Thanks for the honest review. I clicked on it because it said ‘normal person’s review’ and wouldn’t be sponsored or OTT!! I’ve also tried both. Started on HelloFresh but moved to Gousto once I realised it was cheaper and there were more recipes. A couple of other small things I like are that there’s less plastic (still get sachets etc but less shrink wrapped veg) and the cards are more durable than HelloFresh’s papery ones, which is good for redoing the recipes myself. I actually just tried buying my own ingredients for the first time and the full 4 x 2 meal shop came to £50, £13 more than Gousto’s price today (£37) so I’ll see if I recover those savings in leftover ingredients. But there can’t be much in it, which is impressive! And of course I had to spend ages in 2 supermarkets to find it all. So might go back to Gousto again…

Thank you for such a thorough comparison of the two companies! My husband and I have just signed up for our first Hello Fresh box, however, we have looked at Gousto as well and were considering trying them next. One thing we did notice was that the Gousto website was far more intuitive than the Hello Fresh website? It could just be that we have never used this kind of service before, so it could have just been a case of P.I.C.N.I.C (problem in chair NOT in computer 🙄😂) Once again, TFS and have a great weekend! 👍💖

We’ve been doing gousto and love it, despite them not bagging the ingredients into individual meals we found this really is not much of an inconvenience with about 10 mins of organisations it’s sorted. For the price for 4 people and 4 meals I think it really is worth it and having the choice of 50 meals a week (clearly have been some improvements within the year after this video which is interesting) makes it fun and fresh each day. The premium options are great to make it feel like more of a treat, which we do every so often. One thing I also love with gousto is the “market food” options where you can order deserts and wine etc which I think is well priced. Goustos way of subscription is really what made it for us as we can pause it all the time and do boxes whenever we want instead of being tied down to a subscription. Great video mate!

Thought it was interesting that you prefer the HelloFresh bags for packaging. We found that we couldn’t fit them all in our fridge so had to take them apart anyway 😂 Nice review video, loved the slow mo closeups on the items!

Thank you so much for this review. As someone who has always cooked something with chips and beans when it's my turn I think either HelloFresh or Gusto will be brilliant to help me learn to cook. I know there are recipe books etc but having to buy a whole packet when you only need a tbsp seems a bit of a waste. I think we are going to go for Gusto as I don't want to have HelloFresh send me a box if I don't need it but one thing that I have noticed in HelloFresh's favour is the fact that they cater for 3 people. All the other meal delivery service seem to be aimed at either couples or families. Myself and my wife have a disabled adult daughter at home and we are looking to feed 3. With gusto it appears that we would either have to buy 2 portions or 4, which is a shame. Luckily, my wife is on a diet so she has decided to fend for herself for now and I will cook for me and my daughter. Is it a coincidence that she has decided to start a diet when I have promised to learn to cook?! Nice video, thanks for making it.

Would like to see an update video on what you're using these days along with your Huel. Especially since Gousto now do like 75 recipes a week and I’m sure Hello Fresh does loads more too. Personally, we used Hello Fresh for a while but moved to Gousto about two years ago and never went back, in my experience, and this could be just the dishes we picked but Gousto seems less work than Hello Fresh did, I also perfect their branding and the cards are smaller and easier to store. Meals are very nice and as you say they are so good for trying loads of different dishes instead of the same 10 things you end up eating on rotation when you have to think about what you're going to eat when you go shopping. I’m really interested in trying the Huel Hot and Savoury too soon for lunch.

I love cooking but having spent 5 years stuck in bed up 3 flights of stairs as became wheelchair dependent... I know everyone complaining re lockdown I was hmm welcome to my world.. and when finally got wheelchair accessible house Covid decided to make entrance and have been confined to house since 1st March 2020 and still am as not allowed vaccination so need more folk to have before I can go back shopping it has been frustrating doing online order works but I like to get inspiration as I browse. I have husband who loathes cooking and not one for experimenting as my daughter says give mum a recipe she will always tweak it give dad same recipe who knows what you will get but we know when not a hit as have a happy dog lol. I have considered meal boxes now I can actually get into kitchen as I need to build stamina up so this was really informative review and now as there are usually just 2 of us 4 meals week with no waste sounds plus variety is a reasonable cost both in actual ingredients but also time and energy cooking and certainly looks more appealing than what care service recommended which are pre cooked chilled meals you put in microwave. So will give it a go and still leaves 3 nights to make start getting use to to cooking old favourites in batches for other 3 nights TQ.

Gousto is so much better in my opinion

What's cheaper for a 5 day recipe box for 2? I just got a helloFresh promo for 5 days and the quality/quantity plus packaging was brilliant.

Gusto now puts their eggs in an individual box. Never had a broken egg from them. I also like the fact that you do not have to have a subscription. I order when I feel that I want a change. I have never been able to subscribe to Hello Fresh because they do not allow you to choose your first subscription box. Also the prices seem to be less with Gusto. We get 4 meals for 4 days for the same price that Hello Fresh which is 3 meals for three days I do not like the way Gusto sends you tiny pieces of garlic cloves which tend to get lost and go stale. Also I dont like the way they pack their herbs. They always get ugh before I can use them. Some of the Gusto meals are so well presented that I have often used them for dinner parties. I do love their choice of dishes, especially the ethnic dishes.

I tried hellofresh for months. I didn't do to well with it. I found that the meat will go off too quickly, also the chicken smelled weird. Hellofresh is also high in calories. I'm currently on my third gousto box. I prefer gousto

Ive tried Hello Fresh I really like the idea and the recipients were tasty. I've tried 5 recipes (over 2 boxes) some meat, some veg. And each time after couple of hours I had belly aches. 1st I thought it might be just new food as I'm not use to using sauces in my food and all recipes have some type of sauce. But after the last recipe and waking up with bad cramps I decided to cancel. I don't have any belly pain or allergies and I really take care to read labels when I buy food, so Im gonna try Gousto, hope it will be better.

Hello Fresh and Gousto are pretentious .. All I can say is buy a decent cookery book and experiment..both of these companies use excessive packaging which adds to the cost of recycling. Any supermarket in the UK offers a 3 for 10 quid on meat or fish whether it be a chicken,500g beef mince or pork loin steaks...M&S, Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Co-op ALL do these deals....Also look out for reduced fruit and veg...Also with eggs,look for a laying date on the box...eggs are good after 16 weeks at room temperature. Obviously we are now catering to the snow flake generation 🙄
