shutter speed of 1/180,000 sec! For action and video the H2S is hard to beat, and as both have identical bodies, including button layout, they make a great pair when I need two bodies. The X100V is just a great walk about camera, with its builtin ND filter and lens shutter. Well done Fujifilm!

I shoot on a A7III and I've been wanting to branch into video a lot more. I was pondering picking up a FX3, but the price of it is a bit much to swallow. I think this camera looks like the perfect option for me as it does both stills and video so well. I'm also really fond of Fuji colours and I really think the look is quite pleasing. Another big win for the Fuji is 3:2 open gate, which would be brilliant for anamorphics! Fantastic review mate... I'm being swayed more to sell my Sony gear and jumping into the Fuji system.

Nice Review! As for the card slot door, yes, my model also has a "looseness" to a degree. I don't think that this is mentioned anywhere in other online forums so glad you brought it up. Glad to know that it doesn't interfere with its weather resistance in reasonable conditions from your experience.

Best and most useful review I've seen on this camera! Your sample photos also illustrate the the functionality, but as always are one of my favorite things about your videos. The section explaining the open gate rations was perfectly edited and spot on to clarify the functionality. Fantastic video Goughie! Cheers mate!

Overall I think comparing the pricing to small format FF (And entry level FF options at that) propagates the wrong comparable :) . The comparison to the XH2s/XH2 is NOT the A7iv, A7rV, R6, R5. The comparison in my experience is to the Sony A1, Canon R3 and Nikon Z9 offerings where the overall package of the XH2s represents huge value for money. 40fps stills, higher bit rate internal recording options, Pro Res internal recording , Black magic raw external, better IBIS than the Sony (smaller sensors being easier to balance), better rolling shutter performance than anything else close to it’s price point etc… I recently moved from Sony A1 and A7rV with a suite of GMaster lenses. I did this because the XH2s in particular offered a much more capable hybrid workflow without requiring as much external ‘kit’ as my A1 or A7rV. Particularly internal raw recording with an overall smaller lighter kit. Extremely happy with my decision. I’d encourage others half interested not to dismiss this kit because it’s APSC but instead look at it through the lens of workflow flexibility. :)
@Goughie
@Goughie Жыл бұрын
Agree with being able to compare to others too, I don’t agree that comparing to the Sony A7iv and R6 is wrong, they were the two other cameras I considered and are still worthy comparisons each with pros and cons at a similar price point People definitely need to stop only looking at full frame cameras, beyond low light you don’t gain too much at all It is missing internal raw, I think that might be a mistake in your comment towards the end, and you meant ProRes Glad you’re enjoying it!
@TomOhle1
@TomOhle1 Жыл бұрын
EDIT: Yup. I meant to say internal Pro Res LT. It's been a game changer where I want more flexibility but don't want to rig up an external recorder. Great spot :) I think when I originally said 'propagates the wrong comparable' it was a poor choice of language and wasn't intended to be a dig or criticism of your video. I'm very sorry if it read that way :) I should have better worded what I was trying to express in my original comment - that (for me anyway) the comparisons with entry level FF largely stop at price. If you start to look at technical capability and workflow, the comparisons invariably push you into much loftier priced offerings from Canon, Sony and Nikon like the z9, A1 and R3.... all costing more than twice as much as the Fuji system! In that sense it actually represents a significant value proposition. But obviously that is subjective to the individual needs of the person :) Anyway, hope you're having a great day. Keep up the great work. You have a subscriber here.

Was video the main reason for your switch? I have an X-T4, but I'm looking to upgrade to either the A7iv or the X-H2S for hybrid shooting. There are some pros to the A7iv which is cheaper lenses, better autofocus. Ironically equivalent lenses by excellent 3rd party like Sigma actually cost less than Fuji lenses. They also tend to weigh less than the new f/1.4 LM primes. However, the 4k60 crop in the A7iv looks annoying from a workflow pov and I would still need APS-C wide angle lenses on top of the FF lenses. On the other hand the X-H2S offers quite a lot, but with some quirks. E.g. Inability to remap front/back dial for ISO/SS control. Lack of MCS switch mode in the front. Weird placement of the mode dial (why is it on the left). Fujifilm also lacks a fast 10-24mm option. One other issue I've noticed is the exposure stepping when zooming lenses.
@Goughie
@Goughie Жыл бұрын
@@jasontaycs7195 worth considering the sigma line for Fuji as well, the 18-55mm appears to be an amazing lens that’s small and cheap and fast, some of the new primes look good too

The memory card door on my XH2 is similar, but maybe to a lessor degree than you have shown, for what that's worth. Seems to me like there's a bit of play caused by the rubber gasket it pushes up against. Probably not a problem and just normal.

Fabulous video - thank you very much. It's much more interesting to hear about usability in practice than all the talk about upcoming equipment (at worst, it's just speculation about possible specs). Am I going to sell my extensive m43 setup and buy what is perhaps the most interesting camera on the market? Probably not. For me, the new G9 II and the X-H2S are similar cameras, even if there are a few differences. Both live up to my claim to produce high-quality photos and videos to perfection (live productions are not a topic for me). The X-H2S offers the fantastic EVF, while the G9 II offers 4k120p without crop. In the end, the bodies have reached such a quality that I am increasingly looking at the larger ecosystem - (anamorphic) lenses, handles, SSD etc. In this respect, both systems are fabulous. What is missing everywhere is 1TB of internal flash memory. Do I have to buy a smartphone? 😎

i dont understand why everyone keep saying CFE Type B is something to note for its price. a mid tier CFE card is cheaper than a good UHS2 SD card, while being faster. If you look at prograde gold 512gb for example, it is significantly cheaper than a UHS2 SD card thats half its capacity (while being faster). the minimum speed is sufficient for all X-H2S internal recording bitrates too, supposedly. (Prograde Cobalt shouldn't be necessary, but i could be wrong)

Hi and thanks for a great review. When you say that the X-H2s is a bigger camera as compared to the X-T5, is it primarily in thickness? I keep seeing reviews saying that it is a lot bigger, scaring me a bit from my decision to buy the X-H2 (which I have on order). When I look at size specs, I see there are only fairly small differences in height and width ... width being .6cm wider and only .2 cm taller. The biggest difference when I look at online specs seems to be thickness of the body, and there is a real difference there. Is that the case or maybe I am overlooking something? By the way, I have seen someone else commenting about the loose fit of the door/flap you mentioned, so you are not the only one. Thanks again!

I’m just writing a review on the XT5 and it’s hard to explain! And I know what you mean! In some of the side by sides in this video they look really similar in size. @@Goughie Thanks for that! I know not everyone wants those add-on grips but I found with the minimal grip on the X-T3, I needed to buy a SmallRig grip that to a certain extent, would make the difference in thickness and weight a bit less (but not completely so).

@@richardcarlson112 Two months late here, but I handled an X-T5 in a camera shop, and subjectively it felt heavy. I added it really briefly at the start, presets applied in my stackable preset pack to edit the image, I’ll actually mention it going forwards!

I have an X-H2s and don't have the same door issues you do. Must just be your copy. Unrelated, to each their own, but the pro mist/cinebloom filter you have going on is just wayyyy too strong IMO. I feel like if you're hoodie drawstrings look like they're glowing you've gone a bit too far. Edit: Just watched further and it seems your OOC footage is fine, you're just adding a ton of bloom with Dehancer.

You must have a good copy! You’re the only one without the issue so far! Everyone else has had the same as me! Yeaaaah I hear you! Forever experimenting!

@@Goughie Though I should have said, the content was excellent. 100% the value comes from the video features, and the custom modes for hybrid shooters. I upgraded from the X-T4 for exactly those reasons.

you know... it ain't difficult - AT ALL - to film yourself without a flippy screen. just set focus to 1m if you sit at 1m distance, it's really, really, that simple.

Hmmmm maaaaybe! Depends on your depth of field, I wiggle about a fair amount, and tried this and didn’t like it, It’s less about the desk stuff and more about the being out and about vlogging tbh!

Putting your head near the top of the frame makes it pop whenever you move due to edge distortion. Doesn’t look good.

What models are you referring to? From what I'm seeing Fuji overall is having a hard time keeping cameras (and some lenses) in stock, not that they discontinued them. I don't know if this is due to continual supply chain issues or if the demand is just too much for their manufacturing capabilities but it definitely has caused people to take advantage and sell stuff for an astronomical markup. Used bodies are selling for as much as they were new when on sale.

@@daveb6711 I googled X-E4 and X-Pro3 they were both discontinued. I am not sure about the X-T30 ii. The only ones that are for sale right now in any major online retail store here in Canada are the X-T4, X-T5, X-H2 and X-H2s.

I have an X-H2 and that memory card door has some give, but doesn't feel like it moves as much as yours. I'm sure the squish is a gasket for water resistance being compressed.
